PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

quick question, when you pre-order something in the EU store. Does the transaction go through immediately or do you still require to add the funds to your wallet and keep the balance of it until they charge it one day? (Specifically Destiny)

Also anyone having trouble with the PSN store when adding funds via Wallet? Getting an error message saying my details aren't correct but it's pretty obviously correct as I used the same card for the last year to buy a crap ton of stuff from the store.

I'm 100% certain that after PSP/PSone-gate on the Vita store that SCEA fired their team and hired monkeys. I don't mean Great Apes either.

There's a Vita version of this game but Bandai Namco didn't localize it. It's PS3-only in the west.

Those busted PSP games that you can buy on the Vita store but can't download are also still there. PSone Classics section is missing too.

Oh, and the Canadian store has a Magical Beat DLC folder despite the game not being available in Canada.

I bought it ages ago and played for about an hour and just got utterly bored. Why does this game get so much love here? Does it get better/deeper/interesting later on? It feels so shallow so far that I can't bring myself to go back to it.
The game structure is super shallow with just going from a to b while fighting enemies, but I like the core combat enough that I'm okay with it. Play it on hard difficulty and play the game just for combat.

The beautiful art and story is just a bonus.

Dafuq!

I would love to have the VIta Version of this game!

I'm quite glad I finally got Deception IV Vita, thanks to the sale. What a great little game. Just beat Chapter 3, and having fun unlocking new instruments of death and chaos. Getting that feeling as if I were playing Chaos Legion or Godhand...

And then there's Battle Princess of Arcadias. Ha, playing that Side-by-Side with Valliant Hearts... I like a lot of Arcadias' animation work better (more unique frames and traditional-style animation, less obvious flash-like animation), but Valiant has the better cinematic direction. They're some of the most polar-opposite games possible, which helps perfect the others shortcomings.

Liking Vandalliant Hearts SO much more than "The Cave", which left me feeling as if it squandered it's potential the deeper I delved into it.

The biggest issues with Muramasa when it first released on Wii:

- Up on the Wiistick to jump made controls crappy to many.
- Lots of Backtracking.
- A crappy translation that would sum whole paragraphs into 3 word sentences. Even those who didn't know Japanese could tell the story seemed shaved down and lacking in detail. This also made many things make less sense than they should.

For the Vita, everything has been addressed in one way or another, and it feels much less like a lazy port (as many on Vita feel), and more like a game made exclusively for the system. The controls were fixed (even made configurable on the Vita Version), and the translation was made "better" (much closer to the JP script, but has usual Aksys moments of dramatic vulgarity). Once those hurdles were surmounted, people could focus on the fact that the combat has a nice flow to it, that's pretty much unlike almost anything else. This is usually enough to let people overlook the reuse of stages and assets, because it's so pretty and unique in this day in age, that we can forgive them for that.

The game is anything but shallow, I'd say. Learning how to move, what skills to use, and getting better and better so that you can take on harder difficulties all can be very rewarding. The boss battles are all fun too, and the game is made in a way where leveling can get you through almost anything, so it's easy to avoid getting stuck at difficult battles. Coupled with the various difficulties, and multiple endings, the base game has some meat, if you wish to perfect it.

And then lastly, the DLCs. They're much better paced than the full game, I'd say, and offer fully unique characters with their own fresh movesets, cinematics, voicework, bosses, and endings. They're a solid value, and there's still 2 more on the way.

Muramasa clicked for me, when I started to try out the challenge areas, which forced me to really learn how to play. Trying to avoid breaking weapons, learning to use each style for it's strengths, getting to know the enemy attack patterns... all served alongside some of the most meticulously draw food every to grace any media.

Trying to clear my Vita PS+ backlog before I move onto Muramasa

Finally got around to finishing Limbo. Wow. Such an overrated game. Cool artstyle and puzzles, but the trial and error style is frankly annoying.

I'm buying steam dig and octodad tonight.

If anyone thinks these are bad purchases let me know now or forever keep the peace.

Steamworld Dig is a great little gem. I'd rank it right under the League of Fabulous Vita Indies [I've actually played], which as of now is composed by Velocity Ultra, Hotline, TxK, Knytt Underground, Olliolli and Mutant Blobs Attack.

I agree about it being overrated. Its atmosphere is as good as the overall gameplay is mediocre. It's the indie game I liked the least on Vita, worse than Puddle (which is suprisingly getting better though), Urban Trial and Thomas Was Alone

No Guacamelee? Get to it! ASAP!

Agreed, thought I was alone in thinking this.

I thought that everything just before
the factory stuff
was great. then, the game really dragged, which is a pretty bad thing to feel for what is a 3 hour game.

I bought it during the sale too, and have been pleasantly surprised by how much I like it. My only two complaints are a) ridiculously barely-there costumes on the main women (though your female targets aren't dressed like sex objects so I guess it's a demon thing) and b) the initial charge-up time on traps means you have to plan pretty far ahead in advance and for some reason your target doesn't run over the trigger properly you have to circle back and hope they walk over it this time. Oh, and you have to remember to reset the trap chain.

Other than those two minor things, I've really enjoyed it. I especially like the steady stream of secondary goals your minions give you.

I really wish we knew for sure if Child of Light is 30 FPS or 60 FPS. I'd really like to know before I go down and pick it up.

Judging by some of the posts in here it seems like this might not be as smooth of a port as the two Rayman games were.

Would it being a smooth 30FPS as opposed to 60FPS be that much of a deal breaker for you?

I'm happy as long as it runs smoothly, which from what I've read it does.

Yep, for the most part it is very smooth and playable.

Finally!

A Fair and Accurate representation of Vita today

Was not expecting this but its a great article

Yeah, it's a really well made article.

Yesterday I gave a Luigi-like death stare to a friend that said "the Vita is dead" while I was looking for some interesting stuff on a shelf at CEX. He just stepped back and left me alone for a while lol.

Maybe I should link it to that friend XD

That's a decent deal that EU is getting. One thing I feel I must say...

All you EU Vitacats! If you liked Tenchu, and crave more stealth ninja action, buy Shinobido 2!! It's a wonderful game from the Vita's launch that will entertain you for hours and hours with it's 10+ types of missions, multiple endings, random mission layouts, two playable characters, stealth combat, near infinite stream of non story missions, deep alchemy system, and (often hilarious) physics system.

Plus, bears!

Takes the money around the time the game is released. If you have automatic funding turned on then it will take the money from the card linked to your account. If you don't have a card then yeah you need to top up your account prior to it taking the money obviously

Looking in CeX was your first mistake. One near me has a piss poor selection for anything outside 360.

But yeah I agree Sony trying to posit the Vita as a console experience whilst omitting L3/R3 and R2/L2 was really dumb.

as I said earlier, definitely not as smooth as the rayman games. additionally to a lower base framerate (some people say it's 60fps, but I'm pretty sure it's not) there are occasional stutters when the game's loading/saving. it's not major, but if you are bothered by these kind of things I would wait and hope for a patch. In fact I wouldn't have bought the game if I knew about these issues beforehand (because it bothers me) - now I'll wait and hope a patch before playing it.

So in Persona 4 Golden,
I finally beat Adachi and Ameno-sagiri and it's just the final countdown to the end of the game and going after Marie, but I got to wait for Margaret to contact me.
It's kinda bittersweet the game is coming to a close, but it was a great ride. This is definitely pumping me up for Persona 5.

If there ever was any doubt about Cross-buy for the Ratchet Trilogy in EU, there is no need for that no more.
Frank Dutton on the EU blog has said in the comments:

It is indeed Cross Buy – if you buy the PS Vita version you get it on PS3 too.

Is Murasama like all the other Vanillaware games? It will be pretty hand drawn sprites and background but since it takes time and money to make you will replay the same levels again and again? Wondering if I should waste bandwidth on it.

It was a weird situation. I had met with a friend in order to buy some birthday present and we went to Fnac. But then the guy whose birthday was that night appeared out of nowhere in the 360 shelf. So we had to try and keep him entertained while other guy bought the game and hide it on his car.

Really, really weird situation.

Is he the source of the patented "CeX smell*? How often does your friend shower?

Do you have a super tight bandwidth limit? Muramasa is pretty small - less than 500MB iirc.

But the background seemed varied enough for me. Of course, doesn't expect much: rural areas from the Tokugawa shogunate, bamboo forests, open areas around Mt Fuji... the various sections of one location won't look much different from one another.

So glad there's the option of buying Child of Light on the Vita without all the DLC, it's almost half the price. None of the DLC looks compelling enough to be worth that much.

Killzone Mercenary received another update.

Hi everyone,
We'll be rolling out Killzone: Mercenary update 1.10 a bit later this evening.

This contains some revisions to the spawn system's selection criteria, which we're hoping will improve the mplayer experience - particularly for team-based play. We'll continue to review spawn quality, so please feedback on any issues that may still be in play, post-update.

Elsewhere, we've also addressed several stability issues that the community's highlighted, and tackled a couple of the reported glitches that people were exploiting in matches. Again, combined, we hope this leads to an improved play experience for everyone.

Finally, for those with the Botzone update, we've added new botnames as chosen by the winners of our recent competition. If you spot yourself in there, then many congratulations :smileyhappy:

As always, your feedback's been invaluable in putting this update together, so please continue to post thoughts and comments via the forum.

The major outstanding issue that we're still pursuing are the reported grey screen spawn locks that some of you have seen. If you are still experiencing these, we'd be interested in details of the session times, together with who was in the round with you at the time. Video footage of the session would also be invaluable, from those able to capture it.

I'll raise a separate thread shortly for people to report back on that issue. Alternatively, feel free to send through details privately if you'd prefer.

Thankyou for the continued interest in the game, and we look forward to sharing news on further updates in the near future.

Regards,

Matt

Question for you all:

I've downloaded Strider to PS4 since it's free now, and no matter what I do, the game thinks I have the trial version. I go to click "unlock full game", it takes me to the store and the store says I own the game,

How do I fix this?

Uninstall everything Strider and reinstall.

Golem DLC might be the only one worth your while.

Can anyone confirm if the CoL Bundle Packs for Vita are free to purchase for them? Or is it only free if you bought the deluxe edition on PS3/PS4?
Edit: Because I just bought them for free and I don't own the Vita version of CoL.
