"Go on..."

It's a creampie snowball!

Giantbomb was the prototype of the youtube stuff.

If anything I think the better word is "influential". For example, TotalBiscuit's "WTF is..." series is basically the GB Quick Look format (something he's very open about since he also follows GB), but caters specifically and mostly to PC gamers.

now I regret not picking up Divinity during Steam sale. I can wait
Same here. I didn't realize what that game was until I watched the quick look just now. I would have bought it for sure had I known it was a D&D-style party based RPG.

Until a few hours ago I thought it was just a pretty diablo clone. I somehow missed the big ass letters saying it's a turn based rpg in the trailer.

"I've been to a lot of cons and so far the people at @GaymerX has been the friendliest."

I hope to see his impressions about it on the site.

I'll be kind of disappointed if there's no coverage of it, since it sounds like both Dan and Jason are going to it. I'd love to know what that conference is like.

That... that was something. I planned on listening to his drive this year and ended up being busy, and now I'm regretting it.

You can still listen to it if you want. Every Mixlr stream is archived. For the E3 stream specifically, Jeff downloaded the MP3 and put it on Soundcloud. You can listen to it here.

I don't want to say this cause I know some of the guys read this thread, but I can't help it...
Dan really doesn't know a lot of stuff I would think is common knowledge. He seems oddly sheltered or something. Not knowing whether D&D was a pen and paper game or a video game first? Not having mustard until he's 28? Not driving on a highway until his late 20's or something? There are other things I can't recall at the moment, but his gaps in knowledge/experience are interesting.

Did you see the Sniper Elite quicklook?

Dan goes "Was WWII in Africa?" and you can clearly hear Drew in the background guffawing.

He thought a bellows was a turkey baster.

Reminds me of a quote he put up somewhere (prob Twitter) at one point. Paraphrasing, talking to his dad.

"When you were my age you had a 10 year old. Can you picture me with a 10 year old?"
"It's easier for me to see you as a 10 year old."

Forget buying Rorie a fridge, let's buy Dan a bed frame. Put him on the road to adulthood.

I mean....GiantBomb always felt like a perfect mix between Youtube (very personality driven and focus on video content) and "professional journalism" to me. They combine the best parts of Youtube with some credibility, production values and most importantly without the bain of my existance, the "skits".

No
"Jeff: This is my pet rat Bowser and lol we have some wacky adventures, don't we Bowser?
Still Jeff but with a high pitched voice: *squeek* yes we doho Jeff
Jeff: Oh no, is this? It is! My arch nemesis Rap Man! Grrr RapMan what evil plans do you have today? I foiled your scheme in my lenghty 30 minutes video last week, and now you are back?
Jeff in a stupid fucking costume: Hahahaha yes here I am again in a new costume! Take this: Adobe lightning effects!
Oh no
*to be continued*"
as of yet, thank god.
Urgh.

But that sounds amazing.

Let's get Dan some mutton curry. He's from mid-west borderline deep south right? Then maybe he never had any authentic Indian mutton curry.

Oh I can imagine the taste of mutton curry in my mouth right now.

They are interesting (and hilarious). Is the D&D thing that crazy though? I'd guess a ton of console only gamers wouldn't know the answer to that question. If I hadn't got deep into Baldurs Gate 2, I feel like I'd be in the same boat.

I knew it was archived; it's more an issue of it being so long and hard to justify listening to over other things. But I plan on going on some long walks in the near future, so I might just end up listening to it during that. Thanks for the archive link, in any case.

All I know about DnD is that they are conduits of demonic sacrifice and worship thanks to my early childhood exposure to chick tracks

I think it's probably due to environment, he came from Minnesota(?).
I came from backward ass town in South East Asia, and did not have mustard until recently when I came to Germany. D&D? There's no way anyone in my town knows that, heck I don't even recall if there's a shopping mall in our island and nor highway.

He's probably very much shaped by his environment, I guess.

The D&D thing isn't that crazy. Even if you've played the old Infinity Engine games, it's not really obvious what D&D really is and how the games are based on different rulesets of D&D. You have to pretty much seek out that information. If you've never played D&D and have no inteterest in it, I can totally see someone being totally ignorant of it.
