69 days away from Smash (on 3DS... and in Japan). We still have about fifteen or so unconfirmed characters, and about fifty PotDs left. I'm sure they will leave a lot unconfirmed until launch, but I bet we get one more new character and maybe two more vets. I wonder if we get will a Pokemon XY-esque leak days before. That was one of the best threads I had the joy of following on GAF.

I don't know.

You guys should form a 3DS Smash Only club then. :O

I imagine Sakurai will keep the PotD going well after the 3DS version launches ala the DOJO after Brawl's Japanese release.

And yeah, the Klefki/Binacle meltdowns were glorious.

Geno is probably the only character that would make me absolutely lose my shit. Perfect combination of a great character, essentially-zero chance of inclusion, and awesome possible playstyle... it'd blow minds. Or, at least, blow my mind.

I seriously hope that this guy wouldn't release it to public but I know some people would take it as good step toward to Project M U but I don't really want any cheaters online for Smash or Mario Kart.

Hopefully Nintendo would patch if it's possible, or at least ban those offenders.

being able to inject code to the game (and the wii U SO possibly?) could be a huge deal.

Same. So much potential, but I understand that he's sort of an irrelevant character at this point. Now, if Square wanted to make an honest sequel to Super Mario RPG...

I'm sorry, what? You think Samus being in the Power Suit she's wearing 99 percent of each Metroid game is a disservice because some people won't immediately recognize her as a woman?

Does she need little pink hearts and female symbols painted all over the power suit so it's obvious she's a gal?
Please don't misquote me. Thanks :)

ZZS is possibly the least important "character" in the entire Metroid series. I don't give a shit about Other M, and she was included before that game anyway.

And I don't think her as a woman needs to be visualized at all. It's more of a treat in the games if anything. The focus on ZZS in Smash downplays her character and the major traits I've always loved about her if anything to me.
Zero Suit Samus is literally Samus in a different suit. Not only is she not the least important Metroid character, she is the most important Metroid character... Just without her power suit. Also, who said anything about Other M? I didn't.

Her need to be visualized as a woman is my opinion. The Samus people know and love will always be the faceless, big shouldered, arm cannon'd robo bounty hunter, but Zero Suit Samus allows people to have a Samus that they can visually identify as a woman, without taking away anything from suited up Samus. It's like Iron Man and Tony Stark. Iron Man is cool enough by himself, but Tony Stark makes Iron Man work even better. They work in tandem to create one cool character.

I'll be getting both versions of the game on day one regardless, (I said back when the Wii U was announced that I'd buy it the day Smash 4 was released and not a day sooner, and I'm sticking to that.) but does anyone here think there's a chance of Snake making it back into Smash?

It would really suck to lose a unique moveset like Snake's, but it seems like between how edgy the series is going and how Hayter doesn't record Snake's lines anymore, it seems kinda hopeless... I hope at least Snake's moveset is given to another character, a la Lucario inheriting most of Mewtwo's moveset.

The Tony Stark comparison is nonsensical. Tony Stark has an interesting personality and was an important part of Iron Man since its creation. Samus without the Power Suit showed up in an ending and as a bizarrely colored cheat code.

Tony Stark is also generally not playable in any Marvel video games outside the armor.

Why is Samus no longer visually identified as a woman with the power suit?

After collecting all of Ground Zeroes' tapes, I am not sure I want anything of Kojima's to be near Smash again.
How so? I never played it, but is there something particularly bad about Ground Zeroes? Or did it just take forever to get everything?

It probably won't happen, but an Advance Wars character could definitely take some of it.

Kojima's idea of edgy is to take a female character, make it so she's repeatedly raped while in captivity, force another male character to rape her, then sew a bomb in to her vagina. It's mostly bad writing, but it's also on the edge of this "What person could possibly not think this is cartoonish bullshit?" that Kojima's always walked a tightrope on and this time decided he was going to fall in to the abyss of fanfiction.

You didn't hear about Skullface raping Paz and forcing Chico to watch?

I did hear about there being a rape scene, but not in that much detail. Though I can't judge it in all fairness as I haven't played it myself...that sounds utterly ridiculous and seems to just be going for shock value.
It definitely makes sense Nintendo would want to distance Smash from that.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Metal Gear was a lot easier to take seriously back when it had shit like psychic gimps, bisexual vampires and a dude who could command bees to materialize a tommy gun out of thin air.

I'm not sure if this comment was made in jest, but it really was.

That's the thing for me, though. I only enjoyed the first Metal Gear Solid, as it seemed to kind of know what it was. The sequels had parts I enjoyed, but the universe is too goofy for me to watch a 45 minute cutscene and to take it seriously. The series' tone is all over the place.

Clearly it has an audience, though, so I just figured there was something I was missing.

I never took it seriously, It never took itself that seriously. It just was proud in it sillyness. Now that it is trying to take it self seriously, people are realizing, kojima not the best writer of villains. Continuing to have to up the anti, when in actuality the base child soldier war mongering business is evil enough.

I hope rising continues, if it does i am probably going to end up liking that series way more than base mgs.

Good games DaBoss. Matches were really fun, especially those Metaknight vs Ike matches.

I need to learn the Sheik matchup lol.
Yea, good games. I was sad that Wolf can be chain grabbed like that, but it is like perfect training to prevent myself from being grabbed which I do too easily.

Kojima's treatment of female characters is absolutely magical.

A lot of his older point & click games allow you to molest underage female characters.

Is this a trap? If it is I fell for it.

They share like one move. The charge ball thing. I guess Samus had the same moveset as Mewtwo also.

Technically ZSS and Sheik already got Snake's moveset since they each have one new move that's kinda sorta similar to one of Snake's I guess.

Yup.

Yup.

Until someone gets codec conversations (I'm guessing Palutena) no-one can truly have inherited Snake's mantle

Oh. My. God.

Hi, I'm new on GAF, even if I spend so many time reading you through the shadow :p it's my first post, please understand. (Not English native speaker)

Speaking of newcomers I'm not very happy with Palutena and Chrom to be in if the leak is true.

Hades is my favourite bad guy in Shin Hikari Shinwa/ Uprising, and Smash 4 needs more antagonist character... He's charismatic, funny and his chara design is soooo good.

And in an other hand, Chrom is not a good character in Kakusei/ Awakening (storytelling-wise), most of this FE cast was garbage IMHO the only one I should keep is Lucina.
Smash needs Lyndis/Roy/Hector or the Sacred Stone male twin.

Oh, Goemon and Bomberman could be amazing newcomers too, but I reject the Belmont option even if he make waaaay more sense than Snake.

Mega Man really reminded me of Project M Snake, to be honest. Great at damaging with projectiles, not so great at finishing off the opponent. This could be because it's just plain harder to kill in Smash 4, but he really did remind me of Snake a little because of that.
