Filling that Star Fox and his design quotas I see.

Let me weigh in.

Looks just fine to me.

Like with Link, the render is far superior to the ingame model (at least on the Wii U version). There's something about his teeth and fur that just looks off. And the design itself, while it would look okay with a better model, as it does on the 3DS and the render, when combined with the Wii U model, something horrifying happens.

Oh God, please tell me that Fox voice is a placeholder.

I think I'm the only one that loves his voice in this game so far. Fox in 64 always struck me as bit of a nerd, it was part of his character for me. I love that he's more reminiscent of that rather than "omg um a bud ass um fux."

Fox sounds bad when he says "Fire!", but his grunts and win quote sound totally fine. I still prefer Brawl though. SF:Assault always had the best voice actors.

This is why I've never liked Melee Fox. The face and attitude do not match the character at all.
Yeah, he looks extremely stiff and angry, and his eyebrows have always weirded me out.

I didn't like Brawl Fox at first because I wanted him to have his Assault design, but his design grew on me and eventually I realized that's it's pretty decent.

His in-game model looks fine, same with Link. Link's model has a few things wrong with the face (mostly the eyes, but the nose can use some work), care to elaborate on what makes the rest of the model off or bad? He honestly looks good in some shots and bad in others, and in motion you really don't notice anything.

As for Fox, I never cared for his dead eyes look in Melee, all he had going for him there was simplicity and it was nice at the time cause SF64 was the game of that time (not counting the game that was supposed to star Krystal). This new Fox with all the zippers and shit, looks a bit more edgy, but the colors are better and I like how his gloves and boots are highlighted red. Star Fox characters are not the pinnacle of Nintendo character design, they looked fucking goofy in their debut and have improved since. But if you ask me, Smash is going a good job with their aesthetics. They feel like space animals from duh fyucha.

Btw, I am also just noticing Link looks better on the 3DS version.

The head is just so bad though.

I'm trying to notice what is wrong but can't. What am I not seeing?

It's a good thing subjectivity was systematically disproven!

Seriously though, Melee Fox is hideous. The angry corgi comparison is apt. Command Fox ain't pretty but it's still an improvement.

How does "it's ugly, but not as ugly as before!" refute that it's ugly, though

I like both Fox McClouds. Falco took the real L between Melee and Brawl, though. Lose the scouter, Lombardi.

But they needed to test how scouters should look in SSB in preparation for Vegeta.

I wouldn't call it ugly. It's no showstopper, but it's not hideous. Melee Fox is hideous. Command Fox is just kinda meh. I'd set him up with some of my more comely friends on a blind date without feeling bad while I spend the night burying the corpse of Melee Fox with the shovel I used to beat him to death in a botched attempt to make his face more palatable.

On a slightly related note, Falco's ugly in both his incarnations.

also i am not a furry

IMO, Brawl Falco is an improvement in every single aspect. Melee Falco creeps me out. He looks like a parrot with a weird spiky mohawk and a big head.

I feel about most of Melee's character models the same way I feel about Neatherrealm's females and Rare's humanoids. For whatever reason, they just missed the mark. Melee has always looked weird to me. It just doesn't look like a legit Nintendo game. Why do all the characters look so different from the way they do in their games? And why are their proportions so wonky?

Ohhh Yes, I am a Sonic fan. Man, if I really wanted to hide it, then I would. But I don't! Oh my gosh, an even bigger surprise is that Spring-loaded is pointing it out!

What do the Sonic Boom designs have to do with anything? At least they are funny unlike your shitty attempts to undermine my opinions at every turn because I like Sonic. I know it is the easiest way to run away from any legit debate or discussion, but please, I urge you not to take the easy way out as you are no different from the worst Sonic fans since we are debating clothes on fictional anthropomorphic animals and their voices on a forum full of nerds. Outside looking in, people would pair us all in the same group. So please, keep projecting shit on me based off my username, and maybe when it is actually funny I will laugh.

Fox's face in Command doesn't look as bad as it does in the SSB series because of the art style in the visual-novel soap opera dialogue segments. Here, it just looks awful.

Melee fox's head actually has a shape resembling a fox compared to corgi Fox. Don't know how people are saying Melee Fox looks like a corgi. Image search those animals if need be. If they went with SF643D's design, we'd have a not-overly-detailed design (like in Melee) and a not a wide-faced corgi-ish-looking thing like in Brawl.

I just used a recent/relevant terrible redesign as an example. Why take it personally? you don't see how "well, I like it" is a lame excuse for an argument?

Marth STILL speaks Japanese? Ugh, it's almost as if Sakurai thinks ANY change to make characters more like themselves instead of "original smash characters" is a negative
I really doubt Sakurai has anything to do with Marth speaking Japanese in the English versions. That is almost assuredly on the localization teams.

For me the biggest character design I had an issue with was...Pichu.

No I'm totally serious. Pichu's head is overly massive. At times it appears to be just a head and tiny lets running and that is it. No matter how you slice it his head it simply not that big.

Brawl Falco > Melee Falco
Smash 4 Render Fox > Every Fox before it

The designs are fine and totally fit the nature of the StarFox franchise. They're distinctive without going too far into the creepy or overly humorous.

Also leave Japanese Marth alone. While I'd love to see what they'd do with an English VA, Marth's current VA is iconic in its own right.
