America cannot afford to lose this game at any cost. Ghana only need to win by two goals to progress into the group stage. America need to play a lot better defensively if they are to progress, otherwise they are out of the tournament.

Well, I still remember when we defeated the US in '98 when the WC was in France. One of Germany's most well-known late-night talkers (Harald Schmidt) said about that "Germany defeats the US on French soil. Some elderly watching this had tears in their eyes."
 
I'm cutting out two hours of my sleep on a day when I have summer school/a quiz in the morning and a shift at night.

Hoping for an exciting 2 games at 9.
 
Seeing Germans using Über alles as a cheer for their team is certainly a bit strange.

But hey, I'm not judging I will again use every little bit of foul language in my arsenal against South Korea today.
 
As crazy as this sounds Germany can be eliminated if the US beat them say 3-0 and Ghana wins by 3 goals..won't happen but this WC is fucking strange you never know..

Never heard anyone here in Germany sing that line in person. Not even once. You only hear that via a news report showing some Nazis maybe.

And in general: Sing that line and the vast majority of Germans will not talk to you anymore.

It is strange but Germany hasn't lost a game in World Cup with a 3-0 goal difference for nearly a century, so US GAF you better find some better points.

Would love to see Portugal score 3 goals early, scaring the Germans a bit into playing safe, then have Ghana tie it up late. That would be the best result for the US.

The best tactic for them would be to play really dirty. Agitate the German players, try to screw them into cards. "Inadvertently" kick the shins of the star players, maybe even injure one of them. Germany is already through so they're going to be all wtf we need them and start playing cautiously and field their B players.

Of course Klinsmann is way too nice for this, so Germany can stay calm and score tonnes.

Unfortunately the one American nasty enough for this (Jones) is carrying a yellow and has been the best US player this WC so far. The US team just isn't dirty enough to do this, and if they did they'd probably draw reds not yellows (US has a bad habit of seeing red at WC)

Thats... pretty embarrassing and I have to admit I feel ashamed but I can guarantee you that the Germans here in the country wont ever use such bullshit when it comes to our national football squad.

This shit here on the internet is inexclusable and not remotely funny and I hope all those guys spreading Nazi paroles, especially as Germans get banned. I am sorry for those guys.

A 1-0 loss to the Americans and a 5-0 win by Ghana would eliminate Germany, feel better that i made it a 1-0 loss?
 
I like to believe they just got caught up in the hype. I don't think that these guys are actual nazis.

I know that most of you are pretty cool guys. ;)

I think if you say this crap on the streets here in Germany you can actually go to prison
because of Volksverhetzung(incitement of the people).

Even on GAF paroles like this are inhuman and glorify a picture of the arian superhuman established by Nazi Germany. Its simply wrong and even without context disrespectful. This is football and World Cup and all, but bullshit like that has to stay out.

I like dark jokes, even some who are in bad taste but everything Nazi is too outlandish for my taste. Heck, I never liked the PC Master race jokes either.

Half German and half French here, but although I understand the sensitivity, I think Germany is over-cautious on that topic. There's nothing really wrong fundamentally to have an anthem claiming your country is the best, that's more or less its original purpose : it's not supposed to be politically correct, but a song to the glory of your nation. Heck, the Marseillaise claims we'll fill our tracks with our ennemy's blood. :P (it's another much discussed topic actually, but I'm fine with it).
Of course history makes it so that Germany wants to keep a low profile, but there's no reason to do it forever.

Funny thing about that, I can laugh about this stuff, since Germany practically killed off the word "race" from the German language.
