We have started from scratch to some extent. Our kids are no longer encouraged to play on full size pitches and tight 5 a side pitches are encouraged along with a focus on the short passing game instead of a long game.

Going to be a good few years before we fully see the fruit of that although it's already created some youth who are quick with their feet by the looks. Short passing and flair is much harder to defend against over long 40 yard passes, no matter how good the pass is.
 
I'm looking forward to the Argentina game especially. I think if they ramp up a gear or two they have a real shot of winning the World Cup.
 
Not the most interesting day today, I think. At least on paper. Argentine and Germany should have little problems beating their opponents.

Agreed, England's FA is changing a lot in the way that we develop new talent. And I think Hodgson's tactics were largely inline with that, but It's obviously difficult to get some of the older players to adapt. Now there's 0 pressure the costa rica game could be fun, Hopefully neither Rooney or Gerrard get played.

Eventually time removes us all.

Gerrard will probably retire from internationals after this year (He's fucked up too hard). Rooney is eventually gonna be worn out too. I can easily see Euro 2016 being Rooney's last tournament.

I'm not sure on France/Germany. France definately has the flair that has a potential to undo Germany but France so far has coasted in an easy group. Not to say they haven't played well but they've played as expected. It's gonna be a great match to watch. I'd probably favour france over germany tho cause dam those french men are hot.
 
Predictionsss

ARG 3 - 0 IRA (Argentine will focus more on the attack, your time to shine Messi!)
GER 3 - 1 GHA (Germany shouldn't have much trouble here, Muller will get 2 more goals)
NIG 1 - 0 BOS (idk)

To be fair a team GB football team would have been something to behold over the years. When you've had the likes of Giggs and Bale not getting tournament football it seems a bit of a travesty.

Yeah, It's really stupid that we haven't done it more often and it's looking like Team GB at 2012 was a one off. Maybe if Scotland sods off we can work with the Welsh.

Meltdown Dude didn't even have an Italian username/avatar lol. Sounded German to me and yet he took it worse than Italia-GAF who took the loss with dignity and congratulated their Costa Rican opponents on their win.

Italia-GAF wasn't the salty one from the loss, they accepted it from the get go.

Well the Olympics was started as an international event, with the first games in Athens and started by a Frenchman. Football, meanwhile, was formalised in Britain before any other nation played it, so we needed someone to play against.. hence individual football associations for each of our constituent nations.

Genuine meltdowns, while absolutely delicious when they do occur, are extremely rare. Such is the nature of the World Cup and this thread, everyone is so desperate for a proper meltdown to occur that they likely to jump on anything that could even be suggested as meltdownish, no matter how mild it is.

After all, when the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they believe that the fish are about to be thrown into the sea. Or whatever.
 
I didn't get a chance to watch the Honduras v. Ecuador game. How did Honduras look this game? Hopefully they didn't look as horrendous as they did against the french?

Ireland has two teams actually. Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland.

We have 1 team for rugby though, which I think is better.

They played well in parts, but both teams went in for some really crunching tackles. They also had 2 disallowed goals so they were at least trying to score.
