man I am going to miss ESPN doing world cups. The World Cup tonight recaps at the end of the day were a highlight of the tournament for me. You could see all the people in the studio had a great time in the last show today. They still have the 2016 Euros but the WC won't be the same without ESPN.

Great ending montage as well.

The real winner today is Pique.

Anyways, well-deserved victory for Germany. Glad that nation got the monkey off its back and hopefully the press will get off Low's back as well.

They were four years ahead of schedule in 2010, and they got everything right this time around. Remarkable attacking talent in this generation of German football. Hope Schweini will still be in form for 2014.

Really excited to see Gotze fully integrated into the team as a false 9 as un-German as that seems. Once Schweini and Khedira got match fit in the knockout stages and Lahm got back to fullback, they shone as the best team in the field.

Argentina has to be kicking itself for those two misses, but it is what it is. You've got to finish the plays. Messi will unduly get a lot of the blame as he sometimes unduly gets the credit. Think he knows that at this point. I can't really hate on him considering how humble he is (and the many successes he's had). He had a good tournament overall, but it's hard to break through individually when the opponent's tactics are to face you up the entire game. He had a worse game against Germany then against Holland but of course Germany is a better team even with Khedira's late calf injury.

Mascherano had a great tournament. He and Messi were the engines. For the 30th time, good (bad) job Liverpool. Zabaleta had a much better tournament than I expected. I will enjoy never watching Rojo whine again.

Overall, this was a great tournament, much better than 2010 and even 2006. For one, the final was SIGNIFICANTLY less cynical than 2010.

Now let's get ready for club football.

Wrong.

1. Not the 5 meter box. It's the penalty box.

2. He got first touch and was within the box.

3. Goalies are taught to jump with knees up like that to protect their body.

QFT!

I mentioned it before, but players are taught to track the ball at all times. He was fixed on the ball, but she should know that keepers will play the ball on a break when the back is stretched.

Full speed collisions are never good, but it's not a foul, nor a card.

So... time to start the timer. Just 1,460 days until the next WC game... :(

At least in the meantime we have a Euro Cup, two Copa America Cups, and the Olympics to pass the time.

Yeah. Fox's track record does not inspire much confidence.

This will be an amazing World Cup . Germany and Argentina golden generation will be gone . Brazil will have a new new generation built around Neymar. Holland's old guard will be gone . Spain's upcoming talent will be in. I think we will see a France vs Spain final looking at current and future talent or even Belgium

Germany, really? Lahm will probably remain world class but I can see Schweinsteiger taking a dip, that's about it really.

Sorry mate, but Germany is still at the beginning.
They've got so many awesome talents coming up, plus there were alot of injured players who would have been playing otherwise.

Gündogan,Bender twins,Reus and many more.

You what? Lol, it's only going to get better for the Germans

Exactly, the Dortmund bros will come back for the holding midfield positions and potentially another amazing keeper in Ter Stegen.

So Germany doesn't have upcoming talent?

They will all be one of the oldest teams in terms of
Stars at the wc cup like Spain now and you can see what happened to Spain when age gets to you

uhhhh

Only Schweinsteiger and Lahm are on the wrong side of 27.

From what i read not as good as the current crop which is why its called the golden generation. Young talent can only work with experience, look at Belgium this World Cup . Probably one of the most talented but no good experience

Mueller: 24
Reus: 25
Kroos: 24
Oezil: 25
Schuerrle: 23

They'll be hitting their prime in 2018

Yep, that's wishful thinking right there.

Winning WC in Brazil, beating Brazil 7:1 will never be topped BUT Germany has some great talents coming through. Germany won U-21 Euro in 2009.

Congratulations Germans! you deserved it! great great world cup. Being brazilian, it was great to see how the nations reacted here, now let's see 2018 who will be champions. France could've advanced more if they didn't confront germany in the quarter-finals.

Who do you guys think will be the great teams of 2018?
