This is fantastic!

I feel like I recognize this art style. Is this from the same person who did that funny Little Mac & Samus image after Mac's trailer?

Haha same.

Alright Jojo fans, should I go with the manga or the anime or both?

anime's probably more digestible right now. Still deep in Part 3 though I think, which will take another... * checks schedule* like, 40 episodes or something? (out of 8 parts?)

JoJo's weird man, but you don't need to go too far to get the pop culture bits down.

So, with the Gematsu leak now seeming very likely to be true, I was thinking about whether or not I would have leaked the info out had I discovered the final roster. While it would be tempting, in the end I feel like it's a pretty big dick move to ruin the surprise not only for fans, but for the people who have been working years on this game who have prepared their own schedule for revealing things. I can't imagine how disappointed I would be if I were in Sakurai's shoes and had all of my reveals ruined.

What about you guys? Would you leak the roster if you found out about it early?

I'd probably keep it to myself.

Well, it's double edge sword situation. I'm glad that we know the leak so it would be way easier to contain the disappointments and might prevent a lot of meltdowns in Smash Community. However, it suck for people who want to be surprised. I felt bad for companies who got involved in the production because they poured their hearts and energies on the game whom want to surprise the fans with the reveals, but I'm pretties rue that the game would be fantastic tho. I truly wonder how Sakurai felt about it.

At same time, I wonder how the heck leaker obtained Nintendo Information so easily. It would be hilarious if leaker faked the leak list at first with very extremely lucky guesses, then he kept pulling people around with second leaks with bunch of extremely lucky guesses again. It's more likely it's real leak because there is no such luck to get 8 out of 11 characters right so far.

If I got inside information, then I would not leak it out at all. I probably would slipped out a few hints but I think I would start a lot of avatar bets with people with inside informations :P

No, I wouldn't be a jerk about it. Besides, most people would demand me to provide proof of some sort, and that would be something that I couldn't provide in any fashion.

I might be unable to resist, and thus leak half. Though doing the entire thing would just be rude.

Yeah, it is nice that it gets some of the disappointment out of the way, but it's also a bummer I probably won't be surprised by any more of the newcomer trailers. The Greninja reveal blew me away because I never expected that character, but as soon as they showed him I was ecstatic; he's a character I never knew I wanted (despite him being my starter in X / Y.

You're a sick man, Heath.

I'd likely just keep it to myself. Or just mess around and predict a newcomer every now and then. In a "I predict that Little Mac will be revealed for Smash at this Direct" kind of way.

I'd probably just go to /v/ or GameFAQs and claim I have insider info. It's not like anyone's gonna take you seriously at this point.

Nah. I wouldn't leak it even if I had 100% confidence in my source.

I personally hate leaks.

I liked the anime (2012), the second part was really good.

anime's probably more digestible right now. Still deep in Part 3 though I think, which will take another... * checks schedule* like, 40 episodes or something? (out of 8 parts?)

JoJo's weird man, but you don't need to go too far to get the pop culture bits down.

Definitely go with both. The anime is very faithful to the manga.

Alrighty thanks!

If the leak is true, what are the chances of more surprise newcomers? I don't think rosalina was on the list as far as I can remember.

Haha, valid point.

I'm really hoping for this. I actually really dig all the characters on the list, even the Choir Boys, but I'd like at least 1 or 2 more surprises. Ridley would obviously be amazing, but...I don't mean to start the conversation up again.

I'd probably start threads here about my insider info until I got banned, then wait for reactions when it comes true.

Who says I know anything about the roster right now? I don't know nothing *Hides completed smash roster*

But as for an answer, I'd probably drop vague hints every now and then making it seem like mindless drivel until the night before the roster is fully revealed, then I'd just make a thread spoiling everything.

Yeah, I want to do one of these. I want proof that I knew, because my ego needs to stroked, but I wouldn't want to spoil the fun beforehand.

Oh and if someone caught on to my leaks, I'd purposefully start dropping fake leads and then break their hearts 2 weeks later with vague correct leads. Can't allow anyone to believe a word I say until I choose when they should be allowed to believe my leaks :P

If I got the full final smash roster I'd leak it in the bat of an eye and watch the tears as people deny until more and more evidence comes out proving it true until the final roster was confirmed and laugh at all the "lucky guess" people

Also I'm pretty sure the gematsu guy knew Rosalina, she was just confirmed before he could leak her

I'd leak it but make some obvious ones vague as hell and some crazy ones damningly specific

So things like

"That one female character from Kid Icarus"
"Shulk"
"That sword user from Fire Emblem"
"Chorus Men"

Most likely not. My reasoning being that I plan to try my hand at some indie game development and if I have a huge surprise, I'd rather people not ruin it.

I would present the leaked information, but frame it in such a way as to make it seem really incredulous. Like a "Sakurai is a friend of a friend of my uncle" story.

Kinda like salromano calling them "guesses" but a bit sillier. :P

Same here, dude. I'm trying to get a bunch of art ready to pitch some game ideas, and every time I see a leak I just think of how pissed I would be if someone ruined my reveal process.

If I had insider info.. I would only tell a select few of friends, and that would be it. I'd probably draw some things to hint it off, or even make a 'fake' character select screen that has all the characters that would be in Smash 4. :P

Actually, on second thought, I'd reveal the info using pictures that vaguely relate to the newcomer:

Villager, a picture of my house (referencing the house mechanics of AC)
Mega Man, a picture of a boy with a toy gun (Mega Man is a boy, and shoots)
Wii Fit Trainer, a picture of my shoes (she doesn't wear any)
Rosalina, a picture of a stick (she has a wand)
Little Mac, a picture of my Lord of the Rings books (Boxing Ring)
Greninja, a picture of a Japanese beach (Ninjas are Japanese, Greninja is water type)
Mii, a picture of a random celebrity/political figure (you can put them into Smash)
Palutena, a picture of a lightning bolt (Ali Hillis voices both Lightning and Palutena)
Pac-Man, a picture of Bad Anon from Wreck-It-Ralph (Bad Anon is in Pacman)
Chrom, a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan the Barbarian (Crom is mentioned in that movie)
Shulk, two sticks forming an X (Xenoblade Chronicles X reference)
Chorus Men/Kids, a wrestler and a male singer in the same picture (referencing the Wrestler from the Rhythm Heaven franchise)

Ok Shulk and Chorus Kids/Men may not be vague enough but I'm very unfamiliar with the franchises so I can't think of things that'd pass off as being incredibly vague hints.

That said, were I making something that was really popular I'd be the leaker myself XD

Dropping small hints and stuff just to gauge reactions covertly and adapt my development to fit if the feedback warrants it.

Sometimes I feel like the only one in the world who genuinely likes Shulk, "generic protagonist" or not. Also find him the most fun to play as, although Melia and Dunban are pretty fun as well.

I'm glad that this Xenoblade discussion actually kicked off but now I'm afraid of spoilers.
I don't blame you. I've had some big plot twists spoiled for me just from browsing earlier SmashGAF threads. With so many people participating, it's kind of unsurprising you'll run into a few who are unscrupulous with their open spoilers. (No names; I actually can't remember who did it!)

Yet, just enough remains unspoiled for me that certain plot events still surprised me.

Man what a bunch of johkahs.
"I see your strength is the genuine article!" :P
"But we mustn't be careless!"

Yeah, I've always how often developers do that. I know with Smash the roster was apparently decided from the get go, but it would be interesting if something like the Palutena leak was on purpose, just to help decide how to reveal her. Though, I'm sure that's not what happened.

Oooh, that would be a fun idea. I wonder how crazy the GAF theories would get on what each picture meant.
