HOW THE FUCK IS DOWNTON ABBEY STILL GETTING NOMINATED?

HOLY CHRIST.
I'm still a fan yet can't defend this. I can understand individual acting nominations and technical nominations like set design.,,but the show doesn't deserve outstanding drama by any stretch of the imagination.

Personally I thought Homeland was great this season. Breaking Bad will win everything though.

The word miniseries has lost all meaning. Why are Treme and Luther miniseries now?

And yes, True Detective deserves it all. The gap in quality between it and everything else is massive.

They were miniseries though. 3-5 episodes. You can title something a "season" but math never lies.

I feel a lot worse for whatever drama got knocked out of the category because HBO pulled a dick move by nominating True Detective in a different category than the other two anthology series.

I'm not deluded enough to think that was Hannibal. Because they'd have just stuck other things in there instead.

Let's be clear on how ridiculous it is that Hannibal doesn't get one single nomination.

No best direction nomination. No best production design nomination. No best art direction nomination. No best prosthetic makeup nomination. No best sound design nomination.

Hannibal is one of the most technically adept TV shows airing right now, and they don't get one nomination in *any* of the technical categories two years in a row?

Fuck the Emmys.

Yup.

I really don't think mad men deserves to be nominated, although I don't watch enough tv to say who should be above it. I'm a huge fan of the show, but until maybe the last two episodes of the first half of the final season, it's been shit for quite a while.

Downton Abbey noms aren't for Season 4, are they? Because if so ... what. And House of Cards still getting nominated for Outstanding Drama is a bit odd, too. And no Tatiana Moslany?? I remember sometimes having a split second confusion whenever the opening titles went from Tatiana to that other guy who can't act, and being like "Whoa, what about the actress for Cosima?? Or -- omg wait right." It's amazing what she does on the show.

But so glad they replaced Emilia Clarke for Lena Headey for Supporting Actress. So glad.

edit: j Tatiana's trending on twitter.

If True Detective or House of Cards win anything other than acting awards, it'll be an outrage. I laughed when I saw House of Cards had a writing nomination. So bad.

House of Cards had a really poor second season, it has no business being nominated

Nothing wrong with True Detective winning any award. To say it would be an outrage is ridiculous

BBT? Sure. But Modern Family is amazing.

Modern Family is great at producing a steady stream of episodes around the "alright" level of quality and occasionally, a few episodes a season, getting up to a level of quality that would make it Emmy worthy. But it always goes right back down to it's decent but repetitive "Cam and Mitchell are fighting about something, Phil does something embarrassing, Gloria yells some things, but then they all realize they love each other" structure. They are many, many more deserving shows.

Oh come on...

Really? The last full season was boring and kind of ridiculous. It was just making Don do weird shit left and right trying to regress his character. The finale was good, and the end of this season's first half was good too, but as a whole it's not what it once was.

So next year I expect to see 24: Live Another Day and Last Week Tonight on here.

With Mary Lynn Rajskub getting a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress

The categories are so confusing now. I really don't know the difference between a mini-series and a series. Treme is a mini even though it's ran for 4 seasons with the same cast. What the difference between True Detective and American Horror Story or Downton Abbey and Luther.

That's what I just asked myself...

...Lena Headey? For which episode?

Make up nomination? She was the best female this season besides maybe Sansa's scene after Lysa's death.

vvvvv - Ugh, Newsroom is another one of those shows with a fantastic lead, but a pretty bad story. The show is to idealistic to the point where it is completely unbelievable. I just watch it because I like angry Jeff Daniels.

Cheering for True Detective and Newsroom. Breaking Bad will likely sweep but I hope it doesn't, loved the show but the ending was kinda meh.

List reminded me to watch Coven and Fargo.

Lena Headey? Really?
Is this "Best Actress to Have the Same Look On Her Face for Four Seasons?"

Emilia Clarke is also horribly guilty of this.

What makes an actress lead vs supporting? I guess I'm silly for thinking Gunn and Tolman were leads.

It's completely arbitrary. Whatever the show producers/actor/network want to nominate them as.

Tolman as a supporting actress is indeed puzzling. Gunn won the Supporting category last year, so it makes sense that they'd nominate her in that category again this year.

The people choose which category to submit themselves in. The only clear lead in BB is Cranston and Fargo was more of an ensemble show, so I can see how both these decisions might make sense.

I know it's an opinion, so it technically can't be wrong, but still…your opinion is wrong.

A shame The Good Wife wasn't nominated for best drama since it had its best season in years but I'm glad all three "main" actors got a spot in the categories.

I wasn't expecting Dylan Barker to get a nom but that's cool since I like his character a lot.

Not ONE nomination for Hannibal. Holy. Moly.

I'm convinced now that the judges plain never watched the show or that hopefully Hannibal was extremely close in many categories.

Treme is a miniseries this for this season only. The Emmys have a certain minimum required number of episodes to be considered a Tv series and Treme's 5 episode season fell below that, thus it becomes a miniseries for Emmy purposes.

Sometimes a network or show place actors in the 'supporting' category on the likelihood they have a better chance of being nominated and winning that category.

The best drama actor category is LOADED this year with Cranston, Hamm, Harrelson and Spacey, but it's gotta go to Matt McConaughey. That was an Oscar level performance. True Detective also deserves Best Drama, even if the fanboy in me wants to see Game of Thrones win everything it's been nominated for.

Well, a ton of people vote for the nominations, which is why bigger shows tend to get nominated/win more. They also tend to stay away from cult shows like Hannibal or Community. And they aren't required to watch everything up for nomination. My guess is that Hannibal will be ignored every year.

I forgot breaking bad got staggered in award season

Im honestly ready to move on from it but I wont be surprised when they let it sweep each category just because

Damn, what a yeah for TV.

True Detective was superb. I feel like it'll be trading awards with Breaking Bad, Cranston and McConaughey were godtier in their roles. Can't really decide on which one I want to win more, it is BB last season, and the only time this True Detective cast will be up for nominations. Fuuuuuuuuccccckkkkkk.

I really need to start Hannibal already, fuck my ADD.
