Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the tweet, but ESPN is reporting that FIFA officials in the stadium are telling them that the field conditions will be checked an hour before game time and a decision on whether or not to play will be made then.

edit - ESPN just reported that FIFA are now saying that the pitch is operational as of now.

So youre saying theyre doing what they do before every game thats played?

Not possible. We don't have the technology for that fast of a moon landing. Yet.

Banning for X number of games is not a good punishment because Uruguay FA can just arrange losts of friendly games and summon him to "consume" the punishment and still use him in the WC Qualifiers or Copa America.
He should be banned from FIFA official tournaments.

Doubt it. 9 games plus he can't even practice or be at facility for 4 months is my read. Oddly specific and sounds to me like a negotiated deal with Fifa/Clubs. Sure we'll find out.
