The Letter (Nintendo eShop on Wii U)
)

im curious about this
From what i could check, its a first person horror game with bad graphics, but its made by only one guy.

The idea of buying an horror game without any info sounds lovely, but i saw a short trailer and felt a little let down...

I could buy it out of the blue, if it had a good price. The lack of horror games in the current industry is killing me. Yesterday i was drooling over some old DarkSeed screens

edit: looks like its 1,99. Only way i could find the game on eshop was by the miiverse community link

I'm interested in the Jett Rocket 2 demo at least.

The eShop credit I have now (thanks Deluxe Digital Promotion!) is basically being saved for Metroid: Zero Mission though. I know it's coming soon. I can just feel it....

W101 Buy
-You like action games
-Shit never stops from happening
-You like to figure things out and get better at a game the more you play, maybe multiple playthroughs
-You like crazy boss fights
-Saturday morning cartoon
-Cool story and presentation
-Very close to 60fps
-It is fucking cheap
-Support Nintendo and Platinum

W101 No Buy
- You like to feel powerful from the start
- You like easy games that require no work or learning
- Don´t like action games with a bit of strategy
- Don´t like the above
- Jaggies (not bad in motion IMO but if you are sensitive to it might not be for you)

What's the co-op like in the game? Looking to do some couch co-op with 3 other buddies, so any opinions would be appreciated.

On a random note -

Bases Loaded (Hamster | NES | $4.99)

Who is "Hamster?"
I thought Jaleco was still around.

So, I guess there's no way to get both Remix games at the discounted price, right? Gotta pay full price for one of them...

It's pretty fun, but can be problematic at least on the first time if your friends haven't played it before. It gives you all the 7 main morphs to use right away so it can be kind of overwhelming. One way it could work is if you play through the game first so that you can get completely used to the morphs that you get later on in the game (this way you also don't spoil the enemies for yourself), and tell the others to concentrate on just 3 morphs, like gun, sword and the fist. This way you can counter the few enemies that need some of the other morphs and not have your friends overwhelmed completely (the easiest difficulty doesn't require the other morphs though). But I dunno, this is just a suggestion.

About the coop mode itself, there are 3 stages of difficulty if I remember correctly, with each difficulty having 2 missions. You obviously need to kill the enemies, but you are also competing against the other players for points and you can also steal their heroes (so you can do bigger morphs but they can do only smaller). The missions aren't very long, but they're fairly varied and it's fun to do them again with friends.

I tried it with my brother but he was pretty overwhelmed not just by the amount of morphs, but also that for a beginner it might be hard to see what's going on. He didn't like it. My friend liked it though and we tried the harder difficulties together too and even though he was a beginner he understood pretty well what was happening.

Overall it isn't really as welcoming as something like 3D World, but if your friends are used to action going on it could be pretty fun.

Nothing for me this week. I hope we don't have to wait too long for Zero Mission.

You can easily find it in the View All New Releases section. It's also been added to the Join the Indie Scene category.

Thanks! I'll do exactly that, beat the game and then try the co-op with friends.

Played through Pop 'n Twinbee once. I really enjoyed the game, a good change of pace from Crimson Clover which I've been playing the last few days. The only game of the series I've played before is that 3D Classics Twinbee (which is great) and that was also only very recently. I think I should start to look into this series some more.

You don't need coins for the Gold/Plat reward. You are given a choice based on what you finished last yr with - Plat or Gold. You pick your reward and that is all. You aren't charged for them.
Oh really? I had no idea it worked that way. Thank you for the clarification.

It's like NOA doesn't want to make money. These are all shit.

Where's all the GBA games?
Where's Super Mario Kart?
Where's Super Mario RPG?
Where's Donkey Kong Land?
Where's Brain Training?

There is no reason at all of NA to not have Brain Age DS or Mario Kart SNES on WiiU VC, that makes no sense at all

I just saw a video of it and the game was completed in only 5 minutes. The loading times constantly interrupted those 5 minutes and they were quite long for what they were loading. It also wasn't scary at all.

Even at that price, I wonder if it's worth it. I like Breakout clones but this one looks horrible plus a couple pages back someone gave a terrible impression of the game.

It isn't a Breakout clone. I have played many flash games lime it though, such as Red Remover. Blok Drop U seems to last less than an hour, and when you can get a better version online for free, it is hard to recommend.

I'm still pissed about NOA offerings this week. Do they seriously think someone is going to buy a NES baseball game?

Even worst; even if you do buy it, ya don't get it for free on the other system. You gotta buy it again!!

What the hell is wrong with them?

Yeah, this really killed the mood (there was a mood to begin with?)

It's a physic-based puzzle game. Has gotten a patch with better graphics and levels elect screen. It's a decent game, I found some of the puzzles to be challenging. It is short, maybe hour or 2, depending on how well you can solve the puzzles. But then again, we are talking about a $0.99 gase here.

And wow at The Letter... If it wasn't for the horrible loading, that environment might have been fine. That loading really kills the mood. The way it looks, really reminds me of those Early Access games on Steam.
Here is a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u39AmLJRw6Y
Edit: Holy shit, is that whole game really only 5 minutes?..

Well, what you were expecting? It's The Letter, not The Book.

The demo is sooooo bad!
You get a bunch of stages to select from, that's cool.
But here is the hook: you can only play them for one minute! That's not even enough to get a feel of the game...

Shovel Knight is so good you wanna play it a million times anyway. I recommend all of you guys just cave and get the steam version while you wait for the wii u/3ds euro versions.

I know I'm going to end up owning all three :p

If I ever own a WiiU, I'm definitely getting it on there, too! Such an excellent game!!

Nintendo should really do cross-buy.

They do. The facility is there. Only one dev so far has made use of it though. In this case, it would be up to Yacht Games not Nintendo.

A random thing about Pullblox (Pushmo? never heard of 'im). I find myself loving and hating the fact that you have to unlock the skip level option (shows up after x minutes of being stuck). I usually find myself wanting to skip a puzzle I am stuck on but end up figuring out the solution before I notice the skip option unlocking.

Maybe I am just a bit impatient...

Is it just me, or are they just referring to the Master System? I can't imagine Sega not at least supporting the GBA VC with the Sonic Advance games.

I think they already announced Sonic Advance at one point? I think he's talking about Sega systems.

I'm hoping there's some wording at work here.

The other thing I'm thinking is that Nintendo and some third-party publishers can't hammer out upgrade pricing for people that bought the games on the Wii VC. I know this isn't the case for Konami and Capcom (with Castlevania and Mega Man).
I've never gotten a clear answer on this but do PCE/MSX have an upgrade fee in Japan or do you have to rebuy them full price?

Pretty sure it was something like 50% off. It was worse than the normal upgrade price from what I remember.

The no Sega systems support shouldn't be surprising when we don't even have N64 support..

I don't really see how that's connected. If Sega wanted their Master System / Genesis games on the system, they could have made it happen (via M2). They wouldn't wait for Nintendo to finally release N64 games. There are MSX and PC Engine games in Japan, so publishers are not waiting until Nintendo's first party systems are covered.
