I must say, USA if you should have played the whole game like the last ten minutes, you maybe would have stood a chance :)

Didn't really understand that they didn't even try during almost the whole game

Belgium don't park the bus. They have mandated an attacking gameplay for all their teams in club and underage. They won't park the bus, they will believe that can defeat Argentina in open play, and I won't put it passed them they way they both played today.

ARG, and fans everywhere, will appreciate that.

The thing is, your asking him to play in a way that he's not used to playing. He isn't a creative midfielder nor an offensive minded one either. Completely misused by Klinsman me thinks.

The man couldn't even complete a basic pass. No excuses he was fucking garbage. Where he was playing had no impact on how shit he was. When you can't even make a basic pass that's on the player not the coach. Plenty of times a guy was three feet from him and he somehow found a way to screw up. I hope he never plays for the U.S. team again.\

Belgium sitting back had a lot to do with it. The U.S. couldn't complete basic passes which killed their offense. At the end they finally found a way to string together some passes so of course they would look better.

I wonder what sort of team the U.S. Would field if the nation at large gave a damn. Huge talent pool and potential investment could make for a phenomenal side.

Dudes that play soccer gets no bitches in high school here. So everyone drops the sport and either plays football, basketball or baseball, wrestles or starts smoking weed.

US played a solid first half, checked out completely in the second half, and then returned with a vengeance in the last 12ish minutes. Shame about the loss but at least we finished stronger than most of the game was going.

It kinda sucks watching these games when you're not emotionally invested in the outcome anymore. Its fun getting heart attacks! Hope the games ahead are as close as the ones for this round.

The lino flagged it offside (incorrectly), so I think he was actually relieved xD

Yeah, it was flagged according to the BBC commentators. If that had gone in and they had called it back, it would have been so ugly. The US would probably just have soccer ball burning piles all over the nation and we'd probably invade the ref's home country.

The team that couldn't stop over 80 shots on their goal in the past 4 games really shouldn't be in the quarterfinals. No suprise here.

Ah yes, I knew this would start. :lol

He has a point, but his point doesn't take into account that the US has a lot more citizens than other nations, we have lots of money to train and build up players, and so on. I mean, sure, if the US's number one sport was soccer they'd be a lot, lot, lot better, but there are so many other factors that just stating something so...simply...is insulting.

Yeah, Bradley's not suited for that role, but he's more suited to it than anyone else on the squad. Defensively and positionally, he aced it, but on the ball, he had obvious issues.

That's gonna haunt him for a while.

This is the difference between a midfield and a striker. That close to the gk, high ball, not knowing where the GK is, you go with your head as there is a high chance of the keeper blocking you, which is what would have happened if he actually kicked the ball correctly.

i'm just hoping a team that hasn't won before takes the cup home this time, so i always end up rooting for the under dogs who end up squandering easy goals and then falling apart at the end

GG USA

Now get rid of Klinsmann as soon as possible. There's a reason he's the only German that all of the Netherlands is extremely fond of. No hope with Klinsmann.

As long as the US refuses to acknowledge that football (soccer in your terms) is the biggest sport there is you will not reach anything but the 1/8 rounds.

The US can have such a bright future in terms of football if they just invest, invest and invest. It can take centuries but eventually the talent pool will open up and wonderful things can happen.

There is no other sport other than American Football, sorry, but your fake "football" is not a sport! :p

Americans can be proud of this team. Fought well in this tournament but today were outplayed by a clearly stronger team.

There was NO fighting.

Time and time again has shown us you can not win cups by playing defense at cost of offense.

People praising the one dude who did his job but who alone can not win a match. Silly stuff

Do you even watch football

Did you watch Chelsea in 2011/12

DID YOU

On a more serious note, I suspect participation will only grow as the NFL concussion issues keep coming to light.
