Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

Would be cool if they had something like that, I remember kind of enjoying that mechanic in Borderlands, also created a shitload of variety in the weapons.

So here's another one, are the weapons all pre-determined, or is it an RNG type deal?
They are all hand crafted, but all able to be upgraded. Some have exclusive choices on their trees.

Predetermined, last I heard.

It's a mix actually. There are a number of specific weapons made.. but there can be varying stats/qualities to those weapons. The only ones that are 100% unique are the Exotics I believe.

Can you remember if the bosses were types? Or did it only apply to the regular mobs?

I don't believe the bosses in the Alpha were of a specific type but if one were, it would've been Septik Prime (the big eyeball looking boss). Since he was purple-y, perhaps Void would do more damage to him but I didn't actively test for that so I can't say one way or the other.

I plan on getting this game and all, but ya'll people are a little bit... scary.

Who are "ya'll people"? I bet you felt pretty satisfied with yourself after making that comment lol. Why try to incite another page or two of hostility?

Anyway, I'm also hoping that the Beta increases the level to at least 11 or 12. Picked up some good stuff during Alpha that I couldn't equip :/

Don't worry, we don't bite.

Though Dax might send you to your room every now and then. That just means you've been accepted into the group.

Right, Dax?

;-(

I just can't shake this feeling that Destiny was a bad fucking idea, and to see a bunch of people getting exited over it just freaks me right the hell out. Same feeling I had about Brink I've got now.

It really bothers me because Bungie fucking owns, this game just feels *wrong*

Shouldn't you be saying something like this for a game that deserves it more? Like every call of duty after 4 for example.

I have no idea how this werid anti destiny stuff came about. The game has looked awesome ever since bungie first revealed it. People just immediately label it a generic halo clone and apparently get freaked out about the games existence.

My account finally got approved.

:)
Welcome Datto!

Did you look at your Youtube traffic and see that a massive chunk of your hits came from GAF and, in particular, this thread? :)

I'm expecting the level cap to be upped by four to level 12.

Not sure why.
I think it could go one of two ways:
1) We could get a slightly higher level cap, maybe somewhere between levels 12-15. Can't give everything away before launch after all :)
or
2) We could be able to get to level 20, but only on the starting subclass. This one may be stretching it a bit, but it could still be a possibility.

Vortex grenade was definitely more effective than the others for the bosses in my experience. Not sure if it had a specific or inherent advantage though.

I don't know about the other classes, but the beauty of the Vortex Grenade is that it's Damage over Time, so it was always good to throw under the Devil Walker and just let it do it's thing :D

The Alpha was Levels 3-8. I'd like to see the Beta being Levels 7-12, with only a small number Rare drops, like 1 for each gun type or armor slot. (don't want to be spoiled for the retail release)

It may just be the nature of how that grenade works but I think the vortex grenade (wizards grenade correct?) is Void.

I'm probably just greedy, but I'd love to see something of the other three subclasses in the beta. It really makes no sense for them to show that at this stage, but, sod it, give me levels 10-15 for the beta.

Pure Speculation with a bit of Evidence: It seems like each class will have its own element. Hunter = Solar
Titan = Arc
Warlock = Void
based off of the supers which obviously show each of the elements.

However, I don't think that in the Alpha any of the elements were taking effect as they should in the Beta/Full game.

Taking this a bit further into the speculation arena, each class could have armor/gear/abilities that upgrade there respective element.

Pretty safe bets, as the TITAN SMASH!! super from the starting subclass gets upgraded to be able to do Lightning/Arc damage, and that the Hunter grenade from the starting subclass has the Flash-Bang ability as well as the glowing Golden Gun.

It's related to subclass, not class. For certain, though from various sources:

Titan gets arc and void, Hunter gets solar and arc, and Warlock gets void and solar.

Titan striker is arc
Titan defender is void
Warlock voidwalker is void
Warlock fire singer is solar
Hunter gunslinger is solar
Hunter edgewalker is arc
Hunter edgewalker is arc

I also think it's a fair indication that there will be third subclasses in future, filling in the gap (such as, solar titan).

This looks about right, I know the second subclass for hunters (bladedancer) utilizes arc though and the second subclass for Warlock uses solar.

Hey, this guy gets cookie. :P

I didn't want to go too far out, but yes, it seems probable that the subclass would decide the element as the Hunter's get Arc Blade (Arc). For some reason, athough I thought of the Hunters gaining arc and the Warlock "Resurrection" being Solar, I didn't think of Titans getting void which would explain the "Blink" footage we saw before that I (probably) mis-categorized as Catapult.

Also, I think it'd be really cool and somewhat likely (since it's in other RPG style games) that each Subclass could have unique exotic items and such. :3
I already said this above, what am I doing.

Anyone know how much the Halo 3 collector edition cost and what was included with it? I am trying to figure out how much money I will be losing soon.

$150 or so, It had a Spartan Helmet case to hold all the shizsnaz, came with the game, behind the scenes stuff, HD remakes of all the cutscenes from the series, and other stuff I'm probably forgetting. :P I bought it when I was 13, so I probably lost anything that was small and papery.

$150.00, if I'm not mistake. It included the helmet, Halo 3, some great BTS footage and the Beastarium.

There's more, but those bits were awesome.
Granted I don't live in the US, but everywhere I've seen online has said it's been US$129.99 + Tax at launch.

My apologies if that is what caused confusion, NZ has the GST (Goods and Services Tax) built into the sticker price of any goods and is not added when you take your items to the counter.

Do you think it worth purchasing or not really?
I bought it as well at launch and it still sits in a very prominent place on the top of my bookshelves, next to my Play Arts Kai Master Chief figure and my little white-armoured Halo 3 Spartan as well. I'd say it was worth it :)

With any game, it just depends on how much personal enjoyment you will derive from it. I loved it at 13. I bought the Reach Collector's Edition, and loved it too. For me, personally as a huge fan of Bungie, yes. It might not be for you. You'll have to evaluate that on your own based on your budget and desire. :P

What is solar, arc, and void? Also, is there a collectors edition yet?

Collector's Edition info is being announced on the 7th of July. :P

its just GAF hyperbole, the people in this place have a tendency to whip themselves into an unhealthy HYPE frenzy, try not to engage the zealots, you should be alright
