They haven't said for certain, but typically beta progress in ANY game does not carry over. If for nothing else, because it gives beta people an advantage. Also, if balancing and leveling gets tweaked for final release, it could throw things out of whack.

I can't imagine that it would. Based on their reactions to the Alpha players, I imagine a lot will be changing between now and Beta. We've already seen footage from new builds floating around.
 
Are pre order keys specific to the console? I've done the amazon trick and Im good to go beta wise but need to "really" pre order now. Can I pass that key off to a buddy with a ps3?

We only heard a definitive word about the Alpha pretty late in the game... That said I'd be shocked if the Beta data carried over. The only way I can see that happening is if this "Beta" was a bit more of an early access sort of thing but that's not how its marketed.

Someone on twitter could ask the Bungie / Destiny accounts, that might get a response...

Also, in more cases than not, beta are a completely different code branch from the release build and will use different databases and different builds of the services that serve them.

So basically the alpha and the beta will mostly be their own unique entities that are separate from the build that is going to end up being released at retail.
 
Corneilius86 I am intrigued about clans in this game. What is their REAL purpose? Surely it is not JUST a gathering of friends under one banner.

I didn't see any clan functionality in the game itself. All it did was put a title under my name. Did I miss something big? Because right now I'm also wondering what the practical purpose of clans are. It would be nice if there was some way to access an online member list in the game to find people to join. I did not see this option in the alpha, but that's all it takes to make it useful. As of now you're just as well off making a facebook group.

However they did indicate that they havent revealed all the features of clans yet and theyre being mysterious and cryptic about it, so here's hoping.

Sounds like potentially massive clan battles to me. The horn is usually a call to battle but who the hell knows.

No. You punch the beta key you get into a page on Bungie.net, and when the beta time rolls around you'll be asked to select what platform you want the beta for, and then you'll be e-mailed a key for that platform.

If all it does is let me link up with people in my clan, like a friends list just for Destiny, then I'm fine. xD Based on H2, it will at least keep track of stats and clan rankings.

Did you redeem the actual Beta download code, or just the code that you enter into bungie.net to reserve a spot in the Beta? Because I reserved a spot in the Beta back in April, but have yet to receive a download code from Bungie. I assumed an email with that code would arrive closer to the Beta launch in July.
 
I really want to know what is in the Collector's Edition. I just ordered two Destiny shirts off of their store, and I'm not someone who normally goes for gaming apparel. Couldn't help myself though, I need this game!

Me, too. I just want an easy in-game way to join clan member's games. Mainly because I want to have easy access to partners in explore mode, since they don't have matchmaking for that mode.

Canceled my Destiny preorder today

On Amazon since I'm going digital for this. I want to be able to jump in and out of the game at will.
