I left Leopoldstraße at 2am and it was still crowded as fuck. Thats like 3 hours after the game.
One could think everyone in munich is unemployed or BMW cancelled work on monday.

Haha, well I guess one night without sleep for that event is alright. Still, I avoid Leopoldstraße for years. It used to be great but not anymore. Its where the crowd is though.
34,57 million viewers in germany, highest amount ever and the average for the hole world cup is around 11 mio, which is huge

That's 90% of the market and those public viewers aren't even counted in. Looks like the whole country was watching that final. The thirst is real.

And if SPIEGEL (I think I read it in SPIEGEL.de) didn't lie to use those 34,57 million don't even include any kind of Public Viewing (sorry BritGAF/US-GAF). Berlin alone had over 500k visitors at the Siegessäule, so if all the other officials Public Viewings+Bars+...+watching with friends are included I'm sure the number will be closer to 40mil - 50mil. Pure madness o.O

Still pretty low imo
That's a rating (Einschaltquote) of almost 90%.

Oh shit, I forgot to mention. I was talking to my dad after the match, the ABC news channel in the town where I grew up, cut away from the last 15 minutes of the World Cup final to drone on about a fucking tornado warning (these are bullshit north east tornadoes, not insane ones like out west) in the area, that they had already warned about in for the previous two hours. The unmissable emergency warning noise and ticker crawl was used several times on their broadcast feed during the match, but they still felt the need to fully cut away back to their podunk news station and show some asshole in a tie re-tell you the same information in 10 different ways.

I live at Leopoldstraße next to the Busbahnhof, and I can tell you, I didn't get much sleep yesterday.

When I went upstairs again at a quarter to 2 AM it looked like the party just started.

omg gaaaaaaaaaaaafbros ;__;

...They made the correct observation that the massive changes in youth training, tactics etc. made by the German FA ten years ago and the readiness of German players to stay in Germany and as result play together a lot more often than National Players of other nations in other leagues led to this World Cup. They also correctly observed that England needs to make similarily drastic changes as well.
...

The english press wrote the exact same things 2008, 2010, etc.
And literally nothing has changed.

Just curious, is it any sort of work holiday in Germany today?

Not officially, no. People are either calling in sick or utterly tired at work (that would be me :lol)

The english press wrote the exact same things 2008, 2010, etc.
And literally nothing has changed.
And we saw the result in Group Phase. How often does your team have to be humiliated before your FA decides to change something? Real shame

What do you mean nothing has changed? England are losing even faster now, which means journalists can re-publish the same articles again with little to no down time. That sounds like a big uptick in efficiency to me! I think they are still a few years out from a real-time cynicism and disappointment feedback loop, but if the FA steps up their game and hires another average as fuck English manager, I think they'll get there.

What's everyone's ideal squad? Mine would be

-------------------Neuer
Lahm --- Vlaar --- Rojo --- Rodriguez
--Mascherano ------ Pogba
----------------James
Robben------Van Persie---Schurrle

Struggling with the LB and CF positions. Neither deserve it, but hardly anyone else.

1. Duitsland 1761
2. Argentinië 1689
3. Nederland 1525
4. Colombia 1492
5. België 1410
6. Uruguay 1330
7. Spanje 1229
8. Brazilië 1220
9. Zwitserland 1216
10. Frankrijk 1212

This should be the new FIFA ranking. Massive jump for us from 15 to 3. With The Netherlands above Belgium and Switzerland again it's a tiny bit more accurate at least this time around.

Hmmmyes, that Götze goal. Very nice. I could watch this for hours on end.

Also,
the last half second was cut off for some reason, here's the full version:

Yuck, canned Kartoffelsalat.

The mayo abomination, to boot.

Curse you for doing that to delishus taters, Northern Germans!
Handmade is best, with thinly sliced cucumbers and raw onion, roasted bacon bits and a helping of soup stock. Since it's a salad, it needs a touch of vinegar and oil. Best when still warm.

There can be no other way of salad-related potato processing. Now that the unifying force of the World Cup is mostly gone I am fully prepared to gut the next dirty Prussian who dares disgrace this glorious gift from the Bavarian gods.

Just kidding. Obviously. It was obvious, right? Right? *puts away knife* *eats Kartoffelsalat with fork*

Anyway...

See you in four years, Football-GAF. Or two, if we get a good Euro-whatever-it's-called-Cup-thread going.

I think that's the lowest I can ever remember seeing Brazil

Blind and Müller, or if you have an unreasonable hatred, Klose because he's a legend.

Blind basically inspired win against Spain and he was pretty solid throughout, topping with a superbly placed goal.

What an amazing build up to a beautiful goal ^_^

Destiny will hand us Gary Neville who will pick 22 players who really haven't ever met before. All central defenders who can't defend,

LOL Portugal knocked out of the top 10, should be a wake up call to the FPF but they won't do anything about i

Good god I didn't sleep much tonight and I don't even know why exactly o.o I'm sad everything is over but yeah still happy for the German Team :D It's this type of feeling when things go back from a huge party to monotonous everyday stuff :(

And ugh... does anyone know of any good deals for FIFA 14 for PS4 (or PC) in Germany? I have the urge to play FIFA again even though I prefer PES for actual gameplay and I have PES14 on PS3 again from PS+. Or should I go with the World Cup game? I heard it's half a game as always though the WC atmosphere... hmm I don't know D:

Co-sign everything, it's been an amazing month. Bom dia Brasil!

I was woken by fireworks and car horns around OEZ. It was everywhere... And yea BMW was very empty this morning. :p

I have never seen a so dramatic world cup. Although I was against it, and even with it's problems, Brazil delivered, and I'm so fuckin' proud and relieved.

At first I thought Germany might make it a national day off, but then I realized Germany doesn't roll like that lol. Realistically, I am thinking there will be some leniency from the employers today.

Is this the official one by the FIFA? Or also done by journalists?

It's pretty much the same as the one Dutch journalists calculated, except the points don't exactly match.

I wouldn't bet on it. Since it looked possible for The Netherlands to grab the cup my employer already stated last week that anyone who calls in sick today should be providing an official doctors note to prove you're actually sick and not just partying.

Blind played very well in the first and last match, but aside from that was our weakest link (outside of Wijnaldum). Big holes and shaky passes all around. Muller's not really a CF. Klose is a stiff like Huntelaar.

I meant more so for the people that show up tired and the reduced productivity that would follow.
