Giant Bomb #8 | It's a Hit!

Yeah it's not like the best RPG in years wasn't just released or anything...

they talked about it! But is clearly a genre none of them know well in the slightest. They kept thinking it was a diablo type game...and Brad didn't seem to get far enough to get into the intricacies of the combat.

So yeah, i'm not surprised they didn't spend more than 5 minutes talking about Divinity, even though it is very good.

-A silhouetted flashback scene of a main character's adoptive mother being shot to protect her child = bad guy pointing at her with his finger and saying "I'M SENDING YOU TO A DUNGEON" (where apparently she either died in solitude or was completely forgotten, I guess)

Fantastic

Then please give us the BombCast. Free us from this Anime discussion. I think people are having serious conversations about it.

Beyond just ended where da Bombcast ;-;

People have speculated for years about what would have happened if 4kids had held onto the license long enough to reach the later story arcs where the stuff they deleted or skipped would have ended up becoming vitally important.

Also, the attempts at removing violence were hilariously hamfisted and at times completely backfired by coming off as even worse than just death:

-A hostage grabbing a weapon and threatening to commit suicide to ruin her captors' plan is sanitized as her grabbing a weapon and apparently it's got magical powers that she can't control so it's just coincidentally getting near her throat

-A main character's backstory and motivation involving a promise to a childhood friend who died in a sudden freak accident = "she got beat up by bullies so bad that she can't train with swords anymore"

-A silhouetted flashback scene of a main character's adoptive mother being shot to protect her child = bad guy pointing at her with his finger and saying "I'M SENDING YOU TO A DUNGEON" (where apparently she either died in solitude or was completely forgotten, I guess)
Holy Christ those are terrible.

I'm having fun thinking of what the end result of this same quality censoring applied to, say, Game of Thrones or Spartacus: Blood and Sand would be.

Please stop! I thought it was bad when someone stuff in certain scenes were altered, but wholesale arc changes are extreme. at least stuff got redubbed (I think), and is viewable in English Uncut (I think) thanks to Funimation (I think). Which means the 4Kids stuff can be forgotton about.

I might try to get into the show at some point - even if it is a huge time sink to get involved in. A few episodes cannot hurt!

well its like the whole day and actually the best teams in the world instead of the four that couldn't even qualify outright

itll be so much more fun

Ah, I was just going by the timer in the International thread. Anyway, cool cool. One thing I definitely need to read up on is some of the jargon, makes no sense to be going "wha-?" at the commentary every thirty seconds.

“Bot Colony makes unscripted conversation with the characters a pillar of gameplay. We've developed advanced Natural Language Understanding technology to bring you this new experience. In a nutshell, it means our in-game characters understand what you say – whether you speak it or type it. Merged with a classic adventure game design filled with twists and turns, Bot Colony’s innovative interaction has the potential to revolutionize PC games. This integration is novel, and obviously needs to be refined based on community feedback.”

New endurance run, no longer shall Jeff's tyranny hold small buisnessman down.

Get Hype.

I'm not sure how new people could get into it these days. I started in my teens back in 99 or 2000 and while it's gotten to be one of my favorite series, the first few arcs are just hard to watch nowadays. If you really want to get into it, I suggest finding a guide and skipping filler. You'd probably also save money spending some money on hulu and streaming a lot of it.

Dreamin', don't give it up Jeff
Dreamin', don't give it up Brad
Dreamin', don't give it up Vinny
Dreamin', don't give it up Patrick

Fans have edited it down to something called "One Paced". No idea how watchable it is though... I know it was way too slow for me anyway.

Good shit. It's definitely worth jumping into.

I remember watching the first 20 or so episodes back in Summer 2006... fast forward two weeks, and I was caught up on 280+ episodes. That shit hooked me like no other show had ever hooked me before (until Breaking Bad came around).

One Piece is fantastic, especially for an anime.

long night looks trashy as fuck in a way that i really enjoy. for $5 i might pick it up despite the fact it's probably not going to complete it's episodic structure or whatever.

Is that being shipped to Jeff??

No me... :/

Thanks. Hulu is not an option for me though (live in Ireland). I have proxy set up, (use it for WWE Network, Netflix and a few other things), but Hulu will not let me in regardless of what I do (angry and credit cards, Location and everything) I cannot see the show on Netflix, which was my first point of call.

I am more intrigued by the show than anything else. If I find myself enjoying it, I will happily to spend a bit of money on the DVDs every few months. I dont think I will watch it quite as quick as you did though (otherwise I'd be poor :/)

one piece experts

can you eat more than one of the magic super fruit or whatever
No. According to an Oda Q&A, you would explode.

Blackbeard seems to be able to absorb powers, though, so who knows if it's a hard and steadfast rule.

Also when someone with a fruit power dies, the fruit reappears in the world and someone else can eat it.

how many magic fruits are there or is it a mystery

is the goal of most pirates to find them

do people sell them if they get a second or give it to friends or what
