USA today. Eagles will be crying, freedom shots will be slung. Pong will be played. Mailmen will deliver mail even though it's Sunday. Jesus will come down and kiss Klinnsman's beautifully Californian tanned head. The work will rejoice at the splendors and glory of America, land of chicken and waffles; of Medicare scooters; of both kinds of apple; of trucks bigger than planes; of presidents faces carved into giant slabs of rock; of the wonderful manifest destiny; of eskimos and old-folks homes; of lebron and tiger; of barackackackacka Obama the great; of the political stalemates; but most importantly at the god fearing, state-and-church separating, blood infused organ donating, yes, the festering, boisterous, generous, selfish, racist, politically correct, and brimstone-and-firey passion of the greatest population in the universe, the citizens of the united states of America.

Can we agree that Spain is the worst World Cup winner of all time?

The scored 8 fucking goals(The same amount of goals as Holland after 2 games in this WC), all of their matches were boring as fuck and they embarrassed themselves defending the tittle by getting eliminated after 2 games.

When you put it that way, yes. Still, that spanish team was one of the best of that world cup. The overall level of the tournament was not very high.

Spain is the worst World cup winner and Greece is the worst European cup winner.

Any other England fans struggling to reclaim enthusiasm for the World Cup? I'm still enjoying it, but nowhere near as much as I was before we got dumped out of it. Strange, as I never expected that we'd do particularly well, but I thought we'd be in with a shout of getting to the knockout stages before the Costa Rica game :(

Be seated.
Men, this stuff that some sources sling around about America wanting out of this war, not wanting to fight, is a crock of bullshit.

Americans love to fight, traditionally. All real Americans love the sting and clash of battle.

You are here today for three reasons. First, because you are here to defend your homes and your loved ones. Second, you are here for your own self respect, because you would not want to be anywhere else.

Third, you are here because you are real men and all real men like to fight.

When you, here, everyone of you, were kids, you all admired the champion marble player, the fastest runner, the toughest boxer, the big league ball players, and the All-American football players. Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser. Americans despise cowards.

Americans play to win all of the time. I wouldn't give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That's why Americans have never lost nor will ever lose a war; for the very idea of losing is hateful to an American.

They only scored 8 goals cos that's all that was needed. Yes it sucked that they just passed the ball around when they got the lead but the teams that were playing Spain in 2010 didn't help either. They were content with just watching Spain pass the ball around the midfield instead of pressuring them.

Seriously though, I'm still amazed that it took this long for someone to finally knock them out of their groove. It's still sort of perplexing that they've won the last three major tournaments. They were labeled as underachievers and rightfully so and bam they go on a run of winning tournaments. I wonder how the next generation of Spanish team will look.

Yes. And even when they scored, it was simply passing the ball into the goal. Like everyone had fallen asleep while they were tiki-takaing including the keeper and at some point a Spain player found himself standing inside the goal when he got the pass. Still, apart from their first and last match they were so sovereign. That's a quality too. But yes, truly worst football system ever.

Wow you guys have such a short term memory.
Spain from 2008 - 2012 was the most dominant team of all time.
They didn't play that well in 2012 but it was still enough to beat France, Portugal and Italy on their way to the title.

so if Qatar did get stripped of hosting the world cup, who would it go to ?

Fuck all you guys and your Portugal hate. Messi scored a wonder goal yesterday so Ronaldo will be pumped up to score something even better. And if Bento will be smart, Willy C will play from the start because we need a strong midfield and Veloso is past his better days.

Can't wait for the USA to show Ronaldo what freedom really tastes like tonight.

Dempsey is going to run rings around him.

Also fully expect pepe to come charging onto the pitch at full time and headbutt all the USA players in anger at Portugal being knocked out

USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA

do they actually have a system in place for when someone gets stripped, (i think thats probs a stupid question with how fifa seems lol)

wouldnt it be logical do delegate it to the country who came second ?

No? What does it matter if Spain only scored 8 goals to win the WC? What does that say about every other team in the tournament? Fact remains that aside the opening match, Spain dominated that tournament and came away winners, Same applies for Euro '08 and '12. Worst World Cup winners? I understand people don't like Spain and that's cool, but no need to lie to yourself about them.

Players 'tried to skip England duty'
Harry Redknapp says he dealt with players at Tottenham who tried to avoid England duty.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp has managed West Ham, Portsmouth, Southampton and Tottenham
Harry Redknapp says he dealt with players at Tottenham who tried to avoid England duty.

The QPR boss, who has also managed West Ham, Portsmouth and Southampton, made the claim on BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek.

"When full internationals came around, two or three players didn't want to go and play for England," Redknapp said.

"They'd come to me 10 days before the game and say: 'Gaffer, get me out of the game. I don't want to play in it.'"

Redknapp, who managed Tottenham between 2008 and 2012, declined to name the players he was referring to.

"I said to them: 'It's your country. You should want to play,' he said.

"And it's only going to get worse. They see the stick that the England players get. They're earning fantastic money at their clubs, they're all playing in the Champions League and they think: 'Do we need that aggro?'"

Former Southampton and England forward Matthew Le Tissier, who won eight caps for his country, said that he was upset to hear Redknapp's comments.

Le Tissier told 5 live: "It's horrible to listen to. I was desperate to get more caps. It's not great to hear that coming from a manager with the experience that Harry's had. It sticks a knife through your heart."

Redknapp added that he believes England have no chance of achieving Football Association chairman Greg Dyke's target of winning the 2022 World Cup.

Defeats by Italy and Uruguay have seen England knocked out of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil in the group stages.

Redknapp, said: "Will we win the World Cup in Doha? Not a prayer."

Dyke set England the target of reaching the Euro 2020 semi-finals and winning the 2022 World Cup in a speech made last September, shortly after taking up the FA chairmanship.

But Redknapp argued that an influx of foreign players at youth level was damaging the progress of homegrown talent.

He said: "It's a problem at youth level. I'm sure the best youth teams in the country have plenty of foreign lads in them.

"At one time, the youth team was probably more about local kids. Not just English kids, but local kids. I grew up at West Ham, and all the kids came from that area. We didn't even have kids from the north of England.

"Now when you look at Chelsea and Manchester City, certainly in the last few years, they've got an awful lot of foreign lads in their teams. That is a problem as well."

England have not gone beyond a World Cup quarter-final since they reached the last four in 1990 and have only won it once, in 1966. Their best performances in the European Championship came when they reached the semi-finals in 1968 and 1996.

Roy Hodgson's England side have one more Group D match to play in Brazil, against Costa Rica in Belo Horizonte on Tuesday.

Japan better not get it again

Having it in 1994 and 2022 is cutting it fine already imo for an acceptable gap between hosting it, let alone 2002 and 2022

Good morning. Later today, players from the United States will join others from around Portugal, and they will be launching the largest sporting megaton in the history of mankind. Mankind. That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. The United States will once again be fighting for freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution… but from annihilation. They're fighting for their right to live. To exist. And should they win the day, the twenty-second of June will no longer be known as the day America cared about the World Cup, but as the day when the world declared in one voice: Football will not go quietly into the night! Football will not vanish without a fight! Football 's going to live on! Football's going to survive! Today we celebrate Portugal's elimination.

Sounds like more british players should play in foreign leagues as opposed to it being a problem that foreigners are increasing in number in the domestic british league.

No system in place, no. Knowing FIFA, they'd re-run the vote and award it to anyone but the USA out of spite.

Yes but this isn't a logical organization. Apparently the US has already been told to prepare something in case Qatar is stripped off it, which I doubt will happen... But you can hope.

But British players are shit. They would have to end up in Belgium or Ukraine to get a chance to play.
