US PSN 99¢ Flash Sale: Wild Arms, Syphon Filter, Dino Crisis, Legend of Dragoon, more

Quick someone please sell me on Harvest Moon PSX. I never played a game like this before, is it really the type of game am I going to sit in front of my TV to play?

I'd get that only to play on Vita. No way I'd play it console or an HD TV/Monitor. It must look so bad!

The series is much more suited to handheld. If you've got a Vita play it on that, or I believe there's a VC release on 3DS. It's a charming, enjoyable series but certainly not for everyone. It only costs a dollar though, so you might as well try.

The sprite based games hold up a lot better but it still looks okay.

This sale made me look deeper into all of PSN's offerings, and I grabbed Fatal Frame II (is that a permanent $3.99 price, a separate deal, or a pricing error?), and Lunar: Silver Star Harmony as well. All hail the PSN lords!

Can anybody vouch for which version of Velocity Ultra plays better? It was designed for a touch interface no? At $1 I suppose I could just grab both though I hate supporting developers that don't support cross-buy.

Futurlab will support cross buy in the next Velocity sequel. I think there was publishing stuff that made them have to separate the purchases for this one

These flash sales are great, picked up around 10 games. I would love to see another 99¢ sale with Blood Omen, Soul Reaver, and some more PS/PS2 classics. Good way to load up on those even if I may not get around to playing them.

Harvest Moon seems quite addictive. I fired it up last night expecting to play for a few minutes to see what it's about... I ended up playing for five hours. Well worth it. I already knew the Syphon Filter games were a little janky all these years later, but I still manage to have fun with them. $1 to tase people again seems worth it. No idea what Wild Arms is about, but enough people said good things on here so I picked that up as well.

Love Twisted Metal Black, so that's easily worth it. Already had the disc, but since that won't play on my PS3 this is a no brainer. The menu theme is still amazing.

It's just stupid that Velocity Ultra isn't cross-buy but the two versions share the same Trophy list.

Ended up getting all the Syphon Filter games (which I've never played)
Wild Arms 2
Dino Crisis 2

and I poked around at other available PSX games and got Dead in the Water (oof)
and Motorhead, which is hard as crap to play.

So, I'm good on PSX games until Wipeout XL and Wip3out are released (they wont be)

i refuse to buy harvest moon, i already played that shit way too much. got married and shit but that game never actually ends so fuck that.

I picked up the original Dino Crisis, Harvest Moon: Back to Nature, Wild Arms 2, and Tekken 2. I own most of those on disc (dino crisis on Dreamcast) but I couldn't pass up on having these on handheld.

The entire Syphon Filter PSone trilogy was given out as a PS+ freebie in 2012 in North America. The weird messages popping up are probably a result of the store being a mess.

Bought harvest moon, Legend of the Dragoon even though I have a physical copy, Wild Arms 2 and Twisted Metal Black

I bought all 3 syphon filter games, both dino crisis, wild arms 2 , worms revolution, twisted metal black and machinarium. I'll probably never finish machinarium just like i did the PC version.

My thoughts exactly! So many classics I'd love to pick up.. Even if I never get around to them, for a dollar? I'd jump all over that.

I just bought all 10 PS1 games that were on sale and I don't know why. I'll get to most of them eventually... they're all games I've had interest in playing at some point or another.

I wish the cart didn't max out at 10 or I would have added a PS3 game or two. Oh well.

Damn Dino Crisis is still so good...... has really good tension with really strong enemies and low ammo....really miss this type of game...might pick up some old REs and PE2

I played it a little earlier in the evening. Tank controls and looking kinda meh on my big screen aside, I really liked the first hour or so. I dont have a ton of patience anymore with jank or old school graphics...but it really grabbed me right away. So its worth picking up even for people who are skeptical of nostalgia goggles in old games.

Imagine all the FF games for 99c each.

Dragoon could easily be a numbered Final Fantasy game....enjoying myself so far.... Ive found i enjoy JRPGs much more if they are on a handheld

Ended up grabbing some games to grow my psone collection on my vita. Grabbed both wild arms and Dino crisis games, legend of dragoon, and harvest moon. Also grabbed po po and yo after hearing high praises on the player one podcast. I also wanted to support this notion from Sony in hopes this becomes a regular thing. Psone classics makes the vita a very compelling device to pack on vacation

How could I say no to games from my childhood for 99 cents?

Picked up Twisted Metal: Black, Legend of Dragoon, Dino Crisis 1-2, Wild ARMs 1-2, Tekken 2. Holy crap!

Can someone remind me how to buy these and play them on my EU PS3 and/or Vita? I assume I have to make a US account which shouldn't be impossible, but do I need to do fancy jiggery-pokery with PSN accounts and memory cards to actually play them? I still have most of my PS1 games on disc (including some of these titles) but they're mainly imports due to how terrible the market was here for JRPGs, so although I can play them on my PC I would like to take them on the go in particular...

Edit: Grabbed Virtua Fighter 2. $4.04 remaining...

EU PS3. Easy, use the web store. Sign into the US account on your console (to play them from the EU account you might have to set the US one to primary or something). You can do all purchases (and make the account) from the web store. Buy credit from Amazon.com (load up gift card to get around billing address problems bank may have) to pay $9.99 for $10 credit.

Vita you will need a separate memory card and to format the system from what I understand so it is a hassle.

I bought Thomas Was Alone and Double Dragon Neon. I missed most of those PS1 classics when they came out, but I just won't be able to get to them anytime soon (and my backlog is big enough as it is). I already beat and enjoyed Papo & Yo and The Cave.

"Really strong enemies and low ammo"... Thanks for helping me dodge that bullet, was seriously thinking of getting both DC games but I don't have the time nor patience to play hard games with tank controls, sparce ammo, and tougher than nails enemies.

I've been wondering that too about Fatal Frame. Both games are 3.99 and have been since Halloween. They went on sale and it seems like it was forgotten about lol. Been meaning to buy them myself but PSN wont accept my card... and dont want to add extra money just to buy them.

Added funds using a PSN prepaid card instead of CC and I was able to get through the error. I guess mobile doesn't like charging CC directly like with web browser/console.

Wait - what about Silver Star? Was this on sale too?

Picked up:

Tekken 2 (I still have PS1 disc, but couldn't say no to 99c digital copy)
Virtua Fighter 2 (Why do some people call this Saturn version? This looks nothing like Saturn version! Apparently not many people actually have played VF2 on Saturn.)
Double Dragon Neon (I missed it during PS+ free game period. Gameplay still hasn't grabbed me yet, but absolutely love the soundtrack)

Great sales. Sony should do this type of sales more often for the people who missed out games that were part of PS+.

Then DC2 would be right up your alley. Both from the same franchise but different takes. While the first focuses a lot more extreme survival by conserving ammo and mixing affect tranqs to knock out enemies to give you enough time to run away, the 2nd is the opposite, it encourages kills and upgrading your weapons and ammo.

The first was full 3D polygon, and the 2nd uses 3D over prerendered backdrops like RE did, tank controls and all; but given the gear and ammo you get in DC2, the characters would demolish the events in RE if they were placed in the same scenario. Both really great games under their own right, but I think you would be fine with the second game.
