They didn't really deserve to move on but I really wanted Italy to win just so I can see what happens.

I've convinced myself Italy played bad just to knock England out.
Italy are always crap in group stages. Really only show up for big games or knockout games

Nahh...Italy are just terrible.

Do you seriously believe in this? Putting their classification in risk? Now that they NEED to defeat an Uruguay with Suarez?

just draw would be enough actually, but i agree that it's pretty silly to suggest they would take such a risk just to fuck with england.

I think the games were frustratingly close for the England team. They wouldn't be in this position if they were in another group and that's kinda shitty cause it obscures the improvement they've made over the past 4 years. In 2010 they had an easy group, played shit and got through. In 2014 they had a very difficult group and played well, in this case not quite well enough.

I aggree also i read that she's half German which makes her 100% hotter.

I'm afraid you're both mistaken.

The colombian simply cannot lose this competition. It's unfair I know, I've dated 2 and and they keep pulling me back in despite me trying to tell myself not to :(.

I didn't find that the defender made user of excessive force. Then again, that's a criteria rule, not a written one. The ref needs to decide if he finds that he was using excessive force.

Looking at the gif i found the order of things were:

- Striker touches the ball
- Defense (luckily) touches the ball too
- The ball is still in play
- Defense touches the Striker.

1. Defender was a bit late
2. See edit above

I don't think they're terrible since it was such a low score game. But they did not play well against costa rica.

Of course I don't actually believe it. It's just funny how they played so badly. I do know a couple Italy fans who actually believe it, though.

Yeah I'm sure they'll play well next game since it's their elimination match.

Yep, the Colombian you specifically linked is the hottest chick in the WC so far.

What you guys are on about??

If you hit the ball before the player, it's not a foul.

The site you're linking to is wrong. That article you've linked to even has links to the FIFA site.

http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/footb...eing/laws-of-the-game/law/newsid=1290868.html

From the above link:
LAW 12 - FOULS AND MISCONDUCT

Direct free kick

A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following seven offences in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:

kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
trips or attempts to trip an opponent
jumps at an opponent
charges an opponent
strikes or attempts to strike an opponent
pushes an opponent
tackles an opponent

A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following three offences:

holds an opponent
spits at an opponent
handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)

A direct free kick is taken from the place where the offence occurred (see Law 13 - Position of free kick).

Penalty kick

A penalty kick is awarded if any of the above ten offences is committed by a player inside his own penalty area, irrespective of the position of the ball, provided it is in play.

The site you linked to has this extra bit: "tackles an opponent to gain possession of the ball, making contact with the opponent before touching the ball "

That's not in the official documentation

"As a team we feel we're getting better".

Well that's cute and all Rooney, but according to objective measures of this, you're getting worse.

Three problems with the England team:

1) England have a decent pool of players to choose from, but always choose the "tenured" players like Gerrard and Rooney who are, of course, entitled to wearing an England shirt over any other player.

2) There is no such thing as a good English manager. None have won the modern Premier League, and outside of McClaren with FC Twente I cannot recall any English manager having any high-level success in the last 10 years.

3) The media. That's all I'll say because I can feel my piss boiling just saying it.

Neither did I, I even wrote that. I'm just saying "If you hit the ball before the player, it's not a foul." is not true, it can be.

Well, i was referring to this case alone. Of course there's other stuff that can deny that rule: you can use excessive force, touch the ball but let your leg go to hit a player (Ramos style), etc.

Yep, notice this when other people posted it too. Seems like the site i linked added that bit by themself.

Italy game was pretty close but the uruguay game was a bad loss.

Injury rumours.

I liked the bit about pushing, There's been SO MUCH rough play at this WC (by most of the non UEFA teams ;)) and none of it is called out. Laws of the game are worthless until FIFA stops having shit refs allowed to the world cup.
