PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | June 2014

But that's not the point, it's like there are two Sonys, one that is making excellent exclusive games for the Vita and the other one who decides to not tell anybody about them. Why are they even making them if they're not trying to sell them?

I already said this but why the hell would you ever show at E3 this or announce that Child of Light is coming to Vita instead of showing your own games like Freedom Wars? Why is a Fat Princess puzzle game getting more exposure than something as beautiful as OreShika? You're literally boycotting your own platform.
Where are the Freedom Wars and OreShika E3 trailers on Playstation's Youtube channel? They're games announced for the West.
Why did they show a Vita sizzle reel of f2p games instead of the one they uploaded on youtube? I mean, ffs, they even uploaded Danganronpa 2's trailer then immediately made it private and after a few days set it back to public so now that trailer is one of the least viewed of all E3's trailers. /endofrant

I totally agree. You have one of the most desired games in all of Japan in Freedom Wars and they choose to show FTP?? FTP?!?

Edit: top of the page suggestion Borderlands 2 on the Vita. The frame rate issues don't really bother me and I've out a bunch of hours into this one.

Problem is that right now Sony is trying to transition the machine to more kid focused I think, hence the presentation of those games and F2P instead of all the other fantastic Japanese games coming out.

Whether it works for them or not remains to be seen (I'm of the opinion that nothing will help the vita other than the discovery of time travel), but I tend to agree that showing those hardcore games at E3 won't help them that much. They are a niche of a niche and even though I am part of that niche, I tend to agree that the hardcore would already know about those and it honestly won't help the image sony is trying to transition the vita into. Those games certainly aren't going to attract much of a western audience.

That's a fair point... It still shows a lack of support for the thing. I dream of a world where all of this results in a Vita comeback at Gamescom and TGS. I wasn't expecting much from E3 for the Vita, but that show was embarrassing. C'mon Gamescom! How many more weeks??

Kids aren't exactly watching E3 presentations, and during Sony's brief time talking about Vita, they spoke about older youth skewing projects as well.

I'm kinda glad they're being honest with their recent interviews about Vita, if they weren't we would not have this going on.
A little bit of backlash can't certainly hurt.

I'm glad other people aren't just shrugging their shoulders, saying 'I've got mine, screw everyone else.' It's very important the powers that be at sony become aware people aren't happy with them essentially abandoning their own product.

There's a new Fat Princess game?

Vita plz.

Isn't the Fat Princess IP owned and developed by SSM?
Vita first party redeemed

It looks like this

I'm with the guy who said a couple pages back, that Sony should mandate that all of their developers set aside a miniscule number of people to work on low cost games for the Vita, i don't see how it could hurt them.

I thought Magical Beat was just confusing on video but even after playing the demo I'm lost. A combo of 3 will be destroyed, but only after something like 3 beats pass?

How many songs are there, is it DLC heavy?

For a brand new game it seems like they're practically hiding it, had to dig pages in to find it. No idea why Sony's first listing on the Store is movies.

F2p works for that market too.

Whether it was worth alienating their established audience this E3 remains to be seen, but I think it's just Sony hoping that a different market works. The audience for oreshika or freedom wars is already mostly there. Showing them at the conference won't attract anyone who doesn't have vita currently.

But kids don't watch E3, game journalists won't talk about those games, you can market the console to kids just by airing TV ads. If they want to develop Vita Pets then great, they should always have something for any audience. Invizimals is more successful than most people think. But why would you show that at E3? The media will write off the platform as dead and investors sure as hell won't invest on it, let alone people reading gaming websites.

And no, trust me, only a niche of Vita owners know about Freedom Wars and OreShika, there's no reason to not market the platform to both hardcore and kids. Just say that Freedom Wars is a cooler Attack on Titan and you have a lot more potential customers, show an actual video of Tales of Hearts R instead of a fucking 3-seconds logo and you have the dedicated Tales of fanbase on board. They don't need GTA V Stories to be successful.

I think you're overestimating how much the AoT-ness of freedom wars would help it. If games like that work for the vita it won't be in the state it is in now.

Also investors don't invest based on 3 showings, they invest based on sales and profit, unless you were taking about something else.

As I've said, this E3 was them moving to a different audience. Gaming journalists don't matter. People will come out of this E3 thinking that the main stuff the vita had to show are kid orientated stuff like F2p, minecraft, etc. etc.

Do have the latest version of HSG installed? Also someone told me earlier you had to be at expert rank or something to unlock Kat.

What? No. Kat is considered "Expert Rank" on the game, but you get her right away if you bought and downloaded the DLC and have the current update.

The rank system for the player is numbered, not named (ie; "Rank 15")

Ok so after 9 months since Ratchet Gladiator HD is released and 5 since the first time I've contacted Sony customer service about how I didn't get any voucher despite buying R&C Qforce on day one, now they've just emailed me that "Ratchet Gladiator HD is now on your download list!"

It isn't. ( ._.)

Maybe by 2016 I'll get the chance to download it.

Ahh I see. I haven't updated my own game myself so I'm not quite sure yet.

So is there anything more to Freedom Wars other than running around a medium-sized area, killing a big monster and then back to a menu?

Forgive me if that sounds ignorant but I haven't kept up with the game. Love the artstyle and I'm thinking of getting it.

I think most of the objective isn't about killing monsters but rescuing hostages actually. Also you don't just run around but you zip from wall to wall and even on enemies. Ala Titanfall. Lastly last I heard, there was a PVP mode.

It would be great but I think MM is one of the few teams that could pull off a Tearaway with that kind of budget. It'd be awesome it that money went toward more localizations instead of shoddy PS3 ports, which is kind of what Giocorsi's team is about, but we still don't know the scale of it.

Again, E3 as a show is irrelevant, just a handful of people watch it, it's the perception of the showing through the media that matters. The media won't write that Vita got this f2p title and that port but they will opt for "Vita is dead" because it's what gets them hits.

You also mentioned Minecraft, which is one of the biggest opportunity for the platform in recent memory but it got a 5 seconds logo too. We'll see how they'll handle it when it'll release.

I think you're overestimating how much the AoT-ness of freedom wars would help it. If games like that work for the vita it won't be in the state it is in now.
AoT was just an example, it would get more people to actually check what Freedom Wars is and maybe they'll like it and buy it. But as of now the only way you could know about it is being a Siliconera/Gematsu reader.

Okay I'm a fairly new Vita customer here and after reading that UMvC3 will probably be pulled from the store, has Street fighter x Tekken been reduced in price before? The game cart (which would be actually preferable) costs a bomb, and I'd love to have it on my Vita, cheap.

Is it even a decent port? I liked the game itself a lot for what it was. Dimps is pretty good at making fun, simple fighting games, and UMvC3 was a good substitute for Tatsunoko vs Capcom itch that I had recently...

It's had discounts before and was on EU PS+ in the past. The port itself is fine (I've had no major issues with the technical quality of the port at least). I think there is a digital foundry comparison for the game out there.

Thanks. Hopefully it will go up again soon/I'll find cheap physical copy.

Playing Limbo for the first time on Vita, actually really love it. The aesthetic and sound design are amazing.

Great game, solid port. I actually love that there are still people who can experience Limbo for the first time on Vita. I didn't play it til it was dirt cheap on Steam and then still never finished it, until it finally came out on Vita.

I experienced it first on Vita, and liked it so much I played through it on PS3 too
(yay, cross-buy!)

Here's a question; I've found out that Gravity Rush was in a bundle as a voucher. Now what would happen if I got a hold of it, and attempted to redeem it, while having claimed it as a PS+ game?

Would it not work, or better, work and replace the PS+ status with a 100% permanent ownership?

Are you talking about the Rogers 3G bundle? The likelihood of finding someone with one of those is really low, lol.

Regarding that Fat Princess game: It's been out on iOS for a while. The neat about the game is that you can earn a free code of the PS3 version of Fat Princess if you get past the 15th stage of the game. Not sure if it'll the same on the Vita version.
