I don't think it's ridiculous to say they are already legitimate. If you are fielding a borderline top 10 team based on rankings, I can't see how you shouldn't be viewed as legitimate. GAF would have you believe otherwise, though.

It's hard for people who mostly follow soccer to contextualize other world championships like basketball in the olympics or the WBC. Unlike the World Cup, the best players in the world often are not a part of those competitions because the teams that pay them don't want them to be or, in some cases, the players themselves can't be bothered.
The MLS has been in an upswing every year I believe and the US is getting more diverse especially via the hispanic population. I think in 10-15 years it could definitely challenge the 2nd and 3rd most popular sports in the US.
This I agree with. It sucks horribly though.

The only international basketball competitions that matter are the Olympics and FIBA World Cup. The USA typically sends their B or C squads and still do great. When they do send their A squad, they dominate. I'm not even sure how anyone can argue this.

Thank you, I hate reading it. I've been a fan of the sport for a long time. It's just not as big here, yet that disparages us from being fans of it? Any world class tournament will bring out more people because it's a point of pride to root for a national team. Football snobs are the fucking worst sometimes.

Well to be fair the team who beasted the most in the NBA is composed of quite a few international players. But yeah US has the best talent pool for basketball.
