Can't post tomorrow since I'll be in a local place enjoying breakfast.

Would love for the USA to win, but I'm expecting a loss.

Would like to make it out of the group, but I'm expecting a 3rd place finish :(
USA will be 2nd place, i want you to be leaf. Klose will get his record..then Dempsey (the all-around American hero/rapper) will score with his nuts...again. It'll finish 1-1 with Klinsmann and Low hugging it out and reminiscing on the glory days of Deutschland

Stolen from reddit, what happened in a greek neighborhood in NYC following Greece's upset of Ivory Coast and first time entrance into the round of 16:

Fixed that for you.

Sorry US fans, no team has won after playing in Manaus and only England got a draw (in a meaningless game). Ghana + Germany wins, easy money.

If Ghana win 1-0 and Germany win 1-0, Ghana and USA will have the exact same score and number of goals scored/conceded... Does that mean USA will advance because they beat Ghana?

Well the group stage isn't over yet,
US looks like they could take the lead in time!!

oh i didnt notice that. hmm

They're counting when Clint Dempsey got kicked in the face. According to that list, Dempsey's broken nose was a flop.

That stat is meaningless. The 4 teams that played in Manaus before the US stunk in every game. There was no Amazon hangover. They just weren't good. Both Cameroon and Croatia were expected to lose, or have a good chance of losing, their games after Manaus even before playing in the Amazon.

Yes. FIFA, in their infinite wisdom, made head-to-head the third tiebreaker. Should the US lose 1-0 and Ghana wins 2-1, the two countries will be tied on points, but Ghana will go through ahead of a team that beat them. That's the result I expect tomorrow since international soccer has taken to torturing the US as of late (the disallowed goal against Slovenia, the disallowed goal against Algeria, Dempsey getting punched in the face in the box against Algeria with no call, getting beaten out by Qatar to host the World Cup in 2022, the women losing the World Cup on penalties, the men saving their bitter rival Mexico in qualifying for no reason whatsoever, being drawn into the group of death).

Is there actually any US fans chant beside the usual "USA...USA...USA...!"....?

"Bulllllllshiiiiit Buulllllllllshiiiiit"

We can just use that Ole Ole Ole chant half the teams have.

Although at the bar I was at for the Portugal game we also were doing that "I believe, I believe I, I believe I can win" one

Is there a way to stream the games from earlier today? I missed them, now I can only find highlight reels. I've avoided seeing the results so far, I figured I'd be able to find an archive of the games on the BBC website or ITV but so far no dice. Am I just blind or is there no way to watch them except for the highlight clips?

You mean Croatia who looked decent against Brazil, smashed Cameroon and then get crushed by Mexico? The Italy that looked strong against England and then looked lethargic against Costa Rica?

Ghana and Germany will win, think I'll put some money on it in the morning.

US team also made the stupid decision to travel to São Paulo before going to Pernambuco.

Let's be fair to FIFA here. The World Cup comes around every 4 years, so it's not like they have a lot of time to sort this tiebreaker stuff out.

If the chant before every game is I believe that we will win. Isn't it fair to say that the belief is that the US is gonna win the world cup?
Should we admit defeat before we show up? What fan buys tickets to a match and resigns themself to failure before it starts? Get over it man. Just because you are more talented doesn't mean you are absolved from having to perform well to win.

it's easier to just shit on the team. he's been doing it the entire world cup. just ignore and move on.

Uruguayan media is delusional if they think they can talk their way out of this one. The whole world knows. Trying to discredit Italian (sore losers!) and English (persecutioners!) news reports won't do shit. You can't talk away the rest of the world. We've all seen it. German, French, Spanish, Brazilian media have all clearly stated what happened, and the rest of the world has seen it as well.

Iraqi defence minister etc etc

It's FIFA's duty to step in and end this and give him the lengthy ban he deserves.

Head to Head being the third tie breaker makes sense to me. Group stages should be about total performance and if you can't be a total package then you shouldn't advance. At the end of the day if you all won, lost and drew the same amount of games, I don't really see why anyone should give a shit about who you did and did not beat. It should be about total points and statics since that is the best way of determining who performed the best in the group. The format is meant to draw the most out of every match and if teams already know that a head to head puts them through, it cheapens the whole spirit of the competition.

Great read. The way the Uruguayan media have dealt with Suarez is truly bizarre. This shit has been happening his whole life, he needs fucking help. Stop treating him like a misunderstood child.

I can't - for the life of me - understand how can the media is trying to victimize him as if he's some poor misunderstood player and it's being wrongly accused of something he didn't do.

They're a relatively weak country and he's the best talent they've brought forward in years (Forlan as well), of course they're going to be protective. But then, his escapades escalated more and more, and at some point the media collectively had to make the decision: do the right thing and finally drop the bastard, or throw your lot in and completely double down on the counter-allegations to protect the only player who keeps the country at least somewhat relevant and competitive internationally?

Sadly, they chose the latter.
