Based on that it sounds like they probably axed Chrom. Then repurposed him as Robin's FS.
Just like I thought.

Gematsu leak reconfirmed. Come on Chorus Kids.

I got not one, but two female FE reps so I could really care less about any other characters except for Emolga, but I know its not getting in lol.

So since it's clear we have a couple of posters who claim to read Japanese, what does the Lucina page say?

I'm a bit busy at the moment but a quick scan of Lucina's page reveals that her overview box reiterates the differences in sword mechanics, and none of the attack descriptions mention Marth so I doubt there are any comparisons between her and his attack properties. But I'll go over those once I'm freed up, sorry.

Didn't the leaker say on Friday that it was 100% going to be Shulk revealed on Monday? I remember him using very strong, confident language. The fact that he was wrong makes me think that not only is his information incomplete, he's also BSing and exaggerating a little.

I think it's safe to say that somehow or another this source got all the information related to the first leak, either by being involved with the videos or Nintendo's E3 showing. WFT and Villager together in the same list is way too slim a chance to be coincidence.

But after that point their access to this information was cut off or whatever involvement they had was finished, since everything that's followed has been a bit dubious (Pokemon from X/Y) or just wrong (Chrom, Shulk appearance).

Maybe they were just enjoying the ride or maybe it was old info that's long since changed, but it's probably safe to say that only the first set of information was accurate, and everything else needs to be taken with a grain of salt or discredited entirely.

Either way, it's not the gospel and it's not the be-all end-all. Like every leak, it just needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

In that case, the leak could've been from before Greninja had a name but the other characters did.

Yes, but I was thinking what Sakurai said in an interview about Brawl. When he was planning that game, he didn't write down "Ike" (or whatever his Japanese name is), he wrote "Fire Emblem character" and asked Intelligent Systems for a good character fill that niche, to which they responded with "Ike."

If anything, 3DS sales may cannibalise the Wii U sales. The 3DS doesn't need saving, it's the Wii U that does.

The 3DS version, oddly enough, will likely sell significantly better than the Wii U version. I can see the 3DS version selling 9+ million in the first year.

Conversely, I think it would take 3+ years for the Wii U version to hit that mark.

here:

The blurb about how Lucina came to be is basically "Originally Lucina was a Marth color variation because they're related characters. The have different names and voices but play the same, and would receive treatment similar to male/female WFT, Villager and Robin. However, while Lucina's fighting style is the same, she has different characteristics. Because there's only a small difference, she would be a convenient additional character. This made her a lucky newcomer pick."

or something like that

Maybe there's something on the rest of the page that mentions a cut character, but... I don't see why it wouldn't go along with the section on why she was included. No mention of cut characters or needing to fill in a removed spot.

I will second this. I don't see anything in the posted screenshot that says anything about a cut character.

And I don't trust the people on gamefaqs anyway.

So since it's clear we have a couple of posters who claim to read Japanese, what does the Lucina page say?

"In case you have said, this is relevant to Marth (Mars) and not to Wii Fit Trainer based on their performance. Wii Fit trainer is a color change. if they have the same name and voice its going to divide men and women by handling as a specific color variation and also if the body of these features are the same. Lucina has differences. She has different attacks. They are sensitive, so the moment when there is a performance difference, even a little, you can select the fighter."

Thats the first part, then it starts talking about selecting in a seperate tight frame, and she is lucky.

My Japanese is rusty, but I'm sure Im on the right track

What scans supposedly say what?

It's so easy to miss out news in this ever-moving OT. :P

Ryce dropped by with bullet points on a recent Famitsu that supposedly went into detail of development saying Lucina was originally an alt and a character had to be cut because the workload was over piling, making Lucina a quick clone.

Did he? Either way I'm sure that even if Sakurai was planning on announcing Shulk on monday he could have swapped it with what we got. His miiverse announcement post made it sound like other newcomer videos had already been made.

Hm. How likely is this to be accurate? I wonder who was cut then.

So we've had multiple people say the scan says nothing about a cut and yet people are still talking about it as if it's fact.

How long is this going to go on for?

I don't know why you are being snarky about it since we only saw only one poster here that claimed that it's not, awhile there are few posters in other sites that verified it.

Care enough to post link to those claims, pretty please?

You're assuming I have a studio set up. Logistically there is more involved than 10 minutes of time; there are also equipment and personnel requirements. Ones that Sakurai could take care of no problem.

You're out of your mind if you really think the vocal performance part is that short and simple. Make use of the basic stuff every person has in their house and show us were wrong.

My last big realistic wish is a Rhythm Heaven character, so I kinda hope the leak is still accurate. But Robin was one of my most wanted so I'm satisfied.

One would think Chrom.

Him being a huge jobber in the trailer could be a reference to him getting cut too. Sakurai seemed to acknowledge that he was a popular pick.

The first leak is definitely legit, but the second one has merit, too: getting precisely the name "Mii Fighter" is telling. I could imagine him guessing Chrom after seeing "character from FE:A," just like the Pokemon thing - a dangerous bit of exaggeration on his part. But his claim that Shulk would definitely be revealed on Monday was, I think, totally made up. That "leak" came three days before the reveal - if he really had any inside information, there's no way could have gotten it wrong.

Actually, his email was simply "enjoy my good friend shulk!"

He said that Shulk is 100% in the email AFTER Lucina/Robin ended up being the reveal.

Before Lucina/Robin reveal:
I got another e-mail tonight.

Its contents:

"enjoy my good friend shulk! :)"

That is all.

After Lucina/Robin reveal:
As I'm sure most of ya know, the leaker e-mailed me last night teasing Shulk.

He also e-mailed me again this morning saying Nintendo keeps a lot secret from Bandai Namco, and that Sakurai may change his mind as he does all the time, but that Shulk was 100%.

A quote: "I only know what has been done, not what or when they will be made available. Sakurai may change his mind, and he does all the time. Shulk will not be changed."

I've e-mailed him about the lack of Shulk, as well as the whole Chrom being a Final Smash thing. I'll update if I get a response.

Still finding it hard to believe. 8 for 11 is no easy task. I wonder what he has to say.

I already did, it's not mentioned anywhere in the scans, people on smash boards have said the same too.

I do vocal performances quite often. Singers are used to emulating sounds and making their voices do things. I have to work or I could, in theory, take you up on it. However, it wouldn't get Roy into Smash, so what's the point? Also you'd need someone who speaks Japanese for it to sound authentic.

Even if I did do it, you would come back with "that's not good enough" regardless of what it sounds like, since you wouldn't be biased in favor of my recordings the way you would be toward the official ones.

Yep, he did.

Yeah, I more or less agree. It does sound like the trailers are just waiting to be shown. What's more curious to me is why or how the leaker would have had any indication that it would be Shulk specifically, when everything else points to his or her information being very old.

Ah, my mistake. I remember that email now, I commented that it sounded like a serious backpedal after he was wrong about the reveal. Still, "enjoy my good friend shulk!" sounds confident in a wink-wink-nudge-nudge kind of way. I still think he was making stuff up. Sure, it's possible Sakurai went with another trailer at the last minute, but to change your reveal, and consequently a whole week's worth of PotD's because of a leak seems drastic.

EDIT: To clarify, I mean he was making stuff up about the Monday reveal - I don't think he had any real info on that particular event. The rest of his leaks have held up well enough that I'm willing to trust his word on Shulk still being in, but I'm not as confident as I was before.

I bet Sakurai was going to show Shulk but changed his mind in the last second because everyone was talking about it.

Maybe not, but that's what I'm imagining.
