DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

Man, weather is going to play a big part during races. It's going to be intense trying to overtake someone while it's snowing like crazy.

My jaw just hit the floor. WOW. The only thing that gave it away from this being real life was the power cables. :p

Rushy if you're reading this thread can you comment about the jaggies in the powerlines and if they will be fixed by launch.

pls, respond

He already did.

Hopefully, this will materialize somehow.

I want this so bad.

That's very, very impressive, and I just might have to give it a chance after having previously disregarded it for being "arcadey" and running at 30fps.

DRIVECLUB |OT| Dynamic weather blurring the Horizon

You do know that Horizon 2 has dynamic weather too right?

And I've never really been a fan of subtitles for OTs that antagonise others. It invites arguments and pages of garbage, something I hope the OT for this and Horizon 2 can avoid.

Racing game visuals are used here as a form of console war ammunition.

Most of the people beating Forza Horizon 2 over the head with Driveclub, or Driveclub with Forza Horizon 2 - don't play racing games, or if they do, not to any great level, depth or ability. They complain about features that are not part of the core driving experience, get excited about things that aren't a big deal and generally make a lot of noise without contributing to discussions of the genre.

The bitching and silliness surrounding the launch of Forza 5 - the misinformation and complete misunderstanding really showed how little such games are actually played here by many of the most vocal racing game console warriors.

Within the Forza 5 OT and OTs for other racing games post launch it was clear that most of the fighting done surrounding the game was not by people actually playing it. The OT for Forza 5 is happily a calm refuge from the nonsense that appears on the forum from those that don't play the game.

The console racing game fans I know - the ones that actually play and love the games - are excited about FH2 and DC. The lucky ones will be able to play both.

But right now that won't stop folks treating DC like the second coming - yet when they pick up the game they'll be wall riding, assist using, driving line following noobs that will soon give up on it and quickly move onto their next messiah of gaming and source of forum nonsense.

Umm WHAT? This thread was going perfectly fine with people just praising what they see to be a great looking game until a few clowns came and brought up another racing game? No one was talking about anything but how good these visuals (and rightly so) look until that happened so I don't know what you are talking about Forza this and Forza that.

I feel like almost a decade's worth of games with performance quirks doesn't suggest "they still are." The PS3 could very well be what caused the problem, but other games have run at 60 fps. Visually they did more with that system than anyone else, but it's annoying when any simulation has inconsistency with how it plays. Their priorities were in a different place.

I just don't really blame them for it because so much of what they wanted to do was limited by the console. Their dynamic weather system was crippled by the PS3's inability to handle alpha effects. I think the plus side is that they actually have all that built now. They built their dynamic weather and time of day systems last generation. So that's already out of the way for them. So I think we're going to see all of that payoff for them when they finally show GT7.

No, I didn't know! I seriously thought it wasn't dynamic at all. Although I do get your point, I don't see much of a problem with these kind of subtitles.

I'm sure many developers are limited by the console, but that's not an excuse to produce a less than par product. If the console can't handle those effects then work around it or scrap them all together, gamer performance should always take priority and I'm not sure why PD forgot this.

Any word on if this will have a free camera photo mode? With these weather effects...the shots would be incredible.

That absolutely blew me away. It looks incredible. What's the deal with dynamic weather exactly in this game? It is to be patched at later date right?

It looks borderline photorealistic in that clip. You think the game looks great, and then somehow weeks down the line it looks even better. Repeat cycle. To think, come release date, its graphical prowess will still surpass what we're seeing today.

Best looking racer around, bar none.
