PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

I don't believe Tidus.

Lately, every comment from Sony about the Vita has been similar to the ones given when a company is getting ready to discontinue a product or when a system is 6/7 years old. They are going to devote zero resources to the system.

Expect nothing. They got their PS4 success and they are throwing the Vita under the bus.

I think you mean they are taking the Vita and attaching it to the PS4 like a parasitic leech and calling it a "companion device" and nothing more.

Gamescom 2012 was the point where my faith in Sony supporting Vita was completely restored. Gamescom last year was the exact point I gave up all hope of Sony supporting the Vita. Gamescom 2014? We'll see. I have zero expectations so I cant be disappointed. I really mean that. I wasn't even disappointed by Vita at E3. Expectations were met.

Dragon's Crown question:

To obtain the talismans:
I just have to select route b option on all nine levels and beat the boss? I got three of them that way, but on one level, don't remember which, I think it just ended after I beat the b-route boss.

beat the B route boss, before the game decides you need help.

Well, last year Gamescom was really great for Vita (Memory Card price drop, a few new games/ports announced) and the fact SCEJ and SCEE (which runs this event) do care about the Vita, we can be realistically hopeful that we will get SOMETHING positive for the Vita :D.

Granted, this really won't apply for those in NA (as SCEA still hasn't released some games on EU PSN here yet.....where is the Vita Ratchet Collection man X(), but the price drop for the MC's was applied in US too, so who knows.

At the very least though this will be a hell of a lot better then Sony's E3 this year....that was very disappointing :(.

Yes, but all route B bosses have a proper way to be killed to yield you the talisman. In general, if the boss flees, dies by the scenario, NPCs (non-party members) appers to help you or you're sent away from the fight, you won't get the talisman. The stage clear screen background will have a doorway intead of treasures, too.

I'll never understand how people thought Gamescom was good for Vita last year. We literally got zero new retail game announements that weren't ports. The big game announcement was Borderlands 2. That says it all.

Ok i won't hype for Gamescom :\ (i had no intention honestly, but i still have a little of faith in SCEE and SCEJA)

Is this new?

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/07/12/sony-the-future-for-the-ps-vita-remains-unclear?+main+twitter

House confirms that Vita's future is unclear but i don't remember anyone saying that Vita is an AAA machine in Japan.

"I certainly think you’ll still see [Vita] as a triple-A machine in Japan where it has a different function with the console dynamic of the marketplace," he said. "That for me is a given. It’s hard to say in terms of the other markets."

I think so. Last year the Vita got a much better GamesCom than E3. Same went for the previous year. If GC is disapointing, you can assault Sony HQ like the 80s action hero you wanted to be as a kid. .

I've had this problem a few times with the Reaper and the Kraken. If that happens just grind a little.

Every Gamescom has been better than the same year's E3 for the Vita so far. That being said, we only got a few multi-platform indies and a F2P montage this year, so the bar isn't exactly high.

Its very simple, they gave a proper amount of screen time to talk about the Vita in a good light (about....10-15 minutes of gameplay trailers, announcements of indie games landing for the system and some new port like Borderlands coming). Sure, it isn't that great no new stuff on a caliber of Killzone or Tearaway was announced but at the very least they treated the Vita as a DAMN system at Gamescom.

This E3, Sony treated the device as some add-on for the PS4 and the Vita TV as a PS Now box that just 'happens' to play Vita games X(.

.....It isn't really that hard to top anything SCEA does with the Vita....as they do nothing at all for the device :(.

More like the market has spoken. The market doesn't want watered down AAA games on Vita, and Sony will not make more of them.

That said, there are still new Vita games announced on a weekly basis and that happens mostly because Sony invests and convinces developers to do these ports. For example, this week Skullgirls was announced for PS4 and Vita, if Sony was ready to discontinue the product that would be a PS4 only announcement.

There were dozens of downloadable games announced for Vita at Gamescom, it was a fantastic show. Borderlands 2 is a terrible game next to most of them.

Better than E3 isn't saying much. The problem is that last year I was expecting some Killzone and Tearaway level announements like in 2012. Gamescom last year was the show that confirmed Vita is dead when it comes to AAA titles. I'm not sure how people got a positive out of that. Guess people just didn't have the expectations I did. Well I've resigned to the fact AAA games are dead on Vita now so at least that kind of disappointment is never going to happen again.

I do agree Gamescom last year was good for indies though.

Do you guys really believe all the bullcrap quotes these guys are pulling for these "The Vita is Dead" articles? The shit is clickbait, it's tailored that way to get views. Get over it.

Yes, I thought so! I had problems with the boss where I didn't get the Talisman (The three headed .. thing (Snake/Lion etc.)

My only expectation for E3 was for Ratchet & Clank Collection to be announced for North America, and SCEA didn't even do that. Even better, the game still doesn't have a release date in the US. If the Gamescom press conference gave us a few more multiplatform indies and a sizzle reel of already announced (non-F2P) games, my expectations would be met. >.>

Vita is dead

Comeon Guys we cannot lose hope. Just today I was thinking what are the chances of Sony releasing Standalone uncharted multiplayer port to vita with all the maps, accessories, characters, game modes from UC2 & 3 along with new maps based on 1 & GA.
Edit: Oh I forgot the bots. Cannot have it without bots.
Probably Never :(

Um, teflon-kun...i hate to break it to you like this, but...well, stick a fork in it and see if it twitches.

Just looked up a few videos for Rogue Legacy. As someone who doesn't like most platformers... I need this in my life. I haven't been so excited to play an indie game since Torchlight 2. It's just too bad that the game won't be out in time for my 13-hour flight on the 25th. :(

My bets for Gamescom are very modest :l.

- 64GB Memory Cards finally coming to EU and US at retail for 60 bucks, with 32 and 16GB memory cards getting discounted (with 32GB = 40 bucks and 16GB = 20 bucks).
- Ratchet Collection gets a release date for US sometime for August (late most likely).
- Team Ico Collection gets announced for Vita alongside either Prince of Persia and/or Splinter Cell Collection coming for Vita (Sony would pay for these ports to pad out releases).
- Gravity Rush 2 gets another trailer and is announced to be a cross-platform games (coming to PS4/PS3/Vita).
- New Killzone Mercenary game (same engine with the same levels but with some new content lifted from Shadow Fall) coming early next year.
- Sony Bend and MM show off there games (cross-platform tittles for PS4/PS3/Vita)
- Sanzaru announces Sly 5 for PS3/Vita (summer next year)
- PlayStation TV gets more information released (great BC with PSP/PS1 games, larger amount of Vita games compatible with it, Minecraft bundle announced for it).
- New Vita bundles for EU: Green Vita 2000 (Minecraft), Yellow Vita (Ratchet Collection), Red Vita (God of War Collection), White Vita (FF X/X-2 Remaster), Blue (Freedom Wars) and Black Vita (basic model with 16GB MC).
- More Indie games announced for the device (expected; SCEE does a great job courting indies to Vita :D)
- I suppose some kind of third party support from other publishers (um....2K porting X-Com to Vita? .....Square porting a few of there mobile games to Vita? ....I honestly don't know man :l).

I wouldn't say that's modest at all, tbf.

.....How isn't that modest X(; paying for ports, bring over some of the other Vita 2000 colors for bundles and bring over the 64GB memory card would take little to no effort for crying out loud :(.

If you are talking about the new games (Sony Bend, MM, GC), then I guess you would be right but it would be smart for Sony (having games be Cross-Platform means the budget would be smaller then normally, the Vita gets support without detracting resources from PS4 games, and the PS3 gets support too).

....Then again, I guess I was being TOO hopeful that Sony would do something for the Vita, so, don't mind me :(....

Fixed :)

Now about your opinions:

Sure tier:

- PlayStation TV gets more information released (great BC with PSP/PS1 games, larger amount of Vita games compatible with it, Minecraft bundle announced for it).
- More Indie games announced for the device (expected; SCEE does a great job courting indies to Vita :D)

Likely tier:

- Team Ico Collection gets announced for Vita alongside either Prince of Persia and/or Splinter Cell Collection coming for Vita (Sony would pay for these ports to pad out releases).

Posible tier:

- I suppose some kind of third party support from other publishers (um....2K porting X-Com to Vita? .....Square porting a few of there mobile games to Vita? ....I honestly don't know man :l).
- Gravity Rush 2 gets another trailer and is announced to be a cross-platform games (coming to PS4/PS3/Vita).
[/QUOTE]

Unlikely tier:

- New Killzone Mercenary game (same engine with the same levels but with some new content lifted from Shadow Fall) coming early next year.
- Sanzaru announces Sly 5 for PS3/Vita (summer next year).
- Sony Bend show off there games (cross-platform tittles for PS4/PS3/Vita)

Not hapening tier:

- New Vita bundles for EU: Green Vita 2000 (Minecraft), Yellow Vita (Ratchet Collection), Red Vita (God of War Collection), White Vita (FF X/X-2 Remaster), Blue (Freedom Wars) and Black Vita (basic model with 16GB MC).
- MM show of their games (cross-platform titles for PS4/PS3/Vita)

- Ratchet Collection gets a release date for US sometime for August (late most likely).

Not their job. It's a EU conference, so US only news would be weird.

If Little Big Plannet 3 is not PS4/PS3/Vita, I don't know why any of those games could happen.

And Sony has already released bundles with those games for EU. But they all are black Vitas. The West doesn't get cool colors like Japan.
