The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
I can see it now.

World Cup in Qatar. Joe buck commentating. Hot women not allowed to show cleavage.

Worst World Cup ever.

Fuck the heat and slavery, that alone should be an automatic disqualification of a host country.

guys, do you still gave them ice hockey type penalties over there? the ones from nasl? they were awesome, much better than normal penalties we have now, fifa should have adopted that

agreed (also their full backs are horrid), but lots of great WC teams take a while to get warmed up before they click and steamroll their way to the final. France 06 comes to mind.

I hope they sort themselves out, would be great to watch. Maybe a better team will bring it out of them rather than killing them.

Gus Johnson? No thank you. "Iron Robin! Turns, FIRES IT INTO THE UPPER RIGHT-HAND QUADRANT OF THE NETTING!" He's completely out of his depth knowledge wise and has a tendency to yell for no apparent reason. All he can do is regurgitate basic information such as a player's nationality. Considering he knows very little about the sport, he's almost tolerable. That's being as kind as I possibly can. Besides, like someone already mentioned Alexi Lalas isn't commentating, he's stuck behind the desk in the studio. At least they're partially looking out for us.

this is verbatim what he says every match good god

Gus Johnson and Taylor Twellman are about equally awful to me. but I have faith Gus can one day turn it around. Twellman is just clueless.

A Jeff Van Gundy type is EXACTLY what ESPN/future rights holders need to be going for. Cut the jingoistic garbage, "everyone be excited!!! look at how great this is!!!" rah-rah cheerleading bullshit, give me smart, interesting analysis from a smart, interesting personality.

Gary Neville, basically.

Holy shit did you watch the champions league? At least lalas is only on studio shows and we get Ian Darke calling the marquee games

I really like the combination of Ian Darke and Steve Mcmanaman calling the games. They have the best chemistry together and I always like it when a player does something stupid on the pitch and Steve just lets out this groan of "What was that? or What was he thinking". It cracks me up

Efan Ekoku is also someone I like. I can't stand Taylor Twellman calling the games, rambles on aimlessly about unimportant shit sometimes. And as said above Gary Neville is pretty good at it.

Jon Champion and Stewart Robson are a good pairing imo

Just reading back in the thread during the last 10 minutes of USA-Portugal. Holy shit hahahaha. I've missed a few great days here on WC GAF. :(

Still think Germany and USA get through anyway, goal difference is a major factor.

Belgium still look disappointing, flipping Algeria putting 4 past Korea just epitomises the bad WC Asia has had, and no one looks like stopping the Costa Rica train right now!

Also lol England. Just had to get that in as an Aussie. :)

Okay, what you ppl think:

Solid? I need to send my bets till midnight Brazil time...

I agree with this...

The left side of the bracket sucks. It's a must for Chile to beat the Netherlands tomorrow, the right side is just much more favorable (plus no 2nd round game versus Brazil again).

I believe Chile is a better team than Holland, but Robben, man, that old-man is fucking scary.

...hate me...
What's Portugal-GAF's reaction and also Portugal's media reaction to the outcome?

Surely they can't be happy with the draw.
A lot like the team, we just breathed out a bit of a sigh. At least we're spared of the immediate embarrassment of losing to the US (again!) and getting the boot this early (although it is all but coming soon anyway). There's no happiness, just a mild discomfort and everyone is already thinking about the aftermath from this World Cup.

I can't wait to see the tv ratings for this game. With all the coverage the US-Ghana game got (and considering this was a weekend game), I'm expecting the viewership to break the records the previous game broke.

Ronaldo putting the national squad on fucking BLAST

Damn son... All true but damn

US side should be gutted, but the odds are ever in their favor.

Portugal is fucked unless they score like 5 goals or Germany destroys US
Oh I feel completely empty. This is going to ruin my Monday.

Of course it could have been worse for the US. But to give up a goal like that with 30 seconds to go.... Ugh.

Everybody is disappointed. Media points fingers at the coach's bad decisions and overall bad performance of the team. Ronaldo is talking right now and you can tell he's accepted defeat, even says that he hardly believed about becoming World Champ and agrees when the media says Portugal is a mid tier team, not a top one.

Only fools are talking about math and hope and not giving up until the last moment.
