“Spring. Far from the city, time flows peacefully in this rural town. As the cherry blossoms scatter in the wind, a young man named Yu Narukami steps off the train at Yasoinaba Station. 3 years have passed since the anime series Persona4 was aired...
And now, they're coming back!

Based on a hugely popular RPG, Persona 4 became a sensation as soon as it started airing in 2011, drawing in not only gaming fans, but anime fans as well.
Released after the broadcast, the PlayStation Vita title, Persona 4 Golden, was a massive hit, with 350,000 copies sold, as if to flaunt Persona 4's seemingly unstoppable popularity.
And this summer, they're coming back with the usual gang, joined by a few new faces.

July 2014...at last, the "Golden" days will begin! Don't miss the start of this new story.

OH dammmmn. How did I not know they were coming out with another P4anime?!

How long is this one supposed to be? Hope they can actually cover more of the S.links this time, but then again that's alot of stuff -____-

Ok, I'll bite.

Even though the P4 anime was just okay. Don't jump on me for that. It just couldn't properly convey the games magnitude.

I recall seeing this anime is only 1 cour, eh, 12 episodes.

Experience the story again, for the first time!

Purportedly 12 episodes long, however the listing might have been in reference to something weird like a first season or whatever (most likely not, however).

Ah so it's just covering Marie plotline and dungeon?

EDIT: NVM, 12 episode show remake lol.

:((. They weren't able to cover much of the social links in the 25 episode run they had :(

I have a 4 3 Crunchyroll 48-hour all access guest passes if anyone is interested just PM me. First come first served.

You need a Crunchyroll membership if you want to watch early, without ads, and on anything other than a PC. So to use the Crunchyroll app on your controller you'll need an account or guest pass.

Yep, covering everything. Here's the preview trailer.

:((. They weren't able to cover much of the social links in the 25 episode run they had :(

Things might be rather different this time, though. They might be designing this show around the notion that people going into it already know what happens, accelerating certain events (even more than before), as a result.

Thank god for Crunchyroll. Can't wait to see how this adaption turns out!

Edit:

I have 3 CR guest passes, feel free to PM me if you're interested in one.

Despite being a huge fan of P4G, I've never watched the first anime.

I'm glad to hear that this one is going to include Marie, I mean, she's clearly best girl.

I'd be happy to share one of my Crunchyroll guest passes, too! Just PM me -- you get much better quality streams, no ads and you can watch on your TV through your console. The PS4 app works great. It's on the PS3 and 360, too.

Only twelve episodes? And the last series felt incredibly rushed at times! I...don't get why this exists or see it turning out very well...but It'll interesting to see how it turns out.

So are they only adding new frames/scenes to existing episodes or are they redoing everything from scratch ? If it's the latter, it seems kind of crazy.

2 new songs with Shihoko Hirata is all I care about. The previous anime gave us some fantastic songs, even better than the ones in the game.

It would be really cool of this series was sorta like a NG+, with Yu slyly knowing everything that was gonna happen, being completely OP and solving the mystery in less than half the time all while covering the social links he didn't get the first time. It'd be really cool if they did something meta like that, as they sorta flirted with the idea in the first series.

But, of course, it's gonna be nothing like that and I should just accept that and watch the dam anime
when they put out an English dub on blu ray

I'm pretty interested in seeing how they are going to cover a 100 hour game plus bonus content within 12 episodes.

That'd be neat.

I've just signed up for CrunchyRoll thanks to this. I'll be fine with waiting an extra week to get the episodes without paying but man, there's a treasure trove of stuff to watch here.

Yep, some have said that they'd like it if this anime's story was done that way and I'd like to see that more as well, instead of just seeing a straight reiteration of most of what we've seen before. Yu looks more confident right from the start when he's riding the train—when he wasn't like that before—so hey, maybe.

Is it actually going to be animated well this time?

More importantly, are the characters going to have that stupid gradient on their faces? It looks like they all have 5 o'clock shadow (heh) or they've been tanning in a really weird way.

Persona4_16_3.jpg

And will they delve into why we only see Chie's twin once?

2096618-wat.png

Yeah, the animators were sloppy.

P4 the Animation was great and it's a very good way to go through the story without playing the game again.
I wish my favorite JRPGs all had some kind of anime/CG adaptation that covers the full story. Especially FFVII: Advent Children (+ Complete) and Last Order were great.

There is completely and totally no reason for this to exist. I say this as a massive persona fan. This is just a remake of the anime that's only a couple years old with a couple characters but with the story rushed along super fast because they're fitting 26 episodes worth of content (and more) into 12 episodes.

Even though this'll be on while I'm at work, will be watching this tonight with my friends during dinner time.

So hyped for this and can't wait to hear the new tracks. Been listening to P4Anime's OPs and EDs (all two of each) on repeat for most of the week.

Probably the only hard part about watching this will be listening to the Japanese cast since I'm so used to the English cast.
