DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

Finally, the sequel to PGR 4 we were looking for.

sweet lord.

This will be the generations PGR4.

These graphics will be timeless and still look great when we look back at GIFs in generations to come.

Back then PGR 4 achieved this photo-realistic rainy weather look in 2007... it did so very well with off-cam footage, (albeit most of the time the direct-feed footage did a GREAT job at it too)

Direct-Feed Example 1

with this Drive-Club footage being direct-feed footage of the pre-Gold code of this game, I find it quite promising and it does indeed give off massive PGR4 vibes. Makes me wish devs would make PC Ports of these kinda beautiful console games.

Good to see all these Sony 1st Party Studios pushing the PS4 this early on. Puts more pressure on MS and third parties as well.

I respect your opinion and I'm doing this purely for comparison reasons, not to troll or bash FH2 (i have it pre-ordered) -

FH2 looks great, and I'm sure it will be fun as hell....but DC is just on another level for me.

Ok Driveclub looked so good i almost forgot about how damn good Forza Horizon 2 is looking also, i think DC's realistic art style gives it the edge though, shit is just freakishly real looking, though my money is on FH2 being the better game.

Good Lord this looks amazing. Visually Forza Horizon 2 left me flat with it's crude foliage. This is more along the lines of what I expect visually from a new gen racing game.

Horizon 2 seems cartoonish

I always try to imagine how extra crazy Driveclub would look to people who hadn't played some of the previous "kings" of arcade-styled racing games (visually or otherwise) if they didn't have the necessary system. Lucky devils.

Man, PGR4 still looks incredible for a 2007 title. Bizarre were technical gods. There's literally no other way to explain what they managed to achieve all those years ago.

Cut down too soon by those dicks at MS and Acti though. DAMN YOU ALL.

Anyway, it's pretty clear where the majority of the weather team from Bizarre ended up....

Let's not derail the thread with FH2 comparisons, guys. There is a dedicated comparison thread if you are really inclined to do this

I agree 100% with this. DriveClub needs that photo mode so I can have nice desktop backgrounds for my PC

It's happening as post launch free DLC. Not sure if it's along with weather or a separate release.

It'll be double the framerate too but who knows. PD are wizard's..well they used to be.

They still are. It's not really their fault that the PS3 turned out the way it did. Kaz even mentioned in one interview that they couldn't even do the heat haze effect on the PS3 due to its limitations. And that's something that they demoed on the PS2 back when they were showing of GT2000. They also had to end up scaling back their fantastic looking smoke effects because of how poorly the PS3 handles alpha effects.

I feel like almost a decade's worth of games with performance quirks doesn't suggest "they still are." The PS3 could very well be what caused the problem, but other games have run at 60 fps. Visually they did more with that system than anyone else, but it's annoying when any simulation has inconsistency with how it plays. Their priorities were in a different place.

Rushy, if you read this. I have one very important question. Will there be a Lexus LF-A in the game?

Please say yes.
