On the topic of Dan Rykert, Game Informer did a documentary about when they played Super Smash for 27 consecutive hours in order to get the world record, and Dan was a part of this. He already has training for the GB 24 hour charity livestream. It's an entertaining watch, Dan and the others slowly descend into madness.

I remember watching that a while back. Good stuff. GI surprisingly had some pretty good video content, always enjoyed their Replay stuff too. Looking forward to see what he brings to the GB table.

Hopefully more than those world cup tweets...

Yeah, GI has had some great personalities for some years now. Their Replays and Super Replays have been really good for a long while. It's a shame that not more people know about that side of GI, I guess most people just assume that GI is just the magazine.

Ryckert always seemed like the main guy behind those videos though (and Jason was the video guy for Replays/Super Replays).

Hopefully more than those world cup tweets...

His entire contribution to the site will just be him sitting on the sofa complaining about soccer :)

He is an unrepentant troll, most of the people replying to him must be followers of his, how can they not realise? Both sides are as gullible as each other.

If he is the GB hire I think a lot on here will be happy but he might be a tougher sell to the general GB community if he doesn't tone it down a bit. That said, I can see him getting off reading the comments.

Having followed the guy for a few years due to his appearances on the GB E3 live shows, I'm pretty sure he won't tone that side down since it's a big part of his personality. But I think he'll go over well with the community because of his general enthusiasm of everything video game that isn't a MOBA and his humor. Haven't really seen that much of Jason, but that dude seems way into fighting games he's already cool with me!

That thread that just popped up about new graphics in Dwarf Fortress just made me remember how sad I am that we never got any more of Dave/Vinny fucking around in the game.

After wrapping up the most recent Bombcast I'm only going to hear every single "Huh" from here on out. Thanks random email guy.

They need to do a "Danny Explains Soccer to Jeff and Dan" quick segment.

Danny: "So, a player is considered offside if he's past the last field player before the ball is delivered."
Jeff: "Delivered? Like a pizza?"
Danny: "No, delivered, like a pass, a kick, from his teammate."
Dan; "Man, this fucking sucks."

"And this has been 'Danny Explains Soccer to Jeff and Dan.' From Giantbomb.com."

I dunno. Danny got half the rules wrong when he tried to explain cricket. As a foreigner who just about understands the basics of NFL - I don't think the rules are what put americans off the game.

Soccer really is one of the most simplest professional sports in the world. I would say Americans don't like it because there sometimes long periods with no goals but then they like Baseball, and that's the very definition of a sport that you watch drunk because nothing happens for a long time.

So, I'm a Canadian that's been doing some thinking and I realized what a lot of Giant Bomb video content reminded me of: Mid-90's the Zone on YTV. Paul, Phil, Snit, and that weird Elvayz thing. I guess Canadian Kids TV is basically public access so that makes sense.

You can't tie in baseball.

Ties are the worst. They're unamerican.

There was a week or two about 5 years ago that I understood the rules of Cricket.

I dont remember it being that complex, you just have to get past the silly names they have for everything.

Not all of us like baseball, baseball is boring. Soccer is a lot better than anything that has to do with baseball imo. Also yes tonight was pretty heartbreaking, but I don't mind Ronaldo, so no biggie. We are still in it, hopefully we can beat Germany.

As an American who doesn't like sports, hasn't gone to any sporting event in person, never tries to watch sports on TV, or even understands the basics of a single sport.

I never liked Soccer because the camera was always super zoomed out when it was on TV, and I just felt very unattached to everything.

I lived in England for 5 months a couple of years ago, and got to know a couple of really big cricket fans. By the end of my stay I understood (most of) the rules of the game, but if you asked me anything about the sport now I probably wouldn't remember shit. It's not that it's so complicated, it's just so uninteresting.

You americans need to go ly dow after tonight.

Myggen get your Arthur avatar ready!!

I see Gies in your near future!

Man, I hope team giantbomb new york does the Divinity: Original Sins Quick Look.

There are so many ridiculous thing vinny can do in this game.

Cause what everyone wants is for the world's slowest moving sport to go on for even longer.
