PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

So VitaGAF, what are your thoughts on Shinobido 2? From what I've gathered from reviews, it seems like enough of a diamond in the rough to be worth taking a chance on when it's as cheap as it currently is in the EU Japan sale. But I am curious to hear your thoughts.

I have the game and spent like so many many hours in it. Ill be simple in answering this. If you love Tenchu , just buy it , is a little repetetitive , graphics are not the best on Vita, story sucks, but gameplay wise it is the last real Tenchu made by acquire. Is interesting the depth it has with some systems , like the creation of items , the masters you have and the missions you can accomplish with them etc. There is some secrets and surprises too.

Conclusion- if you are graphic-dependant or like extremely well done stories and that is determinant for you to buy or not buy the game , do not buy it. IF you are not like that try the demo , then buy it. It is a really fun game to play despite the flaws.

Buy and Play:

Hidden Gems: Unit 13, Shinobido 2
Vita Classics and Exclusivities: Gravity Rush, Tearaway, Killzone Mercenary
Nobody cares but they are good games also : Katamary , New Little King Story

After having my 16 gig vita card full for a few months, I finally went ahead and imported a 64 gig. I'm in the process of transferring everything over and I'm trying to figure what to do with all this space.

(Yes crash/spyro works still!)

Anyway, I've been putting off starting new games because of the full memory card, but now I have some decisions to make. I have quite a few playstation plus games saved up, as well as some RPGs I haven't started due to getting a little burnt out after my double FFX/X-2 plat run.

If these are the options (games I own/are interested in), what do you think should take priority?

P3P (I've started this, maybe 1/4 of the way done)
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 9
Chrono Cross
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Gravity Rush
Vagrant Story
Tactics Ogre
Thomas Was Alone

Man, if P4G was endless, I don't think I'd ever stop playing. I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet. Luckily it's not over yet. I'm currently doing
Marie's dungeon
and it's kinda interesting in how it works.

Does P4A spoil P3?

Glad all of your games transfered over :D! Spyro and Crash on the go is quite awesome :).

As for what game you should try to beat first....I would recommend Persona 3 Portable. Not only is it a really great game, it is also progresses very quickly (being able to press square to insta-warp between locations and the fact the combat system is lifted from Persona 4 make the game feel quick and snappy :D).

I would also suggest Uncharted and Thomas is Alone too; both aren't that long (the former took me about....I think 10-14 hours while the latter doesn't seem that long) and are enjoyable games to boot :).

The Final Fantasy's might also be a great game to tackle next if you are still wanting to play some great RPG's and Strangers Wrath might also be worth trying to beat too (the game is about...I think 10-15 hours long? Not sure though :l).

Hope this helps :).

That dungeon was my favorite of the game (maybe next to
Adatchi's
and the Retro Style one) just from how it mixed things up; making you and your team constantly loosing SP and all of your powerful gear made the dungeon very interesting to explore (might be the most fun in the game, ironic considering it is brand new content not from the original version of P4).

As for P4A, it does have some major spoilers from P3, but I suppose by this point, it is almost expected to have some kind of idea about what happened to the P3 cast after the events of both the Journey and Answer sections of P3 (You could ether give the PSP version a shot if you want something close to P4 gameplay/design wise or give P3:FES a shot if you don't mind dealing with the games more annoying qualities).

You could also watch the P3 story on YouTube but that might miss out on some of the different ways the cut-scenes play out via multiple choices the MC has.

A good way into the last chapter of Trails in the Sky now. Loving it and I'm sad it will probably be ending soon.

Thinking of picking up Ys Seven to play next, I've never played the Ys series. Is this an okay place to start? MoC is still too pricey for me to jump on at the moment.

I would honestly start with Felghana on Vita, it's the superior game. But Ys Seven is a still a good game, I enjoyed it loads, but to get into the series I always say start with the best.

this might be a dumb question but would people buy games at retail versus getting them digitally? let's say hyper light drifter is $14.99 on psn, but $24.99 for an extremely limited one-time physical release (let's say, between 5,000 and 10,000 units). would anyone be interested?

For whatever reason this isn't actually on the Australian PSN, despite being on the European one :/ All we have is MoC and Seven.

thanks zero and thanks RalchAC for the various contributions

hmm I guess I really shouldn't waste slots having both boost and amp together :/
- so Kanji should keep Vile Assault for now

for Angelic Grace and Ali Dance, they only work if my MC equips that persona right? doesn't apply if it's just in the list of personas I bring along? I suppose that's for Victory Cry as well?

and I guess skills like Invigorate, Growth are useless in the end-game region?
That is correct. I have multiple personas that have Ali Dance since it can't be learned with a card. Get triple evade on your party member's weakness and you'll notice them dodging a lot more. I learn other skills over Growth 3 once that persona gets better skills.

Invigorate 3 is ok for those early bosses, but Cool Breeze and Victory Cry replaces it late game. I phased out Growth 3 once I learn other skills I want to inherit.

thanks. I don't know if I'm over levelled at this point.. I'm trying to save
Naoto
and I'm already like Level 75++ for all my characters... yea I level them out evenly

Did anyone play Jazz: Trump's Journey? Is it touch-only?

No, You play it with buttons like a classic platformer. Touch screen has little to none use in this game (well, at least at the beginning, I only did the first 2 levels). Fun game, bonus levels are haaaaaaaaard.

If only patapon 4 existed

Where's Charibasa? We neeed Charibasa.

And I'm now hoping that they mess up something and have to apologise giving lots of destiny orbs~

Yes it does.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll play P3 first. I kind of want to play FES first and then a P3P with the FeMC later but I think the main reason I enjoy P4G so much is the portability. I still have some time to decide, have to finish P4G first.

I disagree. I think SCEE and SCEA treating the platform like it doesn't exist really hurts SCEJ's ability to get larger third party titles. At this stage in the platform's life, I think it's pretty clear Vita has the skeevy anime and non-Monster Hunter co-operative action game crowds on lock. It's time to expand the audience with other titles. But who's going to want to invest in not sure things on the platform when their sales potential is basically capped to a small base in Japan?

Sony didn't try too much to get big games when Vita was somewhat important, what makes you think that without that declaration and policy things would have been different?
We are in the hands of third parties' will almost from the beginning and despite everything Vita is still here getting games.

I've got exactly 6,815mb left on my memory card at the moment, and I'm thinking about picking up Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD. I see that the games are 6.7gb all together, and I think I read that it's 3.4gb and 3.3gb, respectively.

My question is, would I have enough space to download both? Does the Vita need double the space (like the PS3), to download and then install? Is it exactly 6.7gb, or slightly more or less? I'd love to have a buffer of about 100-150mb free, just in case...

tri-ace, why you so subnative

Looks ugly. Hopefully there are a tons of effects and stuff going on in order to justify it. How does PSO2 looks in comparision?

I'd say keep Uncharted GA, Gravity Rush and P3P as your absolute priorities. P3P is a JRPG but is worth it. The other two games aren't JRPGs and they could help you to "rest".

Man, if P4G was endless, I don't think I'd ever stop playing. I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet. Luckily it's not over yet. I'm currently doing

The new mechanics behind the Marie dungeon are really interesting. I'd like if they took the idea and made a "hard mode" with specific conditions like those in Persona 5. It'd be better that just adding a new boss and calling it a day like in P4 IMO

Minecraft needs to come now. The lack of a bundle announcement is incredibly worrying.

They should bring the brown Vita 2000 and slap a clipper or however they're called on the back of the system. Kids love those things.

for those of you who play your Vita at home, how do you play?

(a) on your bed
(b) at your computer table
(c) on the sofa
(d) the porcelain throne

What's the cheapest way without adding my credit card info to PSN to get PS+ going for a little while? Amazon seems to not have any 3-month codes available, and it has to be digital, I don't have time to get a code shipped here.

You don't need double the space on Vita, thankfully. And both games are 3422MB (including one save file) + 3435MB, so I guess only one will fit.

And (a): bed. I always play in my bed.

I only purchased my Vita last weekend, so so far I am an A and C kinda guy. That might change though.

I have a few questions that have probably been asked a lot before, so apologies if you have answered them repeatedly. I am tempted by the Persona 2 and 3 double pack on sale on PSN...should I bite?
I am pretty new to PS Vita and PSP games, having been a Nintendo and X-Box owner previously. I am not a massive JRPG fan (yet) to be honest, I am more interested in the Secret of Mana / Zelda / action RPG type games, but I am enjoying Persona 4. On that note what are the best action RPG type games or indeed JRPG games that I should get stuck in to? The Ragnarok Odyssey ACE, Toukiden, Soul Sacrifice, Monster Hunter, FF games, God of War games are all on my list, what other ones should I explore?

I can't believe there is so many people that don't bring their Vitas to the throne.

I imagine a lot of people do, but just don't want to admit it...

A, B, C, and E-everywhere I can comfortably play.

Why would I want to bring my precious Miku Vita anywhere near a fecal matter. WHY.
