Universal Studios OrlandoGAF - Diagon Alley Grand Opening

Even though Diagon Alley has been accessible for some time, today's being called the Grand Opening to commemorate the opening of the Gringots Bank ride. In line right now, which started in the Simpson Land, and people around me are worried the line will be 5 hours long. Anyone here doing Diagon Alley today?

How's the weather there? I am coming over from Ireland tomorrow :p. Can't wait to go to universal.

Pretty nice overall. Mostly sunny. There've been scattered showers and storms over the five days I've been in Orlando but that's typical around here.

I give you credit for standing in that line. I prefer to stay at a Universal hotel and get the early access.

I visited not long after the original HP area opened and omg, the crowds were just insane. The line just to get in the store was over an hour long and there were kids walking around with hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise on.

The whole things was really well done though, I'd like to go back again and check out the new areas.

Think I'll head right over, just a 5 hour wait this morning!

Just saw you mentioned people worried about a 5 hour wait. Thats exactly what the Orlando Sentinel is reporting!

So I plan on going sometime next year. Anyone know if the express pass thing they do works for the bank ride or is it like the other big Harry potter ride and it's excluded?

The express pass was honestly the best decision I made and made the trip so much more enjoyable but it was a bummer the one ride me and my GF really wanted to go on was excluded.

I heard the new ride is amazing.

I believe there was a soft opening last week, but today's the official opening. Hope your wait isn't too bad, I don't think it's generally a good idea to go right when these things open, I remember when Wizarding World first opened and the lines were even worse than that. Good luck today.

Hoping to take my wife there in a few weeks, we live pretty close.

My brother is coming to town next week and while he's here we are gonna go. He's a big HP fan but he hasn't gone to the park since all the HP stuff was added a few years ago. Should be fun!

Good luck gaffer. I am not looking forward to going there to work today. I've seen everything besides the gringotts ride and it's amazing.

So it's like a 2 hour line just it get into Diagon Alley, then it's gonna be another 3 hours to get on the bank ride. I guess that's where the 5 hour rumor came from. I'm like 20 min from Diagon Alley.

Diagonally. That's clever!

It was only when I was listening to a podcast about Diagon Alley the other week that I noticed the pun in the name Knockturn Alley, where all the stuff related to the dark arts is found.

Been in line for the bank ride for a while but we ain't moving. It's been delayed or something and they've been trying to resolve the problem for the past 45 min.

I'd try it just to get from one park to the other but with that wait time, I'd just foot it.

Good for them though, the park needed something like that for a while now.
That's a rollercoaster/3d ride. The hogwarts express takes people between parks.

I whinny my fervor lowly, for his length is not as great as those of the Hylian war stallions
I'll be expecting impressions of the new ride within 48 hours, if you are still in line at that time, please call for help.

Never saw/read The Chamber of Secrets? There was a funny scene where Harry says it that way accidentally.

O_O

Hope everyone thought to bring camping gear :/

If I had a disability/illness, I would definitely use my make a wish privileges on that ride. Holy shit 375 minutes to ride a themed rollercoaster? Aint nobody got time for that!

The park closes at 10pm

So yeah they're going to start turning away people soon. At schlitterbahn they'll allow people to get in line for rides up until the park closes, so I'de always get in line for the Master blaster a minute before closing ( 2 hour wait ). Most theme parks don't do this though, because they want their employees to go home on time.

You can do that on normal rides which can have 1-2 hours wait times, harry potter might be an exception today though.
