Fighting Games Weekly | July 14-20 | Bracket Resets Full of Tears (of Joy?)

For all his fuckups, I honestly hope Triforce perseveres and makes it. It's fucking depressing knowing this dudes status right now. I really dont know how people can take pleasure in another dude being in the shitter...for no reason.

Hope burns eternal.

As to why people take pleasure in it? People like to see others whom they believe to be inferior fall.

Triforce (and I'm inclined to believe him) is saying on stream right now everyone who ended up in the house was kicked out of their homes.

And only 3 people were helping pay for the bills (I forgot who they were, but he named them initially).

Says EMP is about $30k in debt.
What exactly was costing EMP that money?

I dont doubt that the Arc was a haven, not a prison.

Triforce says the government backed out on Rolando and left him $60k in debt.
Does that relate at all to VxG?

Once you have fundamentals and are smart enough to approach games the right way, it's not hard to learn multiple games. I can play P4U and SF4 both at tournament level and I still am playing other games in downtime. It's far from impossible if you're a reasonably dedicated player. We need more of those, and we're starting to get them at least. The "anime community" is still way too many pot monsters and people who are showing up just to get drunk and be dumb or twitter monster, but it's getting better.

I would too.

Look at it this way.

A) It was probably Rolando's idea to go to government with this "great plan"
B) Plan fails. Government looks bad... who do they pin it on? The dumb ass that came up with the plan.

This is what entrepreneurship is. The plan you had fail and burned, you take the hit for it.

Triforce spoke at length about paying for players to go out to tournaments out of his own pocket, cooking them dinner, paying the light bill, etc. with them not contributing. And then when some players did get independent sponsors, they did behind his back and did not contribute back to the house. Justin tried to convince him to tell the "bums" to get off their asses and learn some responsibility but he admittedly did not. Wasn't until he took Justin to MLG before things started coming a bit more sustainable (but he was still in debt). He also says that he is responsible for getting a lot of these players their first jobs.

He is now accusing Sanford of starting the whole Triforce takes people's money thing which he is adamant he does not.

Does that relate at all to VxG?
Yeah, remember all the pot bonuses and the Marvel MM at the casino and stuff? That was all supposed to be government money (I remember this when Rolando was promoting VxG).

Yeah, the more games you pick up, the better. Picking up Guile in SF4 taught me to manage charges. Now I use Parasoul and Shuma-Gorath. When I decided to try Blanka, the fundamentals were a lot easier to grasp since I was already used to charging inputs.

Now Blanka is teaching me to piano keys. Firebrand taught me the IAD motion since you use it for wall cling fireballs. Oni taught me to double tap for FADCs. Dormammu made me master the DP input since his two most important moves are assigned to that input.

Every time I pick a new character my skills expand. Years from now, picking up a new fighter will be a cinch.

I don't entirely agree with that. I do think it gets easier, but it's still a lot of work. I've played multiple games at a competitive level in the past, but I don't think I could get there in a game like BBCP or P4AU without putting in a lot of work.

I think the one thing you need to dedicate massive time to in any new game is matchups. You don't get to bring anything with you in that regard. Nothing about fighting Weaker helps me deal with Yun.

Triforce is full of shit. What sponsorship complains about the money they loses sponsoring a player? They did what you sponsored them to do. Win & do it with your name infront of it. It's the sponsor's job to take thst recognition & turn it into profit.

It's work, but it's not monumental. Once you've gotten to the point where you barely need to training mode anymore in a game, you can spend less time dumping into that and just play. Like with P4U I don't really training mode except to keep combos consistent, so I can just play and keep improving my actual game. Same thing with Sakura in SF4, I only use training mode for char specific OS and set up testing. Gives me a lot more time to just play and then I can dump the training mode time into whatever I'm currently learning. You gotta put work in, but it gets to be less work as just being a good player who can apply stuff quickly will get you there.

If you're an actual dedicated tournament player who is doing what they can (within reason, don't quit school/work kids) to be serious, it's not going to break you. You see it all the time with crossover from other games. The point I'm trying to make is the percentage of the "anime" playerbase that's actual doing that is a super small compared to the people just there to have a good time. Not saying hanging around to have a good time is a bad thing, but it doesn't lend longevity to most things.

Do tell. My phone must be silent.

Triforce basically says black people are not loyal, and have no worth ethic.

Without actually saying it...

He says he's going to get a Japanese player under EMP and rule the FGC. And he know that player won't betray him because he's Asian, and Asians have loyalty, and know what work ethic is.

Hope burns eternal.

I take no pleasure in seeing a mentally ill person cripple themselves financially.

But I also take no responsibility. Dude is not a good thing for the community, has never been a good thing for the community, and this EMP shit needs to end.

Do tell. My phone must be silent.

He's gonna save a bunch of money and go and a japanese player. Get him a visa and wreck america and have the japanese player live at the Ark for a year and casually said that because he's asian he would have a better work ethic then the other players.

Actually, the thing that confuses me is didn't that Rolando work for the government? In tourism? No matter way you slice this, it's shady. Was Rolando lying? Did he purposely withhold or construe information differently?

Mad shots being thrown at Yipes and Wong. Semi-believable. Sad to hear about his wife leaving him. I don't know where he's going with this Remix stuff though.

what the fuck

he just went from this sad shit to no girl can fuck me unless she meets my standards

did i miss a transition? wtf

Triforce has a standard for girls being able to have sexual relations with him. Ok this stream is going off the deep end.
Or is this just the beginning?

Found some funny hitbox stuff from old matches.

Basically he said that it was Jusitn that made him want to continue with EMP after his wife left him because he said he'd be by his side till the end, that if he quit EMP, him losing his wife would be for nothing....and then he left shortly after. Yipes did the same.

I honestly dont see any reason not to believe him considering theres another ex EMP member there that hasnt said hes full of shit yet.

because people see him as cancerous.

He did favours for Wong and Yipes (apparently Yipes' was public?) and they promised him that they'll ride for EMP until the wheels fall off, but they both jumped ship.

He did praise Wong earlier for being one of the only people to come to his defense when he was in dire straights. He basically goes all the way through saying things he did for people but he never got anything in return. "These are your heroes." But he doesn't blame them at the same time because he fucked up too.

Now he's talking about him declining to work with Nintendo.

This thread is starting to go straight to the gutter with all this Triforce + OBS talk.

Triforce firing shots at Yipes, Sanford and Justin? I for one am SHOCKED!

I think this is an important part of FG history, personally. I like knowing how things have changed over time.

because people see him as cancerous.

Sure, but I feel like people want this dude to just be homeless and waste away. Or like kill himself or something. It goes beyond just wanting him to leave the community, people actually want bad things to happen to this dude. Which is fucked up. It's pretty much the only reason I'm sympathetic for this guy at all.

I don't for a second believe he gave up a 90k job at Nintendo for EMP. It's probably a lie with a hint of truth to it, like everything he says. Something like he applied but didn't meet the qualification.

OBS has provided me with much comedy. Let this be an abject lesson to you all. Don't have delusions of grandeur like triforce. You can destroy yourself. He destroyed himself

Saying they're shots is flavourful language. He's just telling it how it is, for lack of better words, to explain how he got into the situation he is now.

I don't know who it is but another person basically critiqued why it took so long for him to actually do something about it (as in, getting rid of problems earlier that led to this state of EMP) and he owned up about his mistakes and stuff.

It's not your "usual" OBS.

Pretty much. I feel like Triforce's perspectives are good for ending up with converging evidence though.

yea you'll always find some stupid extremists especially in a mob mentality on the web. I don't want him to be homeless, I just think dude needs to hang it up and stop getting in impressionable kids ears.
