I don't know how it works on Xbox these days since they switched from points to currency, but the first time I bought something on the eShop and wasn't hassled about saving my credit card was such a nice surprise compared to the XBLM. Nintendo does some questionable things, but at least they've gotten this right; I prefer to have my cards linked to as few retailers as possible.You can use your credit card. If you want to it can store the card info for you and then it forces you to add a pin code for your card as a security measure. Just remember that there is an option to pay the exact amount needed for whatever software you're buying, it shows up if you don't have enough store credit. So to avoid buying something by mistake never add credit to the store before hand. Because that can't be hidden behind a pin code.
