hahaha oh my god that luigi one

Also, random, but apparently this was the song that plays in the Pilotwings stage. I guess it's time I finally dig out the copy of the SNES game I bought a year ago.

Huh... I thought it was just a song from Pilotwings Resort that I haven't heard; that's a nice find! Still hoping that this one's in the game, too.

Also, I don't know if I have welcoming privileges having just got here myself, but welcome, Zorfendor!

I just started playing Xenoblade Chronicles for my first time (found "used" at GameStop for $45. SCORE!) and while I was previously meh on Shulk being a likely newcomer, I really want him now, so here's hoping the Gematsu leak is all true....except the Lucas bit :(

(Also, first post!)
I've been continuing my playthrough. I'm now incredibly late-game, and for every twist and turn the plot takes, I keep thinking (at least, in the back of my head) what the implications will be for Smash.

I just thought of something.

I know people have been speculating that we are getting 48 slots on characters selection screen, so I can't help it but wondering if we are going to have 46 playable characters, 1 random and 1 DLC button rather than 47 playable characters. Only if DLC rumor is real.

Potential 5 cuts

Lucas
Ivysaur
Squirtle
Snake
????

Maybe Rob is the other cut?

Was anyone ever able to confirm the Mii Fighters replacing the Random slot when customizations are turned on thing that was supposedly said on the Treehouse stream? 'Cause if that's true that would be one less slot taken up on the character select screen.

How can we random if they turn customization on? I dunno since I haven't hear that from anyone yet.

I've seen a number of people mention it online, at SmashBoards, GameFAQs, and even here on NeoGAF. But no one provided a video link, and I searched and searched but found nothing except more posts from people claiming to hear that from the Treehouse stream. I don't know what to believe.

I think the point is that you can't random during custom moveset fights. Which makes sense.

That would make sense tho.

Well, I have seen you mentioned that few times but I'm not sure if other person did.

How so? Do you think Sakurai might not make Xenoblade justice?

I'd just prefer it if the game was represented only via a stage, music and assist trophies (the original game's world, soundtrack and supporting cast being its more notable strengths) rather than making the least interesting character in the game playable. Obviously due to past precedent, there'd be no chance of getting Dunban, Riki, Melia or KOS-MOS Mark VII, so I'd rather the series have no playable representation than be represented by Shulk.

Plus, then the niche of generic blond JRPG protagonist newcomer can be filled by Isaac.

...Don't most Smash characters come with all of that too when they are introduced with their series.

Can't you just not play as Shulk.

...because a voice actor does no other work? :\

Of course they do. But we're at the point where the Gematsu leak in nearly infallible. This along with the leak? Comon.

Don't do this to me; my heart can't take it if doesn't happen now.

Oh you'll be fine. At least you're not in my situation. (God dammit Snake where the fuck are you.)

I have little to no interest in Shulk, but I'm sure he'll turn out into a cool character knowing Sakurai. I hope he has some truly unique stuff, and isn't just another sword fighter, but I'm sure he will. I know nothing about Xenoblade, so he's the one I'm looking forward to the least. But I know there's a lot of people that are psyched as hell for him, so good for them

Eh I guess it widens IP diversity. Good for Smash. Hopefully they differentiate him a little from the other sword-wielders. And as for Snake, lol.

Melia really was the best.

It's too bad the AI was horrid at using her.

That made it all the more satisfying going to town with her. As I was playing, I couln't help thinking her AI was purposely bad so as to not unbalance the game, because having a decently played AI Melia on top of a decently played character by you would be game breaking.
It's quite funny how a lot of Xenoblade's characters are more interesting and fun to play than Shulk. I particularly loved playing Melia and Rikki.

I would also love getting any of the characters you mention much better than Shulk, but after Pac-Man I have faith in Sakurai making him an interesting character to play, not to mention getting him playable means a guaranteed stage and most likely assist trophies, several music tracks, etc. Also, getting Shulk now increases the chances of getting future Xenoblade characters as DLC (perhaps from 0% to 1%, but that's already an increase).

Since Wonder Red is pretty much deconfirmed and Bayonetta seems unlikely in light of the leaks, I'm willing to settle for Shulk and Xenoblade representation. :)

I guess Assist Trophies need voice actors too ;D

...oh god, Blonde Bland McBlandington and Blue-Hair the 3rd are really going to be in aren't they? :/
