That first paragraph is pretty rough, I gotta admit. It also assumes you already know that Shovel Knight is a Megaman-style retro platformer, even though that's not really explained until a few paragraphs in.

The game isn't really creepy per se, just super trail and error-y with somewhat funny deaths. Pity that he didn't get to that.

Run starts at around 1:15 AM EST. I've watched some Paper Mario TYD speedruns on youtube and Yoshi pops in around 2 hours in. The good thing is is that riding Yoshi is faster than just walking around, so Gerstman should be featured a lot.

Patrick's Shovel Knight review is really fucking clever, if it's trying to mirror in review form what the game boils down to. It reads like a checklist (classification, story, "how it's different" #1, base mechanics, world mechanics, sound, "how it's different" #2, anecdote leading to..., difficulty, verdict) and everything seems in order. Publish!

Was not really a bet with anyone in particular, I just said out loud that if Carrie Gouskos was not the new editor, I would have a Big Bang Theory avatar (instead of my GOB one) for a few weeks. Once Dan left Game Informer though, I knew I had made the wrong choice, so started using the avatar.
As if there was any doubt, Jason pretty much confirmed on Twitter that he and Dan will be announced as the new hires on Monday:

Anyways, I think one of the good things to come out of Vinny leaving for NYC is that he can maybe make some content on Mondays. Besides Bombin', it's a wasteland because they record the podcast on Mondays in SF. Vinny and Alex won't have that problem!

I remember her saying on some GB content (a PAX panel, I believe) that she can't go back to the press side to give criticism because she's seen how hard the process is one the dev side etc. So I don't think she'll ever "come back".

Yeah, I'd say 8 at the most. Personally it felt like a 7.5.
In hindsight? I remember having to force myself to finish it and at this point I couldn't even tell you what happened in it. It was not great.
