Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

probably the most polished alpha i have ever seen or played! Totally fantastic! BTW will you be able to fly ships in the final game? Engage in ship to ship combat?

- DestinyGAF group is created on Bungie.net in anticipation of the Alpha-group being deleted with the Alpha site shutting down. The group is created by Raishin, who promises to pass it on to PsychoRaven when he returns. There is some misunderstanding ( PsychoRaven thinking someone has ‘stolen’ DestinyGAF ), but outside of that no problems arise. A new thread is not yet made for the group because there is not yet any pressure to do so and the people most interested in Destiny are in the Alpha Withdrawal thread anyways. The creators of this original DestinyGAF go offline.

- Shadownet creates DestinyGAF PS4 to solve the ‘problem’ of not being able to know what platform someone is playing on. Some people point out that this problem does not exist, because a single group can be divided in separate clans ( and thus the original DestinyGAF can be divided according to platform without the need for creating a separate new group ), but the recruiting goes on anyways, ignoring the criticism. Both sides repeat themselves several times, but nothing changes. Because there is no thread for the original DestinyGAF and because the DestinyGAF PS4 thread does not have a proper disclaimer, people get confused and some join this new DestinyGAF not knowing about the original one or just to be sure.

- People continue to be confused at how the clan system on Bungie.net works and do not read posts where they are explained. Confusion regarding the clans continues with some people proposing either one to shut down, some pushing for a poll or discussion, and others proposing that there should be as many clans as we want there to be

- I cry in a corner.

- I make a fancy banner and spend way too much effort in writing a recap.

"That DestinyGAF clan came from the moon."

Just been playing ODST coop. It scratches a small itch. Will probably go through that with my Thursday night crew for the next few weeks. Feels fucking weird to play again, can't remember much of it even though I played the shit out of it when it released.

Yeah, I can't believe how much I ended up loving it and not loving Battlefield Hardline. Can't wait for Destiny Beta and full release!

i was super hyped for battlefield hardline and kinda meh on destiny prior to playing the beta and alpha respectively. i did a compete 180. while i still want to play hardline for the single player (writers from the tv show "justified" are involved so i'm hyped since it is my favorite tv show) i think i will pick it up down the road at a bomba price. destiny has become my number one anticipated game of the year. forza horizon 2 is a close second but still second nonetheless.

Nice recap, but you forgot the part where everyone bailed from the other two silly groups and joined the one true NeoDestinyGAF.

The alpha site represents a site-wide update to the current site that will take place in the coming months. Features you saw there, such as displaying DestinyGAF in-game, will be accessible on the current site where you guys created the new GAF groups. When that happens, you'll be able to link all the groups to a larger group under the "Alliance" system. urk can chime in if anything's incorrect, but that's basically why you can't do anything on the current site yet. It hasn't seen any substantial updates since last summer pending the "alpha update".

Ahh okay I see thanks for clearing that up.

I tried to record as much music from the Alpha as I possibly could. This is a collection of everything I managed to get. There were 8 different cues played during the main menu (the first cue was the same every time and was never repeated, the other 7 appeared to be randomly played and repeated after that). In addition to the cues from the main menu, this also includes the music from the in space destination screen, two cues that would play during the Explore mission, and a couple short bonus tracks of miscellaneous music. I apologize if this isn't allowed to be posted here. A couple notes:

  • Most of it is just atmospheric background music.
  • This isn't exhaustive. I probably missed some music. Sorry :(
  • Main Menu 2 appears to be the exact same track as Eighth. I included it just in case there are any small differences I didn't catch.
  • Tracks marked as "Bonus" are incomplete cues that were used just as repeating background music during fights. I did some light editing on them to try to make them sound more like complete cues.

Groovy. Thanks for this and listening to some tracks now!

For those of us still interested in the drama, what's the backstory on PsychoRaven? I've only seen one post from him on the subject and it was the "stolen" post. Haven't seen him show much interest in the thread.

He is the puppet master in the background and the rightful heir to the clan.

Fixed the link for ya.

Wait.

I'm banned?

I'm not banned am I?

Why are you doing this to me? )-;

Is this punishment for me not doing the joke correctly?

Haha no, your post was good, just reminded me of that gif :D

Your post is what I think Bish thinks about when he looks at the forums.

Looks like I'm several pages too late for the simple "I've applied" posts, but yeah, I've applied... Bungie ID is also RulkeN.

As one of those that enjoyed the sounds/music of the alpha a lot, I wanted to thank you for posting this. The added hilarity of overly rousing (or eerie) music playing that doesn't match what I'm doing in real life is certainly a bonus. That sad feels turning into eerily creepy fear while cooking tilapia though...
