schweinsteiger was so boss returning to the field pumped up after the stitches.

so glad this squad finally has a world cup. too many disappointments in previous tournaments for them.

Not sure. Hard call. He has done a lot and he is the reason they got so far. But there are many others that deserved it.

"All things put together, I think Argentina deserved at least penalties. That Germany won was the result of a misunderstanding in the Argentine defense."
According to Maradona.

It was kinda unfortunate for them that last minute goal, but the rest is nonsense. It was deserved by GER imo, but besides that... more then 90% of goals are the result of defense flaws. Most of them are forced by the attacker, but without a defenders and keeper flaw it's nearly impossible to score.

That looks disgusting. Yeah i'll take the steak.

.

I'm very sorry from Christoph Kramer.
Played like 3 or 4 minutes in the WC so far and get to play from the beginning in the final.
Makes a great match and gets knocked out brutally after half an hour.
I hope his 30mins where enough to bring him on the radar for many great clubs. (not saying that Gladbach isn't a great club, but Kramer could play at the best clubs.)

Yesterday's game was a really enjoyable one.
I'm glad the team i was rooting for won, and sat on the edge of my seat the entire second half, lol.

I'm also glad Argentina brought their very best game, despite missing DiMaria, and gave it their all.

I'm glad i was old enough, in 2006 when Italy won, to remember the "morning after" feel, enjoy it German GAF, and congratulations on having the best football team out there.

Maradona doesn't understand modern football.

Germany were playing a fast attack football - the entire tactis is based on the idea to exploit any weaknesses and mistakes of the opposite team.
Most of the goals against Argentina, Brazil and Algeria only took a handful seconds between getting the ball in the midfield and scoring.

It's very similiar how Real Madrid destroyed Pep's tiki-taka Bayern in the last CL season.

Well, since your team doesn't deliver they need another darling to cheer on. And what I've read this morning on bbc.com and theguardian.com didn't seem like "fawning over everything German" to me. They made the correct observation that the massive changes in youth training, tactics etc. made by the German FA ten years ago and the readiness of German players to stay in Germany and as result play together a lot more often than National Players of other nations in other leagues led to this World Cup. They also correctly observed that England needs to make similarily drastic changes as well.

Where did you see "fawning over everything German" ?

It's not only about Germany having the better soccer team. The British media is kind of obsessed with German success stories. "Why are they so good at everything?" "What can we learn from Germany?" etc etc. There are even some BBC documentaries like "BBC make me a German" in which a British family moves to Germany for a couple of weeks and emulates the German lifestyle. I have no idea why they're so obsessed with us, the UK can't be that bad.

Lol those living abroad shows are a common format and has little to do with the country, in this case Germany.

Never underestimate English self loathing.

dat bromance, at Dortmund / Bayern <3

What's going on here?, Only heads of state and previous FIFA World Cup winners can touch the solid-gold trophy.

she's a queen.

Apologies if this has been posted, but a little curiosity: Neuer has completed more passes than Messi:

Neuer has a faster top speed than Messi too, lol. And Özil also completed more passes, covered more distance and was way faster. Either Messi was injured, a product of the system or he's done.

Yes? That's almost to be expected sin't it? A keeper rarely misses passes to his defenders, except for goal kicks, and most teams play a lot back to their defenders and their defenders back to their keeper. They make a lot of triangles to. In a few minutes a keeper can have passed the ball many times. What this does prove is that most statistics are not useful and a lot need context as well. So you would need to compare him to other keepers. It's still good, but it doesn't sound that special to me. Players higher up on the field experience much more pressure form their opponents, resulting in ball loss.

Either Messi was injured, a product of the system or he's done.
You come to that conclusion from a World Cup?

Congrats. Seems like the game wasn't as boring as I expected.

Just now saw your reply. Told you before the match - anyone who thought us Germans would win by a landslide were still drunk on that Brazil game.

Good game, maybe you'll win next time.

First touch at full speed, the ball never hits the ground. One fluid movement. GOAT goal in a WC final.

That guy is 22 years old...and he scores a goal in a world cup final, but not just any goal, a goal so beautiful that generations of young soccer players want to relive that moment...

Look at him, ICECOLD! I stood up around the 60 minute mark and couldnt sit down again until that goal...breathtaking and just marvelous...

Ein Gott unter den Menschen...

Ah, that crosses the line o.O
Had no idea you were also talking about stuff outside of football in your post, my bad :)

EDIT: So it's just a normal "living abroad" show? We have plenty of those as well :D (although the UK isn't too favored as a new home country in those :lol)

So true. Neither of us here in Munich was able to sit down. Even in the extra time breaks. I'm still getting goosebumps when I see that goal.

Cologne was an overall party in the citycentre even an hour after the trophy have been handed out...such an awesome experience. I mean I was alive in 1990 but I was 1 1/2 years old, so I dont know a single thing from back then. Euro 1996 was crazy too but not as crazy and awesome as this world cup win

We in Pforzheim stood on the tables for the entire extra time. I'll have to rewatch the last half hour of the game, didn't see jackshit. No idea how much time was left to play after Götze's goal as well.

So, this is it....this is how it feels to see your team winning the world cup. Great feeling, don't let us wait 24 years until next one tho :D

Why is podolski prancing around like he had something to do with the victory? Lol. He seems to have taken the trophy and not letting anyone come anywhere near it.

I feel so bad for all the people working over at FIFA headquarters. For the last 15 hours they have been slaving away through all the rule books and laws desperately trying to find away to redact the German win and retroactively award Messi and his team of lucrative sponsorship deals the World Cup trophy. It's easy to feel bad for everyone over at FIFA, but they should have suspected this years ago when Sepp put up that banner in the office, "Germans Don't Sell"

I left Leopoldstraße at 2am and it was still crowded as fuck. Thats like 3 hours after the game.
One could think everyone in munich is unemployed or BMW cancelled work on monday.

Because the title was 10 years in the making and Podolski, Schweinsteiger, Lahm and all the other "old ones" were due to win it. Podolski is an integral part inside the team, he is a major drive for teambuilding and fun. He is as important as every other player is, and he is wellliked all around the globe.
