Why does not knowing this matter so much?

Are you seriously going to tell me that, whether or not the main character speaks, is completely irrelevant?

What about the number of subclasses per class? Also irrelevant?

What about number of weapons types? In a world with almost half a dozen alien races, are we really limited to the 10 types of human weaponry we've seen so far?

What about vehicles? Is there only the 2 types that we've seen so far?

OH MY GOD. Where did you find these!?!? They're amazing. I want a folder full of these concepts for my wallpaper!!!

Wouldn't you want to have any surprises for when the game is released? Or are these the kinds of things that would make or break a purchase for you?

To be honest I feel like I know too much already, but I'm probably in the minority here.

1. I mean, I don't think it was clear or not leading up to ODST and Reach that we knew the character was going to speak or not. And if we did, it wasn't until the few weeks before release, so... *shrugs*
2. Probably something we should know, yeah, but we do have the whole month of August and first week of September to find this out.
3 and 4: Don't see why this matters so much. When it comes to weapons, maybe one of the reasons why they haven't released this information is because they're still adding and dropping weapons in the game. And, IIRC, not all vehicles were revealed for several Halo releases – or rather, they're not going to be announced until August.

Plus you don't wanna reveal too much.

Inside the traveler?

Please please fucking PLEASE put some volume sliders in the options Bungie. I know y'all dont like that but we deserve options!!!?

Wont we be able to explore mars?

Hypo just preorder on eu psn and you can preload
I don't think that we will, no. I seriously doubt they would debut half of their major exploration areas in the beta.

To be honest I feel like I know too much already, but I'm probably in the minority here.
Definitely in the minority.

I'd like to see some additional weapons and armor, for a loot-based progression game, we have seen startlingly few permutations.

I want them to keep the story under wraps as much as possible. But I don't think important gameplay related things like subclasses or weapon types being left in the dark is a good idea. People want to plan what type or character they play in loot games, can't do that if you don't know what kind of weapons or (sub)classes are actually in the game

Inside the traveler?

Very early concept from before they had settled on the design of the Traveler. They had a GDC talk about it with a ton of concept art like this, I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Here it is. VERY interesting look at the development of the game's concept, I definitely recommend checking it out. (the concept in question shows up around 12 minutes in)

Man I'm getting hyped for this, been needing something new to play on my PS4. Even just got myself a headset partly in preparation for both this and TLOU. I'm ready.

In a few days you will!

I started off as Hunter and it bored the shit out of me, then I played Warlock and had a lot more fun.

Can't wait to play as Titan next!

It looks like Titan is a bit of a Vanguard from ME3 and that is by far my favorite class ever.

But the Trenchcoat man....

oh my jesus thank you.

It doesn't. Just thought I'd share it.

TY for the images, mrGreencastle.

Home stretch, Guardians. Does everyone have a beta reservation code?

You're welcome, though I didn't assemble the albums myself. :)

Be aware that some of that stuff is super early that got cut, or is without context that has been provided by Bungie in some cases. Still some great pieces though. A mega thick concept art book would be real nice down the line.

But I did read that we will be able to explore a part of Mars in the beta. I cant find the quote though. I think Bungie has said as much.

So I preordered the PS4 version on amazon Saturday. I still haven't received an email from them with a beta code.

Am I missing something? Do I need to register on bungie.net first?

Should I be worried? Lol

So I selected xbox 360 as my beta platform, but just bought an xbox one yesterday. Anybody know if there is a way to change your platform selection before keys are sent?

It's PDT this time of year.

YES. People getting DST wrong more often than not just kills me, in all the forum threads here and on Bnet that incorrectly uses Standard Time I've been hoping someone points it out lol.

It can be counter intuitive for peeps who luckily unlike me don't have to think about it often but Daylight Saving (only 1 s, related pet peeve sorry) is used in summer not winter. It doesn't prolong sunlight during short winter days but rather is intended to move a "wasted" early morning hour of daylight to the end of the day in summer.

Ooh, I just got another friend request related to Destiny

I feel popular

It should be in every game.
As should a certain degree of controls customisability in the options, especially when it comes to shooters. If your default control scheme is going to be shite I should be able to change it to some degree (this isn't aimed at Destiny, just a general rant).

To the people that have played the alpha, how did aiming feel on the PS4?

But why would you want to turn off Marty O'Donnell's soundtrack?!

Because during pvp or pve I might want to listen to something else once in awhile?

Thanks for all the friend requests on psn y'all. Everybody in DestinyGAF is gonna have a great time together :).

If I'm not wrong you can choose up to 3 platforms in Destiny site with one Beta Key.

Edit - Seems like I'm wrong.

God, I can't wait to see Chicago!

VRwWMPg.jpg

I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet. These images were from a panel where they were talking about trying to figure out their direction for the game. Right after a lot of these images were shown, particularly after the Chicago artwork, Joseph Staten went on to talk about how they weren't really getting far creating all these pieces of artwork. I forget the exact wording, but it lead me to believe that these pieces were just ideas, definitely nothing concrete.

I was excited about visiting Chicago, too, but I kinda think it was just a random piece of artwork.

I'm half expecting to go inside the Traveler at some point, perhaps near the end the story missions involve it partially awakening or repairing itself thanks to your badassery or something.

I won't be disappointed if the story doesn't lead to that or anything, but I am extremely interested in that aspect of the ongoing plot. Maybe Destiny 3 ends with the Traveler waking up, thanking you for finding the unobtainium core or mcguffin relay that it needed to fix itself, then taking off again and wrecking The Darkness when things are looking the most grim.

hopefully they don't wipe beta progress, would be nice way to reward those who preordered (and most likely followed on with the purchase)

i had found some really cool gear in the alpha that i didn't get to equip because level 8 was the cap in the alpha and it hurt me not being able to keep it
