I wanna make it a goal to try some of the best chocolate out there outside of Hershey's at least once in my life. What's the best chocolate (bars) and where can I buy them online? Is there some obscure amazing orgasmic chocolate bar out there with my name on it?

What is widely considered the world's best chocolate is Godiva. It's very very good and these things are of course all a matter of taste. Not sure you can order it online as it would melt? If you go to any major city there should be a retail shop somewhere. Expect to pay say $10 to $15 for a bar the size of your finger.

Isn't it just a heavily marketed brand like Grey Goose?

I went to Godiva in Metrotown in Burnaby BC.

I didn't understand the hype. I paid a lot of money for average chocolate.

Not really. It's not heavily marketed at all. I'd say lower tiers spend a lot more on their marketing than Godiva. And grey goose tastes disgusting. If you want to compare it to vodka it would be with beluga.

It tastes very good and it is very smooth and refined. Even though it's expensive it is pretty much what the OP asked for.

Godiva is the beats headphones of chocolate. Also you're not going to be able to buy "the world's best chocolate" at the corner drug store or gas station ( where you can buy Godiva )

Godiva is the worst major Belgian chocolate brand.

Fly to Belgium and go here:

Just come to Bruges and get some chocolate over here from a real Belgian chocolatier.

EDIT: What EviLore just said

Man I love Lindt white chocolate. Then again I also like Cadbury top deck. Probably the best chocolate I have had was at a small chocolatier in Western Australia. Everything hand made and it also had fresh chocolate milk which was just incredible. Then again, I've never been to Belgium or Switzerland so there are probably things on street corners there which are much better.

Love Royce chocolate. Pretty sure you can only buy it in the US from one store in NYC. Multiple boxes are always on my shopping list whenever I travel to Asia.

Honestly the Lindt 70% bars you can get at most supermarkets are pretty damn good chocolate. Lindt is a quality Swiss chocolate maker since 1845. Don't get over 70% cacao though otherwise it's nasty.

Lindt is hands down the best chocolate you can buy in any grocery store

Strange request, but a few years ago I was in France and I found some Milk Chocolate with Sesame by Cote D'or. It seems it has been discontinued now

It was like this, which is still widely available, but IMO the dark chocolate version is much inferior with sesame...

by chance does anyone know a high quality brand of chocolate that offers milk chocolate with sesame? pls it has been 5 years since I have tasted it.. and it was hands down the best chocolate flavor i've ever tasted...

edit: btw OP, Hershey's is complete dog shit in the chocolate world..

See if the closest big city to you has a chocolatier, I had some from a "local" business once and it was very good and also just neat

There are actually tons of great Swiss chocolate brands. I find it sad that only Lindt ever gets mentioned.

I prefer Cailler or Camille Bloch chocolate for example. Ragusa bars by C.Bloch are heaven.

Not the best in the world, but in terms of availability Cadbury's and Lindt will blow your mind if you're only familiar with Hershey's shitty chocolate.

Valrhona is probably the highest regarded brand of quality chocolate, especially in Europe. It's used a lot by dessert chefs in fancy restaurants. Lindt is another great brand, and easier to find than many of the others.

If you want to try something different, try chocolates made in Modica, Sicily. They use a special recipe without milk that gives the chocolates a unique, grainy texture and a subtle taste. From personal experience, CioMod is a good brand.

When it comes to pralines, my favourite brand is Daskalides. But some of the best can be found in small shops that make their own.

Good on you OP, trying something different. From someone who has lived in a few countries and a couple USA States trust me when I say Hersey's sucks ass compared to what is globally available.

Go nuts and see what you like.

I'll be honest. I think Marabou is the best. Like hands down, nobody touches them, not even remotely the best.

I know it's no finer chocolate for snobs, but damn is it good.
