PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

Question, I just got a bracket finally for my PS3 HDD, it was fine for me to remove the tape covering it right? It was a bit difficult, so I was curious if it was indeed fine. I googled and found nothing saying otherwise, and the manual didn't mention tape at all.

Only bit I couldn't get off 100% was the TINIEST remnants of the rim of that oval hole:

Edit: Finally done transferring, and this is odd; the system info says the HDD is 465GB big when it's a 500GB HDD, and it said I had 406GB left, this is not doing anything after transferring from the internal 12GB HDD, what the hell?

I heard it happens where the true HDD space tends to be lower than advertised due to the conversions of Gigabytes and Gigabits, but that doesn't explain why 12GB would become 60GB used.

It's a fun game and one of the best looking, colourful titles we've had on the Vita.

Can't tell you much about the anime. The series has been running for fifteen years and I'll never catch up.

So how's the story? Where can I learn about the Vita version?

Which is better for Symphony of the Night on Vita: the PSN version of Dracula X Chronicles, or the PS1 version itself? Both are Vita compatible, I'm just curious which is the better port between both games.

Dracula X Chronicles will net you playable Maria and new voice acting, but has mandatory borders for the game that are kind of ugly and distracting, you have to unlock it in a specific part of Dracula X (which can be tricky with the difficulty and the multiple pathways), the colors seem a bit washed out imo, and nothing is customizable like it is in the PSOne emulation.

With the PSOne game, you can just start playing, you get the classic VO, more options for display and control configuration through the emulation, and of course... I Am the Wind.

Buy SotN for SotN. Buy Dracula X for the Rondo remake (which has it's pros and cons as a remake, but is ok) and the unlockable translated original Rondo of Blood. It's worth having for just that imo:

It's a fucking amazing traditional Castlevania game.

I think something is wrong with my PS4, it keep crashing after the start screen in UFC. Could it be a corrupted save file? This is weird.

Edit: yup, corrupted save, just deleted my save and it's working again. Weird thing is that I didn't even rage quit last time I played like I usually do lol.

Yes, no tape is fine. On the bracket in PS3s that come already with a HDD installed there is no tape either.

465 is correct due to GB vs. GiB. The PS3 reserves a certain percentage of the HDD probably as cache. Something around 10%. I don't think it was ever explained/revealed why the PS3 does that exactly, but that should explain the missing space.

Is it possible to buy something from the PSN store with a CC while having funds in your wallet?
The store will use the funds and charge you the difference on the CC if you are buying something that's more expensive than the funds in the wallet.
I'm not sure if you can skip the wallet completely if that's what you want to do.

What the crap?

Playing Ratchet & Clank 2 on the Vita and the game crashed when I attempted to take a limo from Maktar to the Thugs 4 Less Jamming Array. Then I reload my save and... I'm in the Jamming Array? Then I complete the mission, watch the following cutscene to get Barlow coordinates, then the game crashes again. Reload my save again, and now I am able to go to Barlow... yet the mission log says I've yet to complete the Jamming Array mission. It's like the game is progressing without actually progressing. This is all just so weird. :/

I'm just gonna move onto the next planet and hope it doesn't crash again I guess. Just hope that the Jamming Array mission being counted as incomplete doesn't hinder my progress (doubt it will though since I already got the Barlow coordinates out of it)

Just booted up Uncharted for the first time ever. Don't know why, but I never thought to play the series until my uncle came across the first for a buck about a month ago; right when Mario Kart 8 came out.

After my initial binge on that and then playing some other stuff, I decided that tonight would be as good a time as ever to start it. I've just watched the trailer for Uncharted 4, and I feel like entering the world.

The game is boring. Getting that out of the way now.

But the visuals, story, and oh man the voice acting. They seem to have held up really well. There's stuff that pops out like poor textures, but really it's hard to complain. Game is seven years old, it could be worse.

Story hasn't progressed too much yet, and I've read in the past about zombies/monsters/supernatural stuff showing up later. That's... Actually a bit disappointing. Seems like they could have done quite a bit without entering that realm.

And again oh man the voice acting. I'm loving it. It all sounds natural. The witty lines don't come across as a cringe. It works. I actually laughed already. I've played for one hour.

Looking forward to watching the rest of it this week. Plan on picking up the second this Saturday.

Playing Golden Abyss makes you miss that realm, although not tryna spoil but there's always somewhat a
catch to the supernatural weird shit in Uncharted
. You'll see.

Also Uncharted 2 soooo goooood

Is it possible to buy something from the PSN store with a CC while having funds in your wallet?
AFAIK, no. But you could top up your wallet with your CC and buy the stuff you want with the additional wallet money only.

Don't know for what all this would be good for though...

They couldn't put a supernatural element because he is supposed to be surprised on UC1 lol.

Still when the game finished I was disapointed that
we didn't see any crazy supernatural stuff.
. But U3 doesn't really have it either so... I dunno.

Yes. So good. It's amazing. They found what they wanted to do with the series in UC2 and the package they offered was absolutely amazing.

People say even multiplayer is amazing, but I can't give it a try (it gives me an error)

I can't stand more of Conception II, even if I barely pay any attention to it while playing. I can't wait to finish my first playthrough, I doubt I'll go for the platinum trophy this time.
It's pretty bad. I ended up just skipping the story segments and play through the dungeons while watching something on netflix/crunchyroll. It drags on way too long :/

Just beat Ys Seven! Really, really enjoyed it. Way more than I thought I would. It was a great 20 odd hours and as a result I'm now downloading Memories of Celceta. Kind of surprised at the small file size, it's only around 800mb.

Ehh, I don't mind too much to be honest. The last two games I've played have been Trails in the Sky and Ys Seven, both PSP games. It sure looks better than Ys Seven and even that was fine for me.

I'm fine with it too.

Doesn't change the fact that it's such an ugly-looking game though, hahaha.

I have never played it, but am i the only one that would pay for Marvel Avengers Alliance on Vita?
I'm not much of a fan of the artstyle, the game itself looks fun though.
Yessssssssss.

I haven't encountered anything like that yet. That's a shame, hopefully it doesn't happen again and you can progress further without anymore crashes/issues.

Worth noting that if you're in the PAL region the PS1 version is 50hz while the version on Dracula X Chronicles will be 60hz.

Next Vita game purchase should be? (RPG likely)

  1. Preferably $30 or less
  2. More fanservice than P4G
  3. Not so much fanservice it seems like the only reason the game exists
  4. 40 hours or less to complete, can go longer with optional content
  5. Less grind, more story (rather play 10 hours of entertaining content over 40 hours of mixed)
  6. Traditional anime style
  7. Trophy support a plus

Conception II looks decent, but boring dungeon grind comments turn me off some. Of course with my attention span, maybe a couple shorter sub $20 games would be even better.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky if you haven't got it already.

I have not, will take a look
It's a PSP game but it's on PSN, I put off playing it until a week or two ago and then couldn't put it down till I finished. I think every JRPG fan needs to play it, ticks all your boxes except for trophies and fan service (Can't remember any besides the obligatory hot springs scene). Such a good game.

These flash sales with a bunch of PSX classics has me wanting more flash sales for PSP games too...

Oh. I also just realized that they probably don't include those because SCEA hates the Vita and that's where most people would be playing PSP games...

Sony pls pricedrop your memory cards. ;_;

It's bad enough some games don't sell well enough to warrant physical releases, and now the memory card price point is being a barrier to purchasing more digital games. (Project Diva f, Sword Art Online) Otherwise I gotta play the content manager game.

In other news, wow I spent the entire yesterday grinding in Persona4:Golden to try to beat the 2nd dungeon on the first possible day. Spent a while in the 1st dungeon 1st floor raising my Izanagi stats and farming chest items, made it to the last floor of the 2nd dungeon to not have enough energy so I had to go back and farm some more for the second attempt.

raising my Izanagi stats
Why would you do that to yourself? D:

Don't grind, just fuse better Persona. You can spend boatloads of time making Izanagi a feasible Persona to keep around or you can just fuse higher level and better Persona with a fraction of the effort.

Constant fusing is the best way to keep on top of battles in Persona 3 and 4 with minimal to no grinding.

Might be widespread issue. Someone on the insomnia forum had the same problem.

This needs to be patched out.

My slim PS3 got stuck at 99% during updating earlier this year and after I somehow fixed it with some time I knew that my stock HDD was broken. After months of barely working system and very slow intalls/downloads and menue lags it got stuck again at 99% when I tried to apply the newest update.
Will my slim PS3 work like a new one when I just replace the old HDD with a new one or could there be another non working part in the console and I'm safer to get a brand new PS3?
I got so many PS3 games and PS+ I want to play but around 200€ for a brand new old gen console is a bit..

TLDR: HDD broken after updating issues, new HDD or brand new console to be safe?

I'd recommend you to buy an HDD first. If you keep having the same problem you could get the 12GB model (cheaper) and put the disk drive you've just bought.

In the worst case it may cost you a few bucks more than a brand new 500GB model, but it'll be worth if your console isn't broken.
