Gallisa is Spanish in Origin, and Alexis pronounces it with a Platanese accent, which would normally indicate that he's Argentine or Uruguayan, but I've been told in this thread that his family is from Puerto Rico.

Reading this thread hurts my head. Basically unless the team consists of a gay person, a transgender, only one white male, a female of ethnicity, a white female and black male then they are racist. It doesn't seem to matter if those aren't viable candidates due to ability, that should seemingly be neglected to fulfil the notion of being equal. Is this what people wanted?

It seems impossible to please everyone.

No one is saying they need to represent every permutation of people possible, the discussion is about how great if would be if there was any diversity added to the site's main staff. The implicit arguments here -- that there must not have been any qualified minority candidates with ability or that it's not with prising diversity unless we include everyone -- are kind of gross and don't address any of the concerns being brought up.

In fact, this argument about including everyone, as well as a few others, come up in every thread touching on diversity to such an extent that I may seriously have to create a Bingo card.

Diversity is obviously welcome if it comes naturally, but forcing the issue to fulfil some sense of social deed would be a totally pointless and misguided thing to do. And calling anyone at GB racist is just beyond stupid.

The whole point of this discussion is pointing out that it rarely comes naturally due to systemic issues in the industry at large.

Yeah, I feel bad for Dan and Jason. People on twitter calling them bad hires because of traits they have no control over. That's straight up bullying.

Yeah, it must suck to have people bully you for traits that are outside of your control. I can't imagine what that's like.

People shouldn't do it, but it's kind of sad to see this when I often see from other gamers to just ignore the vile bullshit slung online.

I don't think it's necessarily about this specific event so much as it is about structural inequality, this event which just so happens to make apparent still exists - not necessarily by GB hiring these duders, but perhaps moreso by the plethora of people coming out of the woodwork to say 'what are you guys complaining about' or 'they just hired the most right people for the job' or 'they're the most qualified and they're known already!'

I saw a few things on Google that point to Polish when trying to find out the history of the surname. Stumbled into an ancestry forum talking about Klepek's in Chicago that moved there in 1955, so I am guessing that is related.

It's true. They kept it quiet until footage of the bar fight at Steff's leaked onto the net. It was awful, Danny had Brad in a headlock and kept showing him misinformed GAF posts without letting him reply.
