I'm sure they could make it Miiverse only or something, connect your vote to your profile. One vote per system so the voting process couldn't get mucked up. No random fan selections
like Shrek or Batman or Bat Shrek
but actual viable characters like ones that got cut or are already in the game as assist trophies. Could even have accepted 3rd party characters on there maybe.

Could be huge for Smash to keep the speculation and talk going.

Only if the votes that count are votes that are spelled correctly. Misspell the character, and there will be serious consanquenses
 
Speaking of King K. Rool... If he was in the game, do you think he'd have his tail (original Rare design) or no tail (post-Rare design)? I personally would hope that he'd have his tail.

Still don't get all the love for K. Rool and wanting him to be in Smash. I'm not actively hoping he doesn't get in - I'm always happy when fans of a character get what they want - but damn, I just don't see how he's interesting beyond nostalgia. I'd rather have Wart, personally, but then again I guess he's interesting for the same reason.

Oh well, different strokes!

I'm still really weirded out Wart never got brought back for stuff like the kart or sport games while Birdo did.

I just want Wart in anything new. Would've been a way cooler choice in MK8 than any of the 5 babies.

EDIT: Good point DICKS AHOY, I never thought about the Birdo connection. Though, she only started showing up in stuff after they chose her for a Double Dash partner for Yoshi, right?

donkey kong franchise needs/deserves a villain

k rool is the villain

he has potential for an interesting moveset, too

I'm not seeing the problem with this. The game's an interactive game museum, and while it's obvious certain cult picks like Skull Kid/Geno/K. Rool/Ashley/etc. are likely never going to be playable since Smash goes off more than fan popularity, it's still cool when they at least get a physical cameo.

Pic of the day. The Mii Gunner's side smash attack may have the farthest reach of all the side smashes…as should be expected from a firearms expert!! Looks like the attack missed this time, though.

Well I think a lot of it has to do with the fact Sakurai and the smash team put such care into characters that have been completely neglected by their own parent companies, people really want to see those characters they loved years and years ago at least be present and relevant in some fashion once again (i.e. - see Sonic, Pit, Mega Man, PAC-MAN)

He's the main antagonist of the Donkey Kong franchise, and one of the more prominent Nintendo villains in general. That's the main reason why people want him in the game. Not necessarily because of his character or design or anything like that, but because of his role.

Perhaps! Though MrWizard said there are multiple surprises at Evo, and Nintendo is a sponsor for the event. I have a shadowed hope that we'll get something.

Wasn't passing judgement, just reacting to some of the people disclaiming utter confusion about people's desire to have certain characters included.

My only issue is when people put their nostalgic preference(s) as the end all "perfect roster choice" and write off more modern characters as somehow bad choices.
 
After watching half this Kings of Cali tournie I'm really seeing that you need to have Battlefield versions of every stage as well as FD because the platforms are so integral
