Found this while perusing reddit. Anyone else read it? He makes a strong argument for Ridley's inclusion, or as strong an argument one can make when one's premises hinge on observed patterns.

I'm of the opinion that Sakurai teased Ridley the way he did expecting for fans to commit to an uncertain hope,

Reading over the leaks on the last couple pages, I could buy any of them as legit...except for Bandana Dee being in one (that kind of invalidates it). It seems like a character some people want (for some reason) but is far too minor/generic to ever actually show up in a Smash Bros. game. That said, I doubt either of those leaks is real and if some of their guesses shows up it's purely luck. With that in mind, it's believable to me that Mewtwo, Ridley, K Rool, and even a Toon Ganondorf with a dual sword fighting style could all show up. It seems likely to me that if Lucas isn't included in the game, he's a serious contender for DLC. Knowing how Sakurai loves unlockables, it would also make sense for alternate costumes to be something you need to unlock, especially if there are less characters themselves to unlock. I just don't think those people actually know that these things are happening.

So, if you were to choose another company to create a Smash Bros. style crossover fighting game, who would you choose? Capcom is a really tempting choice for me, but after thinking about it I actually think Square Enix would be my first pick. I know they made Dissidia, but I'd love a game that brings in other franchises like Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts.

And, you know...maybe sneak in Geno while you're at it.

Sega. Get the Sumo guys on it, although I think going more Power Stone would be neat.

Just for fun, if I was creating a Smash Brothers 64 Sega Roster I'd go with...

You guys kinda missed the point of my post, I wasn't saying that Peach's alt doesn't look like Daisy. I knew it was based on old school Daisy, but that has nothing to do with my post.

I posted that picture because it shows that Peach's alt is just Peach with Daisy's colors. It didn't turn Peach INTO Daisy.

Where in any Zelda game is there a been a character named Dark Link that has that design? Just like all the other pallet swaps, that's just a pallet swap that's a nod to Dark Link

Besides, I'm talking about characters that are 100% separate characters like Ms. Pac-Man. Almost every character has a dark version of themself that's technically a different character.

Show of hands, anyone here expect another Smash Direct before the game launches?
Personally, I do. I expect one that'll:
-Announce the complete starting roster and starting stage list for the 3DS Version
-Announce the release date for the Wii U version
-Announce a last set of playable demos pre-release (Maybe demos for the Wii U version during a 3DS launch event?)
-Have a run down video of going through the initial menu and modes of the game on the 3DS version, like Brawl did.
-Show off how good the online is with a video of a match between two fairly distant places, once again, like Brawl did.
-Give more info on the Amiibo launch, the Gamecube controller bundle, and any other bundles
I'd expect this to happen about 1 month before the 3DS version launches in Japan.

I don't recall right off if it'd be possible for him to cast that shadow, but it could've been teasing him (especially since Pikachu was there) and the fact Ridley would be a stage hazard.

Not unless Charizard has a Ridley alt costume and can hover in the air. We saw Ridley's wing for a bit, it's definitely not Charizard lol.

I saw the analysis by Gamexplain, it looks a lot like Ridley's wing not Charizard's.

Peach is one of my favorite Nintendo characters, I know exactly what her models have looked like over the years and Daisy has always had a different model. It doesn't matter what Daisy represented back then, she had a separate model and a separate name.

I don't know man. He said a lot of the things i've been pondering for a long time now. There is just a really weird way he is handling Ridley compared to well... Everything else in the game! Doesn't have to mean he's playable but at this point I just can't believe he will be Pyrosphere's Yellow Devil.

I honestly think that Ridley was not planned initially. Once Sakurai saw all the Ridley hysteria on miiverse he made his decision and he will be a DLC character. I can just feel it like a dagger through my butt.

And yes there is Ridley hysteria, it is the single most controversial Smash Bros topic outside of casual VS competitive. Ridley may not have been that big of character before Brawl, especially coming from something as niche as Metroid but the way we discuss him over and over, we have made him into something more. I'm betting Sakurai took notice just like Nintendo as a whole took notice of how we glorified Luigi's death stare and even dropped the joke in their E3 Direct.
