This is like AM talk radio in a nutshell.
Heard 'em all. What do I win?
Such as?Check your privilege is something you should never say to anyone else. All it does is create a point of conflict. If you cant phrase it in another way, you shouldn't be saying it.
Lists like this are why it's not even worth discussing racism. Everything boils down to, "If you're white, just shut up and feel bad about it."
All of these things have been written on GAF in race/racism threads.
people are asking you to listen to them and understand not to feel bad about something. Stop making yourselves into some kinda victims when you aren't even willing to have a discussion in the firstplaceLists like this are why it's not even worth discussing racism. Well that takes care of the "just shut up" part.
No. It's a list to show you shouldn't be making ignorant comments about racism. It's really not hard to understand.Lists like this are why it's not even worth discussing racism. Everything boils down to, "If you're white, just shut up and feel bad about it."
i don't see anything wrong with that because all minorities suffer from racismI wish people would stop using the phrase "person/people of color". It's unnecessarily divisive, factually wrong (only true albinoes lack color), and assumes everyone who isn't white can be lumped together into a group.

I'm not sure I understand this either.Well...
1) What is Iggy Azalea doing wrong, again?
"Please try and see this from my point of view" a very simple and much less toxic way of saying the same thing
If I was bragging or thinking solely of the benefits I've received in my life while talking about those suffering in war torn countries, I think I definitely should be told to check my privilege.
Thats not ever the context the phrase is used in thought
Check your privilege.
I 'love' when I hear people justify racist shit by saying "but that famous comedian does it."
Yea, and?
It's just a stupid 'the market has spoken' argument.
I've experienced more racism than probably 99% of the people that's posted in this thread. Another reason this is a dumb thing to say is people assume because someone disagrees there has to be elevated levels of privilege involved.

High blood pressure.
I thought we automatically had that? :x
Number 2 is what they teach to you in Germany. If you try to categorize people in different Races people will call you racist.
White Bro-in-law said Zimmerman case isn't about racism because Zimmerman is Hispanic, I wanted to punch him so much in the face, but I'm too much of a pacifist.
It isn't even a contentious thing to say, it's pretty neutral. But for the sake of argument, why do you think that if it were contentious that invalidates the sentiment behind it?

Isn't saying "all white people say clueless things" just another facet of racism? These blanket statements are part of the problem because they just make one side defensive. I don't know, there's a better way to make this argument.

Well, that would require you to know what everyone else in the thread has experienced, so I'm just going to suggest you're talking out of your ass.

People only use it when it's necessary.
