True, but Earthbound 64 wasn't going to feature Ness, so that doesn't really make him any more relevant.![]()
Still makes Mother (and, by association, Ness) more relevant than Metroid/Samus.

Only in certain and somewhat arbitrary ways. I'd still say Samus was far more relevant all around though. She was the star of three games that all sold better than Ness's one.
Nope! Earthbound was released a bit after Super Metroid.Wait, doesn't Ness still beat her out?
Nobody knew about Prime or Fusion back then though. If you're going strictly by who had the most recently released game, then Samus is "less relevant" than Ness. But Ness was also only in one game versus Samus's three, and that Earthbound sold a fair bit less than Super Metroid, so yeah, I'd say Ness was far less relevant. Plus, Earthbound didn't really develop its fervent fanbase until years later.
And like I said, the Mother series had no presence in Europe therefore Metroid was technically more universally relevant. Not in Japan. Metroid has always been a niche title over there, while the Mother franchise was pretty successful.
I'd say that Shiek's is the best. Not only is it very low to the ground, but her down tilt and down smash are both very good, and she's also heavier so she can crouch cancel at higher percents. Is Kirby's crouch the best?

I know it's funny as hell, but didn't those 4 things end up being the main villains of that mode?Starfy fans were cool. Honestly, most fans going for unrepresented franchises were cool.
I just lurked back then.
EDIT: I forgot the best part of pre-Brawl speculation, the clouds!

Okay. The divide between Super Metroid and Earthbound wasn't that big in Japan though. Like .7m vs .8m. And the original Metroid sold quite a bit more. And outside of Japan there's no contest.
I'm not really sure how this is an argument. Much more sales and three times as many appearances isn't really topped by a game trapped in development hell that doesn't even feature the character and like a 5 month difference in releases.
Besides, which of the two was 1) one of the original four from the prototype build 2) was featured prominently on the packaging, all promotional material, and the opening sequence and 3) was part of the core roster? Because it's not Ness.
Methinks Sakurai agrees.

The thing most people in the AW need to accept now before their hearts are broken is that Andy is the most likely rep...or a tiny Army dude. Sami is waaay down the list sadly.
Yeah, the clouds were right. WHO'S LAUGHING NOW?
As annoying as it is people often ignore Europe in these discussions unless it's about Europe getting something that America didn't.And like I said, the Mother series had no presence in Europe therefore Metroid was technically more universally relevant.

Captain Toad dreaming about joining Smash Bros.
There's still a chance...Peach has custom moves too, doesn't she?
Captain Toad can't jump so he'd be shit tier anyway.
But Little Mac!
Toad is not Captain Toad debate is go in 3...2...1...

The inability to jump s his trademark ability though. But Little Mac!
is "Toad" even the same person all the time
I say no

Pic of the day. The Mii Gunner's side smash attack may have the farthest reach of all the side smashes as should be expected from a firearms expert!! Looks like the attack missed this time, though.
Peach has an army of Toads to do her bidding. When one dies it is easily replaced.
WONDER REDHmm so:
Mii Gunner = Megaman + Samus
Mii Fighter = Little Mac + ???
Mii Swordfighter = Marth + Link
Sounds good to me. I still think my Mii will be a Swordfighter most of the time.

I don't like it when people shoot down character suggestions, but I find it hilarious you would dismiss K. Rool so to speak, and suggest a minor character like Wart in the same breath.Still don't get all the love for K. Rool and wanting him to be in Smash. I'm not actively hoping he doesn't get in - I'm always happy when fans of a character get what they want - but damn, I just don't see how he's interesting beyond nostalgia. I'd rather have Wart, personally, but then again I guess he's interesting for the same reason.
Oh well, different strokes!
afaik he's like the Yoshi's. So any Toad may decide to leave Peaches Castle to be an adventurer/captain.
Oh yeah. It's you, Bkupa666; one of moderators at SmashBoard.

Captain Toad seems to be ignored by most of Mario's own spin offs... Has he even appeared in any? Maybe getting his own game will change that though.
we share a birthday friend lol, happy birthday, and prepare for fucking nothing!
Time for an action shot of Luigi stretching his nose.
And happy birthday to both of ya!
