great headline

Ahahahahahhahahahahhaha. Headline of the year.

This is the weakest attacking Uruguay team in history. What on earth happened to Cavanni? Lavezzi devolved into a sub. And Suarez can't stop biting people and will probably not play. I'll take a perma ban if Columbia doesn't beat them by 2 points. Quote me on this.
Lavezzi?

I think if you open up the can of worms that is banning players after the fact you'd get a whole bunch of different WC outcomes with people complaining from all sides possible. All im saying.

Should have been called on the field? YES, as any other foul play.

I don't know if you were aware but punishing players after the fact has happened plenty of times before.

This is just embarassing

You know nothing. Post match banning has been a thing forever if the referee hasn't seen it.

In every single league in the world, for at least the last 10-15 years.

In 2010 the illegal action he performed was sanctioned while in the game. So i don't see how it's a comparable situation.

not uruguayan but I still can't believe the salt over the 2010. The guy got a red card (e.g. was PUNISHED) by the handball. The Ghana player missed the penalty after that. Had he scored, nobody would've given a shit about the handball. There's a difference between that and biting somebody.

I'll admit it is a different situation, but that's not what i'm asking about. What I am asking about is if the Uruguayan media and it's fans are going to ignore this incident or if they are going to be like everyone else and criticize him for it.

when did I say I was not aware? I just think it's a can of worms and that FIFA and any league is very delicate about it.

Soccer rules are shit in many aspects and many things need to change. No one's denying that.

Banning players after a match is part of the rules. The referee will be asked if he saw it and made the decision not to do anything. If he says yes, nothing happens. If he says he DID NOT see it and thus made no decision either way, there can be a ban after the match.

Pfff. Are you trying to pull a David Hayter "I'm not in Metal Gear 5, true story" or something?

Perma me if Columbia doesn't win 5-0, with every single goal being preceded by a front flip over a defending player.

So let's say if someone knocks someone in a coma but the ref doesn't make the call, you can't punish the player later?

Go home Salsa, you're drunk.

regardless of anyone's opinion on the banning matter I just honestly think it won't happen, which is what im saying.

never said it should or shouldnt

Why not just come out and say you think Suarez should be suspended. You know deep in your heart it's true but you don't want to because your team needs him and you don't want to lose.

But in any other situation you know what you would be thinking and saying.

Permaban me if I mix up an Argentinian with a Uruguayan.

The "can of worms" was already open, Tassoti was suspended by FIFA after the match because he was violent against Luis Enrique. That was in WC 1994.

Actions have been taken before m8.

If it doesn't happen the other players should boycott until he is disciplined. Who the fuck wants to play against a guy who could bite them and get away with it? What kind of precedent is that setting since you're so damn interested in precedents and slippery slopes.

So what does GAF reckon, did Machisio deserve a red card for his kick? Or would a yellow have been more than enough?

It's a red. The ball is on the ground, close to him, and he instead puts the studs up into the knee of another player.

Clear red.

Not really. I honestly don't have a strong opinion on the matter. If it happens i'll be bummed for what it means for our chances, but i'll understand it.

how is it opening a can of worms when a player who bites someone for the third time in his career--as far as we know--gets a post-match ban because the referee didn't see anything?

Even the President of the Italian Football Federation has resigned

BREAKING! Cesare Prandelli & President of the Italian Football Federation, Giancarlo Abete both resign from their positions. More to follow.

Disappointed of course with the loss. I was in shock at the Marchisio red card but the Suarez bite, amazing, just too funny now.

Prandelli resigning is good, especially after saying he wants to play more attacking football but goes for a draw in both games. Bringing Cassano in for either game....
Should be a big transition in how the national team plays into the Euros with all the talent on the wings being developed. Time for almost a complete overhaul.
