Nah there were no challenge stuff like that in the alpha, and I'd be surprised if it was in the beta. That being said, Bungie have already stated that there'll be "surprises" as the beta goes on.

The image on the left is Andal Brask it would seem. If you look at the style of writing the two notes on the bottom left are the same person. So it reads as:
The notes on the bottom right suggest that Cayde-6 is the Cayde the first person speaks of.
So I don't think Cayde-6 is a human returned to life but he may have been a student or colleague of Andal Brask. The armor could be the exact same worn in memory/respect or it could just be styled after Andal's.
Edit: Took to long to write it up I suppose. Now I'm super late to the party. :/

This makes the most sense, after reading those hand-written notes. Cayde-6 is the student of Andal Brask (the guy in the image.)

From earlier in this thread. I'd definitely check them out if you'd like to theorize and what not. As to the number, the theory is that the numbers next to Exos names are the amount of times their memories have been wiped. I briefly talk about it in one of my reddit posts.

Yep, no problem. It's not as useful if a thread is getting multiple posts in less than 30 seconds, since 30 seconds is the fastest it'll auto update, but it's perfect if you're just looking every minute or so.
