But Dark Samus, Dillon, Saki, Isaac, and Ray are also third-tier characters in their own respect. (Dillon, Saki, and Ray definitely are, anyway.)

Dillion's representing his own franchise I thought? And I've never been too bothered by assist trophies, It just kinda meshes with my notion that Smash Bros is Nintendo's bragging rights to the rest of the gaming world.

You would think if they were wanting to be faithful to recent Star Fox material enough to use Fox's 64 VO they would also remodel him to actually resemble that version of Fox.

This concerns me with Wolf in particular, because Brawl Wolf is a completely different animal (lol) than 64 Wolf. And I like Brawl Wolf.

It's his SF64 voice actor, so it's likely not a placeholder. They could re-record the "Fire" line.

I'd also expect Falco & Wolf to get their SF64 voices.

I really liked the Brawl voices for Falco and Wolf :/

I preferred Brawl fox to sm4sh fox as well but Melees is the best.

They didn't remodel fox so why would they remodel wolf?

Melee Fox & Falco were too Engrish for my tastes. I would have rather has those VAs as the Japanese voices only & have actual English voices as an option.

Likewise, I hope English Marth is an option in the final release now that Shadow Dragon is a thing. It was weird enough with Ike having an English option in Brawl (granted, no Marth game was localized at the time), but with both Ike & surely Chrom in English, Marth at least deserves the ability to switch between the two in the Options menu.

In my quest to beat games before Smash spoils them I finally bothered to beat the Elite Four in Pokémon X today (I stopped playing outside Victory Road for some reason (lying, the reason was New Leaf)). So that's the Wii U Pokémon stage dealt with (which we have seen since) and now for Xenoblade. Questing is fun(!)

Little fact: Today marked exactly nine months since I started my X file. Nine months it took me to finish something most finished in a week.

little late but we're on day 2 of waiting so here's a .gif

Did Sakurai ever explain why Elite 4 is a Wii U stage? I thought each platforms would get exclusive stages based games associated with it and obviously Pokemon has always been a handheld series.

They needed a pokemon stage somehow, and the last console game
Rumble U doesn't count
was in 2007 and poorly received.

And it was so unmemorable it took a me a minute to realize XD: Gale of Darkness wasn't the last console game.

P.S. People should give XD a try.

Collosseum and XD are both kind of under rated, and it's a damn shame there wasn't one on the Wii/Wii U with all triple battles. Triple battles really needed something like that to showcase them, and they likely won't be that popular until something really does.

There's no reason to model any Stare Fax character after the 64 rerelease. Design wise it's a step backwards, and makes no sense.

Might aswell remodel Mario to a high definition 64 model, too while we are at it.

Brawl Falco and Wolf are better designs but the SF64/Melee design for Fox is better than the one in brawl.

But there'd be no point having two different design styles for characters in the same franchise so I'd rather just stick to the one that has the two better designs than just the one.

I'd like to see what brawl fox body + classic fox head looks like actually.

I'm guessing it may have to do with Star Fox 64 3D...

Speaking of voice placeholders, it seemed that I heard the same voices from Brawl for Marth, DK, Bowser, Luigi, Mario and a few others.

Are these really placeholders or did Sakurai get lazy and just copy n' paste?

Marth's design is based on a remake's design. It's not unprecedented.

I prefer Melee/SF64 Falco, but Brawl Falco still looks great.

As for the voice, I really like Mark Lund's voice in SF643D, so I'd be happy with the potential change. Dex still did a great job in Brawl though.

Fox looks bad in Brawl though. do you mean it would chronologically be a step backwards?

We are observing the decision to give Fox his 64 voice actor and how this would impact Falco and Wolf. If they too get their 64 3D voice actors, we have a design disagreement with Wolf specifically.

Wolf's character in 64 is a really faux-sophisticated English man who expresses his perceived superiority with condescension. He is the kind of character who would stand up right with his chin high so that he might look down his nose at you.

Wolf's character in Brawl is a super-confident tough guy who expresses his perceived superiority through intimidation. Wolf's posture is almost feral, and vicious. Like one wrong move and he'll be on you. He's not the kind of guy you want to cross.

And neither voices are interchangeable with the other's personality or design.

So since they're using Fox's Brawl model with how 64 VO, it's not unreasonable to question how the other Star Fox fighters will be handled. Because we are already observing how Fox's 64 voice, which portrays a younger Fox, doesn't really mesh well with how he has been portrayed in Smash.

Edit: Referred to Brawl Wolf as 64 Wolf and made no sense.

Marth's design is based on a remake's design. It's not unprecedented.

It's important to note that Marth's last brand-new game was in the 90's and thus has no recent designs besides the remakes (unless you count his appearance in Awakening, which is a bit part). Fox has had 3 games since SF64.

Watching that footage I noticed that there is a new sound-effect for when Mario hits someone with his cape that sounds like the cape spinning sound-effect from Super Mario World. That's pretty cool.
