I'm trying to remember: Is this for OITNB's first or second season?

Both seasons are exceptional, but I'm just trying to recall which this is for.

It's for the first season. I enjoyed the first one way more than the second personally, I think shifting the focus away from Piper and to the other characters took away a lot of the gravitas the series originally had.

I mean it's not as bad as Walking Dead or anything. But practically every character is just aggravating beyond toleration. And although many of them were written to be stupid, the subpar writing itself causes irritation as a byproduct rather than the desired effect.

Subpar writing?

OITNB is a master's class in character development. It is absolutely brilliant at developing its characters - even the secondary ones - as well-rounded, believable people.

Usually this is the time of year where I get angry about the snubbing of TV's finest series: Justified.

The inconsistent season 5 though, not surprised. A rare misstep.

What season of Hannibal would have been the focus of the Emmy's? Sorry, I don't fully understand what seasons are primarily referenced each year (the latest one or the one before that or does it not matter at all)? Season 1 I could understand, season 2 is single-handedly superior to most of those shows being nominated.

Either way, Hannibal being snubbed is absurd at this point.

Season 2 but they don't submit season, they submit episodes in a certain time frame (afaik). Same for actors, you submit an episode where you think you did the best.

The categories are so confusing now. I really don't know the difference between a mini-series and a series. Treme is a mini even though it's ran for 4 seasons with the same cast. What the difference between True Detective and American Horror Story or Downton Abbey and Luther.

I felt like they were beating me over the head with "See?! See how they're changing?! They're all so ZANY and UNIQUE!" while I'm sitting here under the brunt of their attack, pitifully covering my head and pleading for it to stop.

Just my opinion though and I'll leave it at that.

Sorry but Orange is the New Black is one of the worst shows I've ever seen. Unbearable.

House of Cards shouldn't be there but whatever, it's fine for a junk food show.
Really. One of the worst. Are Sopranos and the Wire the only shows you've ever seen?

Yeah, Dean Norris should've at least been nominated for that final season.

It's worth repeating: The Best Drama lineup is exceptionally bad this year.

BB and Mad Men are so far above everything else in that category, and there a multitude of much better shows that should have gone in place of Game of Thrones, True Detective, House of Cards, and Downton Fucking Abbey.

Well I don't go out of my way to watch bad shows I suppose. For reference OITNB is better than post-S2 Dexter, The Walking Dead, post-s4 Office, post-s3 Glee.

You guys don't like Downton?

I think the season three finale is what did me in, because I thought it was terrible, and from there the characters just lost me. I was especially mixed on the rape plot in season four. That appeal and fascination that was there when the show was a 'phenomenon' in its first two seasons is just no longer there for me.

I would, if I had unlimited power, remove Breaking Bad and Downton Abbey and replace them with Hannibal and The Good Wife.

Otherwise the Best Drama list is very nicely fleshed out.

House of Cards should not be here, the second season was trash. Other than that, eh, predictable. I guess I'd add Hannibal in HoC's place though, but it's not going to win anyway.

I'm gonna be pulling for Dinklage and Lena.

Also, it's too bad Pedro Pascal didnt get a nom for Guest Actor.

Yeah, even though I think S4 of Game of Thrones was down quite a bit (but I'll admit to being biased due to my love of the books and my annoyance with the countless dumb changes they made this season), Lena Headey continues to do a great job and absolutely deserved her nomination.

The word miniseries has lost all meaning. Why are Treme and Luther miniseries now?

And yes, True Detective deserves it all. The gap in quality between it and everything else is massive.

I was prepared to riot if Lena didn't get her nom. Now that doesn't have to happen.

Charles Dance was snubbed again, though, as was Maise. But I'm confident she'll hers down the line.

Let's be clear on how ridiculous it is that Hannibal doesn't get one single nomination.

No best direction nomination. No best production design nomination. No best art direction nomination. No best prosthetic makeup nomination. No best sound design nomination.

Hannibal is one of the most technically adept TV shows airing right now, and they don't get one nomination in *any* of the technical categories two years in a row?

Fuck the Emmys.

Another yes to Dean Norris needing a nom for this year. He had far more interesting material to work with this season than Aaron Paul did and he hit it out of the park.

I feel bad for True Detective going against Breaking Bad's final season.

I feel a lot worse for whatever drama got knocked out of the category because HBO pulled a dick move by nominating True Detective in a different category than the other two anthology series.
