I don't mind Dan's twitter, i find it amusing a lot of times. He has very polarized views on topics. A lot of cases it seems like he loves or hates something with little room in between, and he will happily share his opinions and reasoning on why. I think his style of humor comes across a lot better in video/audio than it does in text.

I'm just pointing out the weirdness of criticising something you claim to have no interest in. Personally, another person's opinion on the popularity of soccer in a country I don't live is not something that would ever bother me.

Also Dan is right. Soccer rules are stupid. There's no logical reason a team should move forward after losing. Then again I despise all organized sports and everything they stand for, so I'm not the target demographic.

I think the main reasons is the weight class Jeff picked. It's a heavy weight head on a light heavy weight body. That bodys got a lot of tightly packed lean muscle. But at the same time, weight class totally affects play style so EA should really let you go in and tweak it a bit afterward so that you could fuckin shrink the head to fit the body.

That's kind of the status quo for Giant Bomb, though. They drag their feet on stuff until they finally try it and suddenly it clicks. See: Souls games.
 
I forcefully retract anything critical or even neutral I've said about Drew. Just in the last week or two it seems like he's gotten much more comfortable on the Bombcast and in quick looks. I'm glad he's playing more games.
 
In the SGDQ thread, we felt like it was right to go for a particular incentive related to GB (at AGDQ we got Robo named "RyanD"). This time, we should get Yoshi renamed to "Gerstman". Below is the recap of what's happening.

  • There is an incentive to name Yoshi during the Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door speed run that takes place tonight at 1:45 AM. (Yoshi doesn't appear in that speed run for about 2-3 hours in).
  • The best thing for the Giant Bomb community to do is to donate towards "Gerstman" winning the vote (Named Gerstman due to character limit in the game).
  • "Muxie" is a French speedrunner that appears to have a lot of support. As of this post, he's raised $1,100 and is gaining speed to overtaking Gerstman's $1,244.
  • As always, be sure to write in the comments that you're donating towards naming Yoshi after the #1 Yoshi fan in the world, Jeff Gerstmann
 
UPF starting early today

Jeff mentioned on Mixlr it's going to be a longer show - starting it early but finishing usual time. No idea what the two of them will be playing for all that time.

Dan's not around to be on it, but maybe the new video producer will be on today's show? It also could be they managed to have Alexis and Danny bring games or something too which could lead to a longer show.

This makes no sense. The fact that people are using this as ammunition against soccer (including Dan) is just the worst. I've got no problem with people not liking something I do or vice versa, but don't act like you are being 'logical' when you are being the exact opposite.

Sounds like Jason is just packing up and moving today based on his Twitter, so I don't think he's in SF yet.

I went to videogamesnewyork today! I met the guy from the gbeast video. He was very chill and down to earth. He was also extremely knowledgable about games. Hope he shows up in more content.

Chillax dude, never said the were racist or hateful I have never get that vibe from them, However, curious enough Patrick is the most "hated" giantbomber. For god sakes just read any Anita Sarkeesian thread, the majority of the community duders don't strike me as the progressive kind.

As many people have pointed out, I'm not but hurt because this dan guy is trolling soccer, I'm actually more upset by the lack of quality of said trolling. Shitting on stuff based on prejudices is lame, you can shit on soccer properly refer to John Oliver FIFA video if you like.

I mean that would imply that those tweets lack any value, but it's clearly obvious that it is a personal reflection on his own (and others) role in the industry as a journalist and a fairly astute observation on the state of the field in which he occupies within that industry. This is also ignoring the obvious fact that his actions are more than his combined tweets.
